In all this, it is still not at all clear what game plan Sunanda has, over all above collecing mudras from Aapama, or whether she has any game plan at all. Or it is just another of her business as usual deals, using Roopa as she had done before?

I doubt if even the CVs know at this point!😆

Well, for one thing it is no secret that Helena wants to rid of Nandini. Even the walls of Magadh shoudl know this, what with her first action after winning the war was to put only Nandini in the open jail (which btw i have always wondered, how does the prisoner answer natures calls? hardly any enclosures or any means to do that. At least in Bahubali, Anouskha had an underground cell). Then she had a match with Moora no less about why she released Nandini once her wedding to Chandra was fixed. This always baffled me though. She convinces Chandra to marry Nandini, but expect that Nandini who then will be a maharani too, to be put up in chains? Seriously?

And her final act of putting Nandini in jail once again when Chandra got hurt, with Nandini wailing she has the antidote.

All this were publically done. So everyone knows Helena hates Nandini. So Aapama would be an obvious choice to team up to because everyone also knows Helena is abit of a loose canon and does not think cleverly.

Chanakya better have a clever reason for his missing. Because he is been missing way too much for a prime minister.

And Roopa - i am loving her, especially her teasing of Chandra and her flirting of Malay. Because both men deserve to be made stupid by a cheeky Roopa

Chanakiya wonderwhere he gone takshila ?
Well this roopa is here to stay Anne one more energy bunny to list dur and i see roopa jumping sitting but i mustsay yeh roopa badi chalu chiz😳 is a good thing shedoesntuse colourful language 🤪

Not to worry, Akka dearest. I know you wrote it for fun.🤗

It is just that I pride myself on being an objective analyst, insofar as anyone can be objective, and I do not like being labelled as anyone's fan. Not even Rajat's. Or the young Kamalahaasan's.

The only ones I really adored uncritically, because I was young enough for that then, were Humphrey Bogart,Fred Astaire, and the very early Amitabh Bachchan. And Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind.

**Thank you for pointing me out your stand.
I wrote it merely for fun and I did not mean anything very serious.. and I can't be also very serious.
And my knowledge about any Hindi serials other than Jodha Akbar is nil., and I didn't have any chance to either see Mohit or Manish perform or read about your comments about them..Sorry.
No such thing will recur in future.
Yours
Saraswathi Akka.

My dear Debastuti,

I am so sorry that in all this going back and forth thru the pages, I somehow missed this post, but here I am now!

What an energetic and warm set of comments, my dear! Thank you so much. I am especially pleased that you liked the opening sequence. And your closing line is very generous,

I agree completely with you about Chandra 2, whom I have skewered at length in my earlier post, but with these last 2 episodes, he seems to have vanished and been replaced by this sundar vaanar. Let us see where we go from here.

For now, as I wrote to you earlier, I loved their comfy, warm scenes together, especially the one where she helps him select the best gift for his mother. The childlike pleasure with which she arranges all those childhood items and the look on Chandra's face as he watches her doing that were both inimitable.

What a wonderful, cinematic beautiful start of this fantabulous post Aunty! The title Turbulent tides and the description of the storm just explains how it feels after watching this sudden declination of the show! 🥱

