I'll always be waiting for @bold! Anyway, take care, Aunty! It's always so good to hear from you! 🤗

Well, Sri and my little Shagun, it would take a much bigger ego that mine to accept any kind of comparison between anything I might write and Jane Austen's masterpiece. Why, even she herself could not match it, not to speak of topping it. None of her other 5 completed books is anything like as superb as Pride and Prejudice, and Mansfield Park really needs a solid dose of commitment to get one thru it!😉

Don't worry. if ever I commit the folly of getting into writing fiction, I shall not fail to recruit you to hold my hand and keep my morale up!

I have always tried to do that, my dear Sangeeta, even in 2013-2014 in the Jodha Akbar forum when I used to do daily posts, because I feel that anyone who takes the trouble to comment on my post deserves a proper response. But these days, I am afraid that a heavy bout of typing might trigger a flare up of my RA, as I suspect happened 3 weeks ago. So I have to be cautious and do the responses by stages.

As for your very pertinent objections re: the Sunanda-Roopa_Aapama troika, I am repeating what I had written yesteday to liberty2 , largely to spare my fingers.

This (Sunanda's goal ) is something I have not managed to make out as yet, except some vague idea that she wants revenge on Padmanand thru Roopa, perhaps by switching her with Nandini. But this does not jell well at all.

The Sunanda-Roopa combo have been making some extortion money on the side till now, but on this job, for which Aapama must have paid Sunanda regardless of Roopa saying that she will do it for nothing, things are not simple. For now Roopa wants Chandra so that she can become his chief queen, while Aapama also wants him for Helena, so the two are plainly at odds.

Sunanda seems by now to have lost control of the show and is hanging desperately on to Roopa's chunari to stay afloat. As I noted in a mini post on page 7 above, Roopa is now like the bull in a Spanish corrida, and there is no saying how many will get gored before she is corralled, hopefully, as you want too, by Chandra.

Over and above this, re: your part in blue, I can only surmise that Roopa is now moved to abandon her original goal of supplanting Nandini by the other, and even more tempting prospect of taking revenge on Padmanand, and so she agrees to play along with Helena on this. But there are two objections one can raise to this: (a) how does Helena know where Padmanand is ? She is just bluffing and (b) even if Roopa locates him, he is not a bali ka bakra that she can kill with her dagger or her nails! And she cannot hope to get close to him for the length of time needed by pretending to be Nandini, for I am sure he would spot the substitution very soon.

Whichever way one looks at it, it is confusion worse confounded.

Hello Periyamma,

Think your RA has got better.. I saw a lot of long responses this week. You really do have the patience to read, to pay attention AND reply to each and every post.

This week, there is a lot of Interest Conflict seen in the Opposition Party. Earlier, all were plotting against Nandini TOGETHER. Now, post Mukhya Rani contest, there is an difference of opinion seen in the Opposition Party. Aparna wants to use Roopa to eliminate Nandini, Roopa wants to take Nandini's place and become Mukhya Rani.

But there are certain loopholes that i see in the script :

1) Roopa : Roopa wants to enjoy everything that Nandini possesses, including Chandra. She said very clearly to Sunanda her own motive is to make Nandini win Mukhya Rani contest - so that she gets to enjoy Nandini's position.

Yesterday, they showed Roopa agreeing to Helena's terms - by going to Patalgram and create split between Chandra and Nandini, so that Nandini does not return to Pataliputra. In return, she will get information on Padmanand to take revenge on him.

- IF taking revenge on Padmanand is the primary motive, she should not be in Palace in the first place.

But she has to be in the palace to try and find out where he is right now. Outside, she would be totally clueless.

- IF she wants to take Nandini's position and enjoy her merits as Mukhya Rani, why should she agree to Helena's terms of splitting Chandra and Nandini ? If Nandini cannot return to Palace, even Roopa cannot return to Palace.
Confusing motive... But since Roopa is a ticking time bomb, nothing can be said till the last minute.

2) Aparna : She already got a hint about Roopa's changing attitude towards Chandra (when she spotted Roopa flirting with Chandra in the garden and her confrontations with Roopa). I wonder why she still continues to play with this forest fire, especially when she knows that she (and Sunanda) cannot control her.

Having started on this path, it is now a case of hoping against hope, I presume, that she can pull it off and at least get rid of Nandini.

3) One and Half months of Roopa Track and still its not clear what Sunanda actually wants..
The most nagging question - why does she wants revenge NOW - when she is living happily in the palace at the mercy of Chandra (during Padmanand's reign she was not even in the palace). She became a widow after Chandra killed Padmanand, then her Sumangali post got reinstated, now she wants to become a widow again ?

If she wanted revenge from Padmanand, she could have just switched Nandini during her growing years.

