Avantika we can see both the posts. And they are the same. This means it is a double post. I have faced this situation sometimes too.Whenever your network connection gets snapped exactly at the time of posting reply, there are chances the message is not posted and the entire thing you have typed goes missing. I hope you usually do your chapters first on word, edit them, save them and then post them. That way you will not loose your precious stuff.

So now to your chapter. Vrushali is trying to harm Nandini and has ingratiated herself with Chandra saying she is his friend's wife. Chanakya and Helena are suspecting her intentions. Some mystery person, most probably Malayketu is helping Vrishali. Very nice!

Your Helena - i have fallen in love with her characterisation in your FF, of all the FFs and the Show.

Wow, what a selfless woman !!! Infertile but Strong willed, Wife by name but more of a reliable warrior who will stand by Chandra, Young enough for a Patrani but smart enough to pack her own mother back to Macedonia when she found her poisoning her mind against Nandini, a strong strategist to discuss battle tactics and reason with Chanakya, a woman who sniffed something is wrong with Chandra's attitude when Durdhara and Nandini did not doubt an inch about the scratch on Chandra's neck and promptly went about finding out the truth through Chanakya and his spies.

I was a little upset during the earlier chapters where she called Nandini a Puppy. I thought this woman was shrewd. But she actually turned out to be a Protective guardian angel of her own Sauten and her child ????!!!!!! Amazing.

For heaven's sake, let this Helena be a goody goody angel for a change. Let her not turn into a vamp like the Show.

And Avantika, Nandini's Mom - An Ayurvedic Specialist !! Wow, she found something worth doing, unlike the Show's Avantika who simply occupy screen space and shedding tears.

CHAPTER 24

Pataliputra roared with rage for it now was awake from its peaceful slumber after night. The shops were stuffed and street vendors made the street extremely narrow forcing people to walk in a straight file like soldiers going to battle.Shops of all different species stood on either side of the street obediently.
Large wagons decorated with a collage of vegetable were parked beside the street and their owners stood beside them screaming prices.They had a carrot in their hands which they would use to wade of the flies pointlessly dancing around the vegetables.The sun warmed up the city as it went up high in the sky.The citizens were narrowing the wide roads.

Chandragupt along with Durdhara and Nandini was getting ready to go Krishna Temple. After long time Nandini expressed her desire to Go to temple. He was not inclined to take her because of safety constraints . Durdhara persuaded Chandragupt in this issue so he obliged to their demands.
All three were seated in A chariot and passed through the Rajmarg. Soon they reached the temple. Durdhara and Nandini went inside temple to pray while Chandragupt was standing outside the temple. Since he was a non believer of God,He chose to stand out. He was lost in a deep thought. He came into consciousness only after he felt someone's hand on his shoulder. He turned back and immediately recognized that it was his long dead friend Giridhar's Mother. With her stands one young woman carrying a child in her arms. Two other children were also with them.
Chandragupt fell on the feet of his friend's mother"Ma... How are you"?
OLd woman was taken aback by his kind gesture and she softly spoke"Yashasvi Bhava !My dear Boy, HOw are you.. I am delighted to hear that you were crowned as a King. If my Giridhar is alive he will be very happy for you."
"Ma .. I am your son too... How many days you have fed me with your own hands..."
OLd woman was very happy after listening his words.Tears rolled down from her cheek.Chandragupt Wiped those tears with his hands.
"Son,I am was very apprehensive about relocation to this new city. Myself and she is my daughterin law Sudha left with no options. We have three children to take care.Can you help us by providing any job . MYself and My daughter inlaw are good at weaving..
Chandragupt ""MOther you surprise me.. .I will definitely help you to set up a business. As regards to your grandchildren I personally take care of their nuturing. After a long thought "Ma.. Does Giridhar know any girl called as Vrushali..?I mean in Pataliputra.?
Old woman after a long pause "No my boy, Giridhar does not know anyone else ...
Chandragupt understood that something is terribly wrong with Vrushali. He recalled that Vrushali identified herself with Giridhar.But why she spoke a lie.. "This has to be verified ..Else it would be too late " He decided to bring out the truth. Chandra bid farewell to Old woman and asked his minister Dhanapal to arrange everything for Giridhar's family.Chandra assured that he will visit them personally with Durdhara after some days.
Meanwhile Nandini and Durdhara came outside after elaborate prayers. Durdhara stuffed Chandra's mouth with Prasad . Chandra gupt " Your Krishna has a good taste.. I admit... these Temple cooks are more talented than palace cooks."With a icy smirk on his face
Nandini "Yes Maharaj, its because Lord graces his mercy on the prasad. In palace you dont have time to even look at your plate whats being served. So you may not relish the taste...""
Chandra made funny face "Ok ,stop this Krishna Bhajan..Shall we start."
He led them outside the temple. POinting to one house "Nandini,Durdhara do you see a house there..ITs my Friends house.. Can we go in there..?They will be happy to see you all.Both of them happily agreed . Within a span of 5 minutes all of them landed before the door of Vrishali's house.
Chandra knocked the door twice. There was no response from other side. He turned the knob and was amazed to find the door was unlocked.
Durdhara :"Chandra.. I think its not proper for us to enter the house.""
Chandra "No Durdhara ,They are my close ally.. they will not mistake..""

