Well,my dear Avantika, that is a long story. But to compress it- Jodha leaves Agra when Jalal thinks she is having an affair with a man she meets in an isolated cottage late at night. That chap is her cousin, but there is no way Jalal could know that. He still does not confront her, not wanting her to feel that he does not trust her!

Matters come to a head when the cousin sneaks into the palace disguised as a eunuch. He is exposed when he is in Jodha's rooms and Jalal, who recognises him as the man she was meeting in the hut, naturally explodes. Any other king would have executed her on the spot for adultery. But he is so besotted with her that he only asks her to leave Agra, which she does and lands up in Mathura with her Kanha.

Then Jalal, in an orgy of repentance once he learns the truth about the cousin, searches for her all over the Mughal empire. She refuses to go back with him, even after she sees that he is gravely wounded. Finally, she goes back on her own after he has abolished the pilgrimage tax on Hindus. When she lands up in Agra, Jalal abases himself to a sickening extent, though the fault in hiding the truth from him was all Jodha's, and actually asks her to whip him as a punishment!

At which point I would gladly have seized the whip and thrashed both of them.😡😡

Here, Nandini cannot blame Chandra for not accepting her innocence after seeing the evidence - there is Durdhara's eye witness evidence, and then Nandini was the only one, as she herself says, to have handled the medicine, and it was poisoned. What more does the prosecution need to prove her guilt, and what could she have done to prove her innocence?

Remember that she believes her alter ego, the other personality, has actually committed this crime. She cannot prove that either, even after he has given her a chance, for Sunanda lets her down flat. Even if Sunanda had supported Nandini, it would not have been a ticket to freedom. Nandini would have been locked away in an asylum for life.

After Sunanda's denial, there is NO way, that Chandra could have avoided sentencing Nandini, and the only possible penalty was death. If he had freed her, no one would ever have believed in Mauryan royal justice any more.

But I have an interesting theory as to why he chooses the walling in live option for Nandini's execution. I have discussed it above in my response above to Pratiksha. You might like to take a look at it. It might turn out to be correct, which would be delightful.

Aunty self respect of Nandini to be upheld right... SHE Should have given some time toprove her side... But cvs will not show ...more than love ,there is self respect... How can she forget everything and mingle with them without feeling hurt somewhere down layers of her heart... i understand that this is just for entertainment, still I cannot appreciate its contents.. when Dadi could understand her,why Not others ,atleast Dur or Cgm...If NAndini IS dead, then can these persons esp Helena who knew the whole matter, herself being patrani, just for getting Chandra can escape their inner consciousness. ... cvs dont go by logics they go by drama. So we have to endure this stupidity. I AM wondering why I am still seeing this crap,I think Rt and sweraj influenced me badly...🤢

Aunty what mathura track... I did not see Ja

Not at all, my dearest Anjali, I am always very pleased to see whenever you can make it, and I am happy that you enjoyed the two posts.

And I am glad you mentioned it , my pet. Even if not a kovil (temple), I definitely deserve a small medal for putting up with this endless polambal!😆

These photos are wonderful. The first is one of the most delightful shots of my bonny boy that I have seen thus far, and the second will fit perfectly into my next post due out on Monday. He was superb in that scene, with a voice so weary that it encapsulated all of the tragedy that was crushing his soul. He has magnificent voice control, does Rajat!

Good discussions. Enjoying all of them.

Me stopping complaining 😆 and instead bringing about humor to wade through the episodes.

At one point last week, I thought the serial was sinking. But as loveislife pointed out, it is Balaji serial.

The chemistry and charm of lead paid was drowned by last week's excesses of melo drama.

More than anything else, I also feel wardrobe issues need to be sorted out

I was anyways going to buy a wrangler Jeans for CGM and his wife last week. Will the clothes not smell? They hardly look the type to be washed regularly with all that Jhamikki etc.

Watched PnP 1995 some selected shots again - So wonderful. If you have to stay true to Idhikaas and past literature, this is how one does it

If Chandra had been shown to have this illness, Avantika my dear, he would have been dethroned and sent for treatment, and most likely killed off quietly by the next in line, in this case Malayaketu, who would have taken over the throne and the kingdom. One cannot have a mentally unstable man ruling a kingdom, and Chanakya would be the first to endorse that.

As for Nandini, if she had been examined in greater detail and cross-questioned, the penny might have dropped for Chandra, for he is the one who knows of most of the contradictions in her behaviour, in Pataliputra and in Pataalgram.

In that case, she would have been sent for long term treatment, and one does not know if they would ever have accepted her back into the royal family. The others, bar Chandra, would always have been afraid of her, thinking that the alter ego might surface at any moment. This is because the vipareet vyaktitva was not a gentle, inoffensive one, but patently murderous.

Or else, the supposed alter ego would have been punished with life imprisonment. Either way, Nandini's life would have been hell.

As I pointed out earlier, Chandra could not have let her off simply on the basis of his personal conviction. The scandal would have been horrendous, and she would then have been boycotted and reviled by the whole royal family, headed by Durdhara, bar Chandra, of course. After a while it would have become unbearable for the poor girl.

The only way out is for Roopa to be found and exposed. I have some hope that the walling in is a means for trapping the real culprit, though Chandra would have no idea of its being Roopa. Let us wait and watch.

Your questions are not in the least silly, and that is why, yesterday and today, I have taken extra trouble to try and answer them. But in general, it is not a good idea to reach a conclusion purely on emotional grounds. One should look at the actions of each character keeping all the angles and the likely developments in mind, and also what that character is aware of at that point of time.