Yes,but there would then have been no immediate benefit for Sunanda, like the money they have made between them now. And she would not have been able to control Roopa as Nandini anyway.

Taking revenge from Padmanand, now, would mean helping Chandra. She should, in fact, be roping Chandra and Chanakya in her grand plans of sending Roopa disguised as Nandini to Padmanand.

If she wanted to take revenge on Chandra, she could have just switched Nandini when she drank poison.

????

And she has an uncontrollable daughter Roopa who has plans on her own and changes it at the last minute without involving Sunanda.

It is still not clear why she needs help from Aparna. She was doing well with her plans even before Aparna entered the scene. And now, she is caught between Roopa and Aparna (devil and deep sea?) and doesn't know what to do with it.

But what plans? As for Aapama, she is a client, and one who pays well, I presume!😉

The worst part is... waiting for this stupid track to end. Desparately.

Yes, and contrary to my unduly sanguine expectations, the village track is also getting spoilt by the Roopa factor being thrust in there willy nilly.

No, Lashykanna, I am not going to reply at my usual length to this one, except to say that I was very pleased to see it. In fact, I took your advice and rested my fingers all of yesterday and most of today, for I think that it was overdoing things that brought on the latest flare up barely a month after the previous one. I am also husbanding my strength for a post I hope to do tomorrow.

As for your last two chapters, any more in this vein and I shall have a heart attack. It was plain awful, and that is a huge compliment!

My regards to your Peshwa, and love to the troika. How you will manage them all on a vacation I do not know!

Shyamala Periyamma

Periyamma, I had started replying to part 2 too... It's safely at home now in my laptop...
But I was getting Khalil-styled glares from Mr. Lashy ... So, I had to leave it halfway done... I've read the whole part and since it concentrates more on the budding tender romance between the two, I would've had more to express ... But for now, I'll pass on a hug from London Gatwick

No exaggeration at all about your language... I learn so much from it, e.g. one more fact today -about salad years! I've learnt to appreciate it more and more, as I read more of it... Almost cyclic!

I am so glad you loved my response(from your words I can sense an 'emotional' attatchment to it, even more than appreciating the actual content itself) 🤗
And such encouraging words of praise...I feel blessed!

And please please please give us more tit bits about your experiences during your diplomat-years ... I (and all other readers, I'm sure) read it awestruck like kids around their favourite story-telling aunt!

Sri, very kind words da

As for Periyamma writing fiction... If she wrote a thriller or a drama set in a bygone period imagine the discussions we could be having!!!!

Typing from Mobile - so, wouldn't bear the Lashy Georgia stampmark😆
But Periyamma, you've already typed a very long response to my previous one, so don't stress your hands with another reply for this one:)

Only explanation I can think of is Irwing Wallace's Second Lady.

Roopa in l**t with Chandra and Mukhya Rani Title, may want to replace Nandini for ever. The only goal she may have to give up is to Kill Nand by her hands . But she knows Chandra will do it.

Otherwise these mini kidnappings and Sunanda's goals all look very hazy. Infact Sunanda's look these days is such that she does not know what to do. She cannot be considered as any part time villain in the story.

Wasn't it really!😎 It was so tension mounted and action packed and the images so vivid and realistic that I could just visualise Akbar's TWANG midair and actually feel the relief after that. Lashy has outdone herself in this run and chase adventure.👏

What a treat it would be if translated on screen!

(Unless of course the copyrights are by Ekta and screenplay would be so modified that Heera would give a 2 page lecture to Khalil and Akbar would wander about in the forest aimlessly wiping his eyes when he accidentally drops into the encampment.)

He won't even have to drop in anywhere. Khalil will be so shellshocked by Heera's bhashan that he will run away just to escape it, and the Parnagarhis will be safe with no exertion required on the part of the hero at all.

Jokes apart, it was a most unpleasant diptych, and I could barely get thru it to the climax. It was too real, and then I remembered all the real life cases where there was no rescue. It made me sick to think of all those other girls.

But aunty, he has you well prepared to take on the imps and chimps the forum 😆

I wouldn't wish the PD on any female...but really during that scenes where he was yo-yoing in his character, I though for a brief moment I am looking at myself...except he looks like a sculpted greek god, and I shall not write what is running in my head as description of myself...😛

Even now. He taunted her during the trials, and he was short of stomping his feet when Chanakya told him he has to choose Nandini as the Mukya Maharani and he looked like someone offered him a roadkill for lunch while annoucing her as the Mukya Maharani, when all the while I can vouch the little Chandra in him is doing cartwheels at the thought of her actually going to be the mukya Maharani.

OK, my poppet, I take that back! It must have been quite unnerving. I never had any such problem, but then I have just the one kid. Which is just as well, for more of his ilk would have driven me batty!😉