Nandini was observing the house while Durdhara was sitting in the chair. Chandragupt searched whole house to find Vrishali ,but in vain
"Maharaj.. Is your friend belong to Parvartak Rajya... ? Look here.. he has all the vases made from Parvartak. Even this bedspread is Parvartak rajya's specialty.
Chandra gupt""are you sure Nandini"?
Nandini "I personally know as my father used to collect these things ".
Chandragupt got a spark from her words. He acted soon without wasting time.
"Nandini..its getting late for lunch.Come on lets make a move. Durdhara please take Her to palace as soon as possible. I will come in next one hour. If I did not return,bring acharya and Helena to this house.COmon quick.
After they vacated the house,Chandra inspected the house again and after a span of time he found a secret hallway. As He was about to enter the hallway,he heard Vrishali coming. He quickly jumped from the rear window and hid himself behind tree. She opened the door and was astonished to see that it was broken. She was further tensed as she was touched by Mantra in back
"Mantra... What is happening... Did any one broke into our house?""
"No ..Vrishali.. I just now checked the house except for the front door nothing is touched.Rest assure... It could have been my mistake that I have left the door Unlocked.
Vrishali casted an angry look
"Mantra.. How can you be so careless.. What reply will be left for us to say unto Maharaj..What about our mission""
"Say Vrishali... That your mission is a success""An voice sounded like a thunder. As they both looked at the direction of voice ,they were terrified seeing Chanakya along with Chandragupt and HElena.
HElena ordered the soldiers"Common take them... Quick""
Soldiers chained them .Chanakya went closer to Vrishali and "You are very beautiful Vrishali... Dangerously beautiful... You have wasted your life on that useless KIng"Its too late.. NOw you have to write what I say ". Handing her a piece of parchment" Write,That you have fooled Chandragupt. YOU can now attack him on GodhBharai of Nandini""
VRishali wrote the letter and Chanakya snatched it from her . He called his soldier and "Hand this letter to Paravartak Maharaj,who has camped on Sharavasti. Vrishali was taken into custody .

IN the evening at Royal Palce
Chandragupt was seated in his throne. HIs prime minister briefed about the arrangements they have made for Godhbharai of Nandini. He asked Acharaya about the invitees of the function. Chanakya instructed the prime minister about whom to invite for GodhBharai of Nandini.

"Dhanapal, Send this invitation to Parvartak Maharaj.I dont care who is going to attend or not.. Parvartak should attend.
Chandragupt" Why cant we wage a war now Acharaya?"
Chanakya" MY dear boy,Not all battles are fought in battleground. SOme battles can be fought with mind too.Parvartak is not only your enemy but he is your brother in law Malya''s father too. Parvartak is lustful creature. We should give him a nice treat.
CHandra impatiently retorted"How Acharya"
" Vishaka will wage a war instead of us... Let me assure you,that this war is going to be very romantic.More romantic than Yayati's tale...
Chanakya replied cunningly.

Chapter 25

That Night.

