Alexander,Statue.
Alexander's eyes glistened with joy.He was getting closer to his dream of becoming the Emperor of the World. He immediately sent two Greek ambassadors with Aambhik's envoy to Gandhara, to work out the formal treaty. The envoy, along with the Yavana ambassadors started on their way to Takshila.
After a night's journey, they reached Takshila.Aambhik was already waiting eagerly for Alexander's reply. The Gandhara envoy introduced the Greek ambassadors to Aambhik.Aambhik, already overjoyed with the turn things were taking, warmly welcomed them, and made arrangements for their stay in the royal guest house.
Aambhik knew that his father did not approve about the Yavanas. So Aambhik had to tread carefully and with utmost caution, so as his father would be unaware about it.So the time for working out the formal treaty was fixed at night; in the secret meeting chamber. Many important commanders, ministers and officials who had become Aambhik's cronies, were also present in the meeting. The meeting started in utmost secrecy. It is said that along with corrupt and wicked persons, honest and good persons also co-exist.So was in the case of Aambhik.Unfortunately for him,a group of loyal soldiers of king Aambiraj, had already sighted the Yavana soldiers.
They immediately hastened to king Ambiraj.Ambiraj was busy discussing the matters of state, when the soldiers barged in---
Soldier :Maharaj, maharaj, hume ek atyant gupta vaarta mili hain.Rajkumar Aambhik ke kaksha mein, kuch Yavana sainik dekhen gaye hain.Unke saath Kumar ke vishesh mitra bhi upastithat hain.
Ambiraj : Kya, Kumar Aambhik ke kaksha mein Yavana? Aur woh bhi Gandhara ke rajmahal mein ? Ye kaise ho sakta hain ? Avashya tumne koi brahm dekha hoga.
Soldier : Nahi Maharaj, maine swayam ki aakhon se Kumar ke kaksha mein doh Yavana sainikon ke dekha hain.Mein unhe dekh kar, turanta aapse milne aaya.
Ambiraj : Yeh toh badi hi chintaajanak vaarta hain.Kumar ke kaksha mein Yavanoh ki upastithi, atyanta chintaajanak hain.Hume iss vishay par turanta dhyaan dena hoga.
Maharaj Ambiraj was now worried. The king was a old man, traditional by mindset and orthodox by belief. For him the sighting of Yavana soldiers,in his own palace, and that too in the private chamber of Ambhik, was a matter of grave concern. For him foreign invaders only trouble. He himself had been preparing for long, to face the Greeks. This news worried him a lot.Something was going on around him, in his palace, without his knowledge. He was now thoroughly confused beyond comprehension.
The king slowly and steadily walked down the stairway to Aambhik's chamber...
