A MINI-CELEBRATION FOR MY SUCCESS IN PLOT PREDICTION

Folks,

Seeing how closely the script for tonight followed what I had predicted in my response to Sarika on prepage, viz

Now we are going to have a comical double apaharan, with Helena's goons kidnapping Roopa, whom they will take to be Nandini, while the real Nandini will be somehow discovered by Chandra in that kali gufa. He will of course assume that she had been kidnapped by Padmanand's men, and will get her back to the palace, where she will duly take part in the pooja and then leave for the village with Chandra.

What remains to be seen is what Helena makes of the reappearance of Nandini even while she is, as Helena will assume, still her prisoner. Will the Roopa angle be then revealed to her? I doubt it. She will probably go to the hiding place to check on her prisoner, only to find that Nandini, that is to say Roopa, has escaped. And so the merry go round will continue for while longer.

I for one am only waiting for the village scenes and the cow kaands!😆

I am over the moon with pleasure! 😉I have rarely been able to second guess the CVs to such an extent. The only thing I got wrong is that I thought the identity of Roopa would not be revealed to Helena right now.

Also, I had presumed that Roopa would be kept corked up in the secret room in the palace while Nandini was away in the palace. But seeing the way in which she is running amok, that was hardly something the Aapama-Sunanda duo could have pulled off. 😉

Roopa is now like the bull at a Spanish corrida, and all that remains to be seen is how many get gored before she is corralled.

In this post, I had written about her :

Or would she switch plans, try to eliminate Nandini altogether and replace her in Chandra's life, however tough such a transformation might seem for Roopa to pull off? We have to wait and watch.

This has clearly come to pass now. I am sure she is going to keep up her efforts to this end in the village as well.

But I have no idea how Roopa proposes to pass off as Nandini for the long term without even this less than astute Chandra spotting the switch. 😉Especially when she starts tossing around or shredding Nandini's precious pustakein!

What I liked the best today was the tone of Chandra's voice when he finds the unconscious Nandini in the cave. It is almost suspended with shock and fear, not hoarse, but very odd sounding and desperate. Excellent voice control by Rajat. 👏

Amina, the royal couple are supposed to live exactly like the poor villagers, so no takiya. Anyhow, she gets an even better substitute, does she not?😉

Congrats Aunty on the grand success of your plot prediction. Mine never do. It must have been an absolutely thrilling moment to feel that you too could think like a CV and second guess them. I have tried this endless times but I never seem to succeed. All my predictions go amiss. Why can I never think like a CV?

Well, my dear, I do not think my record in this matter is much better than yours, and in fact the proper adjective for it would be dismal! The problem is that I proceed logically, and the CVs are constitutionally averse to logic. That is why I was so startled and pleased to be mostly right for this once!😉

Oh, oh, oh! This makes your very sweet message all the more to be valued, child, and I love you for taking the trouble to send it when you must be so busy with your studies. In fact it makes me feel guilty.

Now you go right back to your prep and focus on doing your very best in the vivas and the practicals. I am sure they will go off really well. A BIG hug to you to pep you up!🤗

Well, well, well, my dear Sutapa, all this is stunningly cute, but not to speak of any comments, where is your Like? There is none on either of the two parts.

Does that mean you have not read the post at all, and this lovely message is an expression of hope rather than of satisfaction?😉

Come to think of it, Pratiksha, you could be right about what this script might reduce even Jodha's daadi to, but then she was such a pleasure to look at, with her chubby apple cheeks and ever present smile , plus loads of good sense. She did have some substantive scenes too, as when she shakes some commonsense into the rudaali Mainavati when the latter is weeping and wailing about the Jalal-Jodha marriage. This one looks like a rubber doll.

It is appalling, how badly Vidya Sinha has aged. She had a very low key and sensitive persona, and I remember thinking, when watching Rajnigandha in the theatre in 1974, how well she was able to make the long silences, in which that film abounded, speak. I have seen many of her other films- Chhoti si baat, Karm, and some others, and she was always good in a nice, gharelu kind of fashion. But the very nature of her talent limited her range, and she could not have lasted too long in any case.

Thanks a lot for flagging that lovely song for me, my dear. I loved listening to it all over again.

Dear Aunty
I had read the Jodha dadi as a better fit , point in your post and actually realised what a good cast choice it would have made 😊👏
But as far as I remember in JA Dadi didn't really have much to do and say, only for functions she appeared, as the Amer cast was pretty much on the sidelines. Even though her personality was much much more adorable, cute and Daadi-like, I believe CVs would have ruined her character also if given such OTT cupid treatment. As far as the present Dadi is concerned I have not developed any annoyance or hatred for her for only one reason - she and Rajmata help the plot move atleast, like you also pointed out.
BTW, Aunty, just yesterday I was googling Rajnigandha movie songs for Dadi Vidya Sinha. Wasn't she a beauty 😊!! My mom was telling me she used to be quite a favourite for the subtle and thinking men in those days.😳

My dear Prem,

There is not the slightest need for you to fret about not being able to comment on my recent threads. I noted that, but I knew that it was because you must have been busy.