Durdhara was sitting in her bed . She was preparing Garland for Ishwar. She is doing it religiously every Monday . Why! Well she is very desperate to become Mother. This does not mean that she is jealous of Nandini.As All girls,she too wanted to enjoy the wonderful experience of Motherhood,which Nature has bestowed upon ladies alone. Avantika is who had given this suggestion for offering garland and even Her Mother In Law Moora,too has kept this Mannat for getting Chandra. Thats why His Birth Name is Chandrasekhar named After Lord Shiva of Pataliputra.

Just then She saw Chandragupt entering her Chambers.Without any Delay " Chandra.. Tum .. Is Vakt yahan.. Tum ko Nandini ke samaksh Hona chahiye.

Chandra" Durdhara... Tum be to mere Patni ho.. Kyun Mein yahan nahi Aa sakta hoon. Aj Ma hei uski Samaksh. Tum Vichilit Na hona.

Durdhara "Chandra... I will get you Dinner you must be hungry?:"

Chandra yes my dear.. Did not eat anything since morning. I HAD to interrogate Vrishli. Etc

Durdhara yes i will come in a jiffy..

She took a silver plate stuffed with roti,rice ,dal came to him .

Chandra "durdhara.. yeh kya he.. mein garb stri nahi hoon.. kya he yeh.. kahan hein meri masala murgi aur kabab?

Durdhara "chup.. yehi sehat ke liye acha hein.. tum bi Nandini jaise bahut masala kate ho...isliya aj yehi kana.."

Both sat down to eat. Chandragupt took a morsel of Rice and Sweetly fed Durdhara with his own Hands. Durdhara Too returned his gesture by feeding him lovingly with her hands. After sometime THey both sat down to chit chat.

Durdhara "Chandra... YOu have married three times. One Wife Helena who is supporting you in running this Rajya. Another one is nandini Who is Giving you Heir. I am The only one who is useless as log of wood. Neither I can help you running this Rajya nor give you any Children. I hate myself as I am Barren. Though I am Happy for you and Nandini,I cannot forgive myself in this account Chandra.I don't care what others call me... But Still..

Chandra"Durdhara... Who spoke any thing to you ... ?I will not spare them.. See Its not in our hands.. When The baby is going to come.. It will come...Tum kyun yesi vyarth sochti ho..

Durdhara" See.. its open secret... That On What circumstances we married. Really,nobody says me Barren,they accuse you... I have heard some gossip going around the palace that You are not treating your wives equal. Something like that.

Chandra closed his eyes and "What they say is right... I was indifferent to you... I did not care you.. It was so apparent after my wedding with Nandini... May be Its a fact... I really drifted from my duties..Now coming to your problem.Durdhara even If you are going to give me no children I always Love you. I admit I married you for money. But it does not mean that I hate you. I always love you.. Your place in my heart ,no body can take. Again It does not mean That I love less Helena or love more Nandini...I love them for what they are. BUt Durdhara.For you My heart always beats ... I am indebted to your love towards me.. This is pure without any tinge of contamination.

Durdhara "Chandra... I always knew you love me.. Still...

Chandra"Durdhara.. My dear .. Don't be harsh... Lets give some time for it.. Are you taking any medicines from Avantika ma

Durdhara "Yes... "

Chandra"Durdhara... I don't know.. whether its is correct on our part to trust Nandini's Ma.. Because sometimes I feel that she gives more importance to Nandini to get baby soon.. Thats not wrong ,but all these years she was Nand's wife.. She can do anything ..

Durdhara" Chandra aisa kuch bhi nahi... Acharya ne mujhe pehle se yeh bata diya.. Thats why he always cross checks the medicines prepared by Avantika ma.. And you know what ?she is giving correct medicines.. More than that.. Avantika Ma cannot go against nandini. IF she comes to know that she did wrong with me ..thats all..

Chandra"Nandini.. is most craziest person when it comes to love and affection... You know she loves me very badly ... Sometimes I pity her... Why she is getting emotionally attached I don't know..Durdhara! I have to share this burden with you..

Durhdara got tensed "Burden what is it tell me.."

Chandra quiet sadly "Nandini is having lots of complication in this gestation.IT seems her blood pressure is always high and she is anemic. she may deliver before her time. I am worried as her weight is not getting increased.Acharya too got very tensed when vaidya said this too us. Nandini does not know this...

Durdhara "Chandra! This is very serious issue,... I will go to her tomorrow and check what she does...YOu promise me that you don't get tensed Chandra.