Just loved ur post Aunty!⭐️ Ur pointwise analysis on every segment with the little bit pinch of humour not only becomes a great and crispy read after half-an-hour consumption of a bitter karela juice😆, but also helps to find out the highlights, the brighter angles to enjoy the episodes. Ur posts are like life-saving boats in this turbulent tide.😆😉
Nowadays watching CN is very tiring and often a mental torture for me.😭 The cvs just have butchered every little bit of the show. They don't have any idea how to tackle a sensible lovestory!😲 First of all they totally ditched us with those superb promos, gave us back to back linkless, aweful episodes. After that, just when the episodes started doing better, with Chandra and Nandini started growing on us as individuals as well as a beautiful pair, without giving them and us any scope to relish the falling-in-love-realisation period they introduced such a distasteful track without any head or tail! What is this?😡😕
I don't understand what is the problem of them. They madly rushed the portion of Chandra becoming the king! They completed the after-marriage hatred story in merely 3 weeks ( where I was confused from the first to last😆 ) then Chandra and Nandini got only 3 episodes to fall for each other completely. Now hate story is completed, leads have fallen in love, the villain has disappeared, and Cvs don't know what to do now. So for what reason they rushed in zet speed 1month ago? To drag this nasty track and to give the viewers headache? Are they planning to shape the whole love story with this dirty things like husband doubting and accusing the wife to have an affair and wife crying buckets as she is helpless in love etc?😡😡😡
The story has just started flowing beautifully. With the increasing comfort between the leads, the concern of them for each other, Nandini's dilemma in helping her father and at last saving Chandra.s life from poison arrow, the whole journey was so soothing... even the conversation between duo, which starts from sloka and ended with a casual exchange of their views on love, ended abruptly with the sudden entry of the vamps, and the whole essence ruined with the end of Chandra 1.😕
U have pictured the contrast between Chandra's usual characterization and this abrupt change in his personality perfectly in ur previous post.❤️( I read it thoroughly and typed a response too which got deleted due to poor network😭) this Chandra 2 has completely become a foul character!🤢 I completely detaste him.😡 I can't understand why it is necessary to include a jealousy track in love story where the hero will be made a completely nincompoop and doubtful person insulting his poor wife day and night like loafers.🤢 from which angle does it elevate a man as a lover? Feeling bad and angry to think his love is in love with someone is okay but accusing her directly in such a bad language without trying to hear her viewpoint?? Friday when he was shouting on her telling how many lovers u have I was feeling like slapping him hard.😡 This Chandra does not look an emperor, does not look like Chanakya's pupil, does not look like Mura's son... He just resembles his wife-beater foster father!🤢
Nandini, both the actress and the character is growing on me slowly. Though this havoc degradation of the show is not letting me to like her much. I feel bad for her.and I also hate the idea of cvs of elevating the heroine by gathering sympathy by butchering the hero.🤢
The cvs are so lazy in coping that they even don't feel to change some certain modern points like divorce. Chandra offering to divorce Nandini and giving her 2nd marriage 🤣 These things are so common in modern balaji shows that I feel to bang the writer's head against wall.😡
The lament is getting to long. But is there anything in the show left? There are some beautiful scenes between the leads too which somehow helped to feel better. I liked Chandra's selftalk in the night with Nandini, also the sweetness in the vrat scene sonetimes, (do the Mauryans have national holiday in teej? the boys have no work other than oiling the daadi😕)but as a whole the development is very much disappointing.
Anyways, no more lamenting. I am giving a break and going to watch only after the return of Nand. Till then will live on ur posts and the analysis by others.😃😳
Thank u for the write-up aunty. This show is too much lucky to get u as the viewer I must say...😛

Hi Shyamla,
Let me compliment u on your achievements,👏 I'm talking about the videos posted, I believe , on your birthday thread. And I confess, I will address u by your first name, rather than aunty. U r pretty hot stuff, 😉not the stereotypical aunty.😆
Coming to the the show CN, I 'm not religiously following it, kya hai ki hum abhi tak jodha ke atyachar se ubhre nahi hai.😕😡
History has been always fascinating for me. but not the absurd kind that comes out of Ekta's dimag.😡 But could not keep out, wanted to see how the two top guns of Indian history are portrayed. so I read few of your impeccable write ups, ⭐️and watched random glimpses of the show. Was I disappointed? definitely... yes. May be I like accuracy in historical fiction. And previous experience with makers was highly disappointing too.
The real chankya, a teacher, politician, true wizard. Was a man on mission. To keep the foreigners out of land of Bharat, and colossal dream of Akhand Bharat. Love him or hate him, can't deny that guy was Insanely Genius.⭐️ He might have done few dirty jobs to get there. But his vision should be cherished by every citizen of the country. He took Chandra under his wings, groomed him , to be the best of the kind. ⭐️
Chandra, the valiant, intelligent, humble ,young warrior. He was passionate about his matribhumi as his teacher. He had the spark to make mission accomplish. Taking on mighty Greeks and maghad was not a cake walk.
And that's how they should be reproduced on the screen.
I have seen few scenes, so my assessment could be wrong. Feel free to correct me.
Chankya comes across as a pimp rather than a politician,🤢 sleep with Dhrdhara, spend night with Nandini. And why r u falling for nandini ( something like that). When he was flogging Chandra. Seems like he is obsessed with his Kesh, for real chankya it was never about vendetta.
And I read in one of your post, about Malayketu. How he successfully fooled chankya, putting mask of a sudhra huva, loving, doting husband.
Chankya had an exceptional Jasoos networking, You bet , the real C would not trust his own shadow, how in the world a puny guy like malayketu , beat him in this game. Pretty unrealistic...C had an aura of brilliance, which is missing here. They need to make the character stronger, persuasive for the actors to enact it better. Because not even the best in business can act the topsy turvy script.
CGM...was a best student any teacher could ask for , but unluckily the guy has few more classes to attend every day. Comedy class with Javeda/ Dhurdhara , psychology (brain washing) class with nagging ' psychotic wife Helena, And P. E class with Nandini dominated by assault, abuse.
What is wrong with showing history without the touch of natkiya rupantar. Akbar was never a one woman man, but mari jodha begum not only turned him to be so, but also to a whipped husband. Where as cgm was a one woman man. Didn't Helena came to his life much later age. ?