As for this post of yours, I agree with it in toto. Especially the part in bold!😆

sorry for not replying to posts

I would like to state a few points

CGM in serial is nothing like cgm we read he is a fool who requires chankyas scoldings and punishments now and then to awaken him to his duties

In 4th bc average life span was 30-35 years and a boy would marry by 11-12 years(cgm was exception at 20). now cgm is 20 years old and thats equivalent to 21st century 40 years. so him acting jelous and dumwit is a dampner

Second issue is nandiini hidding her illness from chandra despite asking many times and blindly trusting step mom not own mom or husband

third issue is a hamshaqal roaming in magadh palace and no soldier and gaurd spotting her

If CGM was so dumb he would never become an ordinary peon or soldier forget emperor

because once magadh was won chankya went off to write arthashastra leaving cgm alone to handle

You know, Lashykanna, I say every now and then that I do not know what I would do without you, and I dare say you take that with a teeny weeny pinch of salt and smile at it. But it is something I have always meant 100%, and never more so than after reading this one.

Not only because you made time for it when you should have been in bed catching all the sleep you could before setting off on a hectic 20 day vacation which will surely leave you wrung out - for one always needs another holiday to recover from the first one, unless it has been spent mostly in a hammock with a book!😉

But also, and even more so because of what you liked, and what you loved in this post, and why. Of all my readers, you are indubitably the one nearest to my heart. For your literary sensitivity matches mine so closely that you invariably zero in on the lines, the turns of phrase, the words, that I myself was so pleased that I had thought of.

Perhaps this is because you are a creative writer, I do not know. What I do know is that it is uncanny, the way you do it - like that line about Nandini grasping at fleeting joys like a kid grasping at balloons. And hardly anyone else spots them. Which, though I should by now be mature enough not to bother about it, does disappoint me at times. And then you are genuinely interested in the odd bits and pieces I stick in, like the Thai sowing festival or President Truman's 3 cent stamps. It is thus hardly surprising that I revel in your reviews!

So thanks a million for this, my darling girl, and here is wishing you loads of fun for the next 20 days, while I read and re-read your chapters 26 & 27 at least 3 times each and think of what I want to say about them.

Affectionately,

Shyamala Periyamma

Hi, Aunty
Will address u as so, as your wish is my command😉, personally I prefer using name, a cultural thing. Anyway, I like your well balanced analysis.👏. and your analogy suits right in.
Shanan...ahhh, what can I say, Chandra is a stickler of hygiene,😉 and fully support it, for the obvious reason😆😉. I personally prefer the rooftop shanankash😆
Diva scene- more than the presentation,It was pleasing, to see two of them warming up. Not only both were visually appealing, but were quite expressive.
Like I said earlier, I admire the insanely genius Chankya, but in the show the character is off-Puting
So there is a mrs. Chankya and a beti Chankya. Seems like soon will be part of the circus act at maghadh palace.🤢
Roopa, haven't watched much of her, but a temperamental, with a raucous attitude. A total contrast to her twin.i don't think two witches can curb her. I kinda like her rustic lingo. Btw. Does Sunanda have any motive for the foul act.?
MMP . Ay..Caramba...so dadi is being chewed out..😆, u have a pretty rational write up. My only concern is for maghadvasi. A cookie or a cocky maharani, it's a lose lose situation .At least sane napit putri is a sensible choice.
With so liberal use of Urdu words, and even English words, I wouldn't be surprised if some day.
Chandra.. Babe, muje tumse beinteha love hai.
Nandini... honey, love u hamesha.
(Shouldn't there be proof reading, or even the actors don't notice it) pretty dumb. Even in one of the scene Chaya was wearing heels. I mean seriously...how careless is that ...
And now coming to our dorky Chandra.... This guy makes viewers go on teeter- totter. One scene he would be making Nandini a perfect woman ( viewers go up) next scene he would lash out for charitrahin nari( viewers go down😭) . And the pattern continues.
I'm positive he will pull this one ( Roopa Kand). If writers r even half as smart as I'm, 😆. They need to, for the damage control. But...we got to be wise enough, not to bet life savings on Ekta's show😆
U take it easy.

Akka - But then you are one hell of a writer and so is Lashy.

No surprises that she catches the tiniest and most interesting pieces of your writing.

I read her latest two parts - Tender, loving, deep romance comes to her so naturally. 👏

Sri,

You are so extravagantly good to me that your first line comes as no surprise. About Lashy, you are spot on. Only, she is a creative writer, whereas I am an analytical one. I have never tried my hand at fiction, but I have serious doubts about being able to pull it off!