Chandra" What we can do.. your Ishwar always tests me... Iam hoping for worst... I don't know why its like this...

Durdhara hugged him. "Chandra Don't worry.. Nothing bad can happen to you"

Chandra CLosed his eyes and Kissed in her forehead"Sweet heart...I cannot control what is going to happen.. But If you are with me.. I think I can face any worst situation.

Durdhara cupped his face" Thanks for this trust in me Chandra..."

Both were in state of pure bliss,which is beyond description of words. THough they were friends, This time they were having pleasures of Shringara Rasa. Moon went up in the sky and stars started shining brightly than ever. Cool breeze blew and curtains were dancing to its tune.

Everything was perfect till the gratifying conclusion. After that. Chandragupt and Durdhara were awaken by a sudden shrill of a Lady.Who was none other than Moora.

They quickly changed and went to the corridor where Moora was crying.
When he was about to ask He saw his grandmother with newborn child. He understood "Pitamahi..Kahan hei Chaya... ?"

"Chandra..woh prasav ke samay hi mar gayi.."

Durdhara"Dadi.. Ap kya keh rahe hein.. Hum ko to yeh samachar mila ki nanand ji swasth thi"

"JHoot tha.. Woh mar gayi..."
Chandra cried " Malay.. why he did not inform me "

Grandmother" Kyun ki.woh bhi mila hua hei raja ke sath. Woh hamesh a Chaya se durvyavhar kiya ta.. Bechari ab mar gayi...MUjhe be nazarband mein rakha. Par Rani ne muje bahut katinaye ke bad mujhe yehan sahi salamt bej diya..Parvartak Is thinking that I am have missed the route or lost ..

Durdhara took that small baby of Chaya " Chandra... Kitni pyari hei na..."

Chandra looked at his niece" Ma..Pitamahi.. Mein ab tak jeevit hoon... Us Ishwar ko sakshi mankar yeh satya karta hoon kiYeh he meri pehli santan hai.aur rahegi.Iske sath anyay hua hei.. Us ka bhi badla lekar rahoonga.

By that time all including Acharya,Helena and Nandini came.

Nandini cried upon learning the truth and Helena tried to console her .

"Nandini.. Don't cry.. it may affect the your baby"

"NO HElena...I have to cry today...I had some issues with Chaya.. But it does not mean That I hate her "Saying this she took the baby into her arms

"Ma ..Maharaj How sweet is she... She is exactly like a lotus... Yes Her name will be Mrinalini".

Everybody for sometime stopped crying and said that it was beautiful name.

Helena looked at Chandra pleadingly"CHandra . can I keep her with me.. "

Chandra was very happy" Sure... She is our child...Helena She is my first born..."

Acharaya too acknowledged it.

"BUt.. Let baby and Grandma be in secret room,till we tackle parvartak and Malyaketu.. Don't trust him either. Mrinalini ! will be here only... Don't get emotional and Hand over to Malay...Chanakya said assertively

Nand

Nand was getting some news regrading Nandini's pregnancy.He was very happy for sometime and took an chest from his bedside drawer

"Amatya!look at this.. this is rattle... this is silken dress for both boy and girl... This is anklet..."All these I made for Nandini when She was born.Now she is going to become Mother... That too she is carrying my arch enemy's child..wah... Uparwala...

I am happy for my daughter and son in law too.despite marrying 3 wives,,,ONly my daughter made him father... Scientifically my ansh is going to be his first born... Ha ha ha .

Nand laughed Hysterically..."What a pity... He cannot wipe my traces... ha ha I won Amatya.. Amatya... I have to send some present to my Son IN law.

Amatya "Maharaj! ?"

Nand clapped his hands"Come in Sunitha..."

Sunitha came and folded her hands before him.

"Sunitha...time to prove your loyalty. Go and seduce Chandragupt and send him to house of Yama.. For that I have brought you affluently more than my daughter..today my daughter deserted me..No she is long dead for me my queen mocks at my state.I rely on you alone Putri ..You are my last weapon ...last hope for Winning back my Magadh .Your one Kiss is enough to poison him .. Go "

Helena room next day

"Dasi.. how long you are taking.. look my baby is crying.give the milk fast"Helena carefully made baby drink . Mrinalini was cuddled in blanket of love.Helena never left her alone even for 1 second.She was over protective.