Oh well, all is not bad, I have few good things to say.
Tokas is absolutely gorgeous as CGM, the toned body is tantalizing. Unlike as Akbar he was more leaning to the motu category😉. and of course never doubted his powering skills👏. Talking about the hunk, actor who plays padmanand has got abs to show. No facial hair for Tokas is double the treat. He looks much younger and handsome. I don't believe in Jodi, but this is a love story. And one main ingredient to make it a success is a compatibility of the actors. C and N they look adorable together. Better than the previous jodi. Other day I saw a scene of them in the bullock cart. They r amazingly beautiful and convincing. I don't like bring up JA , but Jodha had a protocol for jalal.
Touch me Not,Never
Praise me for ever .🤢🤢
I like my best for the last.
Nandini is NOT jodha...hooray...👍🏼The scene where C apologize to her for some reason( unknown to me). And N says they r hardcore enemies, she would done same thing if situation was swapped. The girl was no were near ego. 🤗Where as jodha always had a ride on her ego. Very high too.
Actress is beautiful, just don't make her abhushan ki dukan. She's got typical, beautiful Indian, badi badi aankhe.
I haven't watched enough to see if she goes on a bhasan spree every other scene.
That was a nightmare in JA. Most annoying.
And hoping she is not the messiah of the Maurya empire. That's exactly was Jodha's glory, as if mougul sultanat khandit hone ki kagaar par tha , and jalal was inhuman, tyrant, going for massacre his awam. And kuwari jodha abodes from heaven, perfect ( kabhi galat nahi ho sakti) and shenshah ko prem sikhaya, jallad se insaan banaya...Now that was freaking crap.

Just read the comment and pls do not answer, u need to ease on it. Take care of your RA.
If and when I go full force watching the show, which I highly doubt. I will read your analysis or occasionally catch some random scene. And will comment accordingly.

I was looking out for you, Ria dear.

Now that you are back - the trip to Rajgir and Nalanda would have been fun; I once accompanied the PM of Nepal, GP Koirala, there in 1992 - and can watch the Thursday and Friday episodes, I am sure you will love them. Last night's one was also unexpectedly pleasant.

Ria, don't miss Peshwa Bajirao on Sony, daily at 7 30 pm, with several repeats. The second episode last night was even better than the first, and Manish Wadhwa is marvellous. Now that is what a proper historical should be, and the cast is very promising. I am sure there will be an omnibus over the weekend, and in any case you kids can catch anything online! It is a must watch.

Well, I shall respond to this, for I wanted to, but I will try and keep it brief, for though my RA has not spiked for the last 2 weeks, I have been overdoing things since the last two days and I am beginning to tire.

I am with you 111% on Jodha Begum, as you would remember from my old Jodha Akbar posts. Your take on her is accurate and hilarious.

I am also 100% with you on Rajat's Chandragupta. He looks like a piece of Greek sculpture almost all the time, and the range he gets here as a performer is much greater than In Jodha Akbar, especially in the comic sphere.

I am with you in toto about Shweta's Nandini. Once she had got rid of her pita maharaj tics, over the last two weeks, she has got back her acting chops. To be fair, Paridhi was more beautiful, but the pairing was much below par.

Here, the pairing, whether in that exquisite little fantasy scene in the bullock cart, which I have described in this post, or during last night's shenanigans, is wonderful, and they set off each other superbly. And she has not given a single bhashan to date!

Incidentally, have you read my main post here at all? If not, please do take a look at it.

About Chanakya - whose Arthashastra is part of the training material for us as junior diplomats - I did not have any great hopes of the great historical figure being recreated here. And of course he has not been recreated, but I would not use the P word you have chosen, nor do I feel that his reasons for what he does most of the time are so condemnable. He does not cane Chandra to punish him, but to test the extent of his emotional involvement with Nandini,. He does not want ANY such involvement for Chandra with any woman, which is not surprising given his single-minded focus on his mission. In those days, queens were there to produce heirs to the throne, not to distract the emperor from his main mission in life, his empire.

Thanks a lot for the kind things you have said about my CV, and the idea of me being hot is side-splitting.😉 But one thing. As it is for me to choose how I prefer to be addressed, and I am sure you are not 45 plus, I would like it if you could call me Aunty, or Akka/Di if you prefer that. I like having this steadily expanding e-family, and I do not want to be deprived of any additions to it!😉 Plus I never liked this American fashion of calling much older folk by their first names. Jurassic, perhaps, but I am 'like that only'!

Finally, unless you mind it, I would like to know your name.

Shyamala Aunty/Akka/Di whatever