Chandra entered the room along with Nandini.

"Didi... mein kya apki madad kar sakti hoon"

Helena zaroor. .par ab meri pari so rahi he.filhal kuch samay bad.

Chandragupt "ok.. but i am her dad..give her to me"

Helena "Chandra this is not your courtroom...You cannot order me... Because Mrinalini is my daughter now.."

Nandini smiled "helena didi.. will you love my baby if something bad happens and if i die"

Helena was shocked and so is Chandra.

A very eventful chapter and well-written chapter. All the characters are coming out beautifully. The plot is fast-paced. Malayketu tortured Dadi and Chaaya? How dare he? I want Chandra to properly punish him and his dad.

Chapter 26

After 3 days

Moora and Others were listening to Ramayana. Nandini was also with them.The particular sequence which denotes life of Ram And Sita in Panchavati.

The performer sang

Vana-upavana sama kupina aantar (2)
Swagat hetu ahar-nish dolit, lohit nava pallabh-kar
kupina aantar... (giggling) kupina aantar

in this song Sitaji express her feelings of her life in Panchvati.She and Ram was very happy.There were many trees that brighten the mountains.There was trees of Saala, Palmyra, Tamaala, Date Palms, Jackfruit and also thus with Punnaagaa. With Chuuta - Sweet Mango; Ashoka, Tialaka, even with Ketaka, Champaka trees, itentwined are those trees with flowered shrubs, and along with climbers. Everything was fine until the Surpanaka sister of Ravana saw Ram.

At this point Durdhara came inside the room and was sweating as though she walked in the rains.Nandini signaled performers to stop telling Ramayana.Moora felt that this is very bad omen to stop at sad part of Ramayana,but still preferred to keep quiet.

Durdhara could not lift her eyes or look unto Nandini.Nandini tried to give her water but she denied it and on some pretext left the arena.Nandini felt something is wrong somewhere.Avantika held her and assured may be Durdhara is not well.

Moora" Beta.. aj din bahut lamha hai.. Jakar tum Vishram Karo"

Nandini smiled like an innocent child.She returned to her room.

Chandragupt was discussing some official matter with Helena. He was interrupted by his guards saying People's Representative wants his audience on urgent matter.

Later Chandragupt summoned people's representatives.

Chandra "Mukya pramukiyon.. Aj Meri Acharaya Kaushambi ki tak pravas kiya hei..Kya kuch din ruk nahi sakti.."

Representative insisted that they cannot postpone the case citing it as most important problem and justice has to be delivered now.Left with no choice he ordered to assemble everyone in court.

Chandragupt summoned all his top notch ministers,Helena and asked the court to proceed once they all assembled. Top minister Radhagupta who is assistant of Chanakya addressed the august gathering

"Mein Radhagupta.. Minister of His highness of Magadh,student of VishnuGupt.Say without fear what sought you at this hour.

Representatives" The harvest crop has been set fire and Well water which we are using for irrigation and Cattle are poisoned. As a result 20 children and 50 bovine are dead.

Chandragupt" Atrocious Who is having such courage to cause this much damage.Who wants to cease his life . Do you doubt anyone. Even If it is Lord of Heaven ,please say without fear. I will take him to task.In my court God and Common are equal.

Representatives were looking at each other and they were hesitant to speak.

They look at each other and said Majesty" We have an eye witness. Her name "is Suprat."

Chandragupt " May Suprata be called at once"

Suprat was asked to narrate what he saw."Majesty,My name is Suprata I name of Chandrasekhar Swamy I swear to tell truth. I along with my friends were returning from field. Suddenly we saw someone transgressing unto harvest yield . next minute It was all set fire.When we were running to bring help,suddenly the figure went near well and dropped a bag of herb like thing. Upon inspecting we found these anklets and signet ring near the well.Next day all children and cattle were died.

Saying Suprat gave it to Chandragupt. As he laid glance on it,he was shocked.

Quickly ,in a very stern and rude tone.he summoned Dasi.

"Bring Maharani Nandini without any delay.

Within five minutes Nandini was brought in to the court. Avantika ,Moora Brihati,Durdhara all came.She was informed of all the events and was asked to give her statement.

"Maharaj.. Mein yehi upastit thi.. kal ...meri par koi arop laga raha hei..

Chandragupt" can anyone give you testimony"?

"Yes Maharaj.. Rani Durdhara was with me.."

Chandragupt called Durdhara.

"Durdhara..was nandini with you ..."?

Durdhara swallowed a gulp and with low voice

"NO MAHARAJ.. sHE WENT OUT ON PRETEXT OF VISITING KRISHNA TEMPLE,.I WAITED FOR SOMET TIME,THEN I CAME BACK TO MY ROOM.I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ,MORE THAN THIS

At this point Helena interrupted "How Durdhara.. YOu allowed her to go all alone.. You never left her alone all these days after she became pregnant.Like a shadow you were with her. How suddenly you left her ?

Durdhara" Patrani.. She said she wanted to go all alone. So I did not press her".Durdhara looked at nandini ,She was in verge of crying and her eyes expressed this " Durdhara ,...what Wrong did I do for you"Durdahra could not see her. She turned her look .far away.

Chandragupt turning to Nandini"Do you have any other evidence"?

Nandini in tears"ONLy Durdhara and Lord Krishna is my evidence. Since Durdhara is not saying the truth.. I have to summon only HIm"

Chandragupt" THis is not HioranyaKashyap's court. Where lord comes as Prahalad utttered his name. This Is Mauryan court.nandini Grow up...

Avantika " Maharaj.. Koi galat fehmi hui hei.. Nandini aise nahi kar sakti hei.. Woh Magadh ki praja ki balai hi chahati hei".

Chandragupt" Ma.. Apki Putri nand ki beti hei.. Mein kyun apki beti par vishwas karoon He showed
this anklet and signet both I presented to you on your birthday. I know.. now dont say it has been stolen only yesterday.

Nandini"No my Lord... I am helpless but the fact is its missing since yesterday.."

Chandra " I knew... Nandini... How many days you were planning.. "

Nandini "No Maharaj.. I am speaking truth"

Chandragupt" Suprat.. Did you saw this lady"

Suprat " Lord.. I did not see clearly ..but whom I saw was definitely woman and was walking very slowly,still she was ahead of us.. We could not reach her.. I saw her stomach was bulge..

Chandragupt with highly enraged tone was about to deliver justice but,Helena tried to bring him to senses

"Maharaj.. Please... I think Nandini is innocent. She is pregnant and how can she do all by herself".?

cHANDRA "Agreed.. how can you explain this... this anklet and signet both I presented on her birthday. Helena. She is Nand Putri.. She can do anything..Not only that She was once betrothed to Malay.. handsome son of Parvartak. Just because he was after this nandini.he killed my sister...Who knows... What all things she has done behind my back..."

Nandini hope was smashed and she died there itself mentally when Chandragupt addresed her Nand Putri... She does not want to live.

Chandragupt rose up from his seat and

Since all witness is against you ... I am giving you sentence befitting your crime..

Nandini ear were ringing with his venomous word" Am I only One father"...

Without waiting or looking for anyone Chandragupt returned to his room and gave orders to his guards not to allow anyone inside till nandini's sentence is executed.

Avantika and Moora were wailing as nandini was whisked away to Prison in chains.Helena was watching helplessly and Durdhara went inside the room and locked herself . She was crying as she spoke a very big Lie against innocent nandini.Helena became doubtful on Durdhara but she could not speak to her AS she cannot prove anything.At last Helena confronted Chandragupt and pleaded him to wait till Chanakya return. But Chandragupt was adamant and said

"Helena.. Tum isme mat pado...Mein ne jo bhi kiya me Raja hone ki bati kiya..."

Helena"Chandra.. she is carrying your progeny"

Chandra"What ... My progeny...?"

Helena became distasteful at his remark" Nandini..jo bhi ho.. vaishya nahi".

kal kya tum muje bhi vaishya kehoge"?

Chandragupt" Muje parvah nahi.. ki voh meri santan hei ya nahi... Woh Mrityu ki patr hei... She killed 20 children".

Helena "Kal agar woh sachi nikali..kya karoge".

Chandragupt was silent ..Helena"Wah Chandra... You are so selfish and rude.. Chandragupt "Helena... Stop it..."

Helena" yes.. I dont want to talk to you".

Chandra" I am blessed with your decision"

Helena left the room.She sent her spies to Chanakya about current Development.Unfortunately,when the message reached him.it was too late for him to do anything as just few hours was remaining for execution of punishment.This news as forest fire spread to nand's camp.But Nand just dratted tears and turned to Amatya" My sins... is befalling upon my daughter. I cannot do anything... Nor I am behind this happenings.

Amatya"Maharaj.. Meinvachan deta hoon.hum pratishod lekhar hi rehenge."

nand" What I am going to gain..?.

He went to his bed and clutched some things of nandini and cried.

Amatya too felt very bad.

Nandini was sitting in the prison which had only one light. Gaurds gave her food,but she declined it. She sat and remembered all the events of her life.She felt baby kicking inside her womb" Putra... Muje kshama kardo.. Agar agli janam mein tum Durdhara ya Helena ke khof se janam lelo,tab hi tumhe pita ka sneh milege...Mein Kuch nahi kar sakti... Tere pita ne muje vaishya keh diye.. Wohi mere liye jan levak hei...

She heard bells of Krishna temple ringing and she felt as though Lord says"I have better plans for you".

"Krishna.. you too left me"...Nandini cried helplessly.

Avantika, there are several points which I wanted to make after reading this current chapter:

1) This misunderstanding twist came rather suddenly out of the blue. So I must appreciate you on maintaining the surprise element of the story.

2) I liked the fact that you introduced Acharya Chanakya's important student Radhagupt, who went on to become Chandragupt's grandson, Ashok's Prime Minister and was also a very key figure and a kingmaker in the rise of Ashok to the throne in this chapter. I found his inclusion historically relevant.

3) I could understand that Durdhara is highly insecure and is hiding something which could exonerate Nandini or at least provide her an alibi that she was elsewhere at this time for her own reasons. I will not judge about that before I read your forthcoming chapters.

4) You did foreshadow about the coming misunderstanding by including that passage from Ramayan about the coming of the Snake in the Grass, the Surpanakha of distrust and hurting words in the relationship of Chandra and Nandini. That description was very well done.

5) Now to the aspects which left me questioning Chandra's judgement as a king. Nandini's ring and anklet were found near the crime scene. I get that. But the judgement and inquiry into it were very lopsided.

6) A pregnant queen wouldn't have gone and done all this herself. Burning the entire harvest and then proceeding to poison the well are pretty big things. She would have hired a mercenary to do her job.

7) Even if Nandini was doing it, she wouldn't have left behind all her jewels like that carelessly. It looks like a sure case of somebody incriminating the queen who was carrying the emperor's first born in her womb.

8) Finally everything that was revealed by the investigation of the witnesses was Durdhara claimed that she hadn't been with Nandini at the time when this crime took place. It just reveals lack of alibi not evidence that the person in question committed the crime.

9) The second witness Suprat merely tells that he found these jewels near the site of crime and the person who was doing it was a woman with a bulging stomach. He also confirms he never saw the face of the lady. How difficult is it to impersonate a pregnant lady?

10) So I had issues with the way Chandra was dealing with the case. Though Nandini had no evidence to prove she was innocent, but even the evidence against her was such that it can be hotly disputed because it does not exactly prove her guilty either. Lack of alibi, a few incriminating personal belongings found at the crime spot, and a few coincidences do not mean the person is exactly guilty. In a regular enquiry, they are investigated properly before passing a judgement like this of such magnitude.

11) Another fact I didn't like Chandra in this chapter was calling Nandini a prostitute and raising his doubts on the paternity of the child in the open court. This is absolutely not done. However I liked the fact that Helena does try to defend and express her doubts.

12) A final point, even if Nandini was guilty, in those days, I hardly think kings executed pregnant women. So the judgement must have been something like drown Nandini after she gives birth to the child. So the judgement would have been implemented only after the childbirth. At least that was what a king like Chandra would and should have done.

13) So unless you are planning a kind of reboot of the Nandini walling in track here and intend to show that Chandra exactly has a hidden plan to find the true culprit and has included Nandini in it, this whole thing was very disturbing for me. How is Nandini ever going to forgive a man who never trusts her, uses her, calls her a prostitute, disowns her child, gives her the death sentence without going into the depth of everything? There will be no love story after this.
