What quality dhurudhara does not have to make her ideal wife and lover?

She doesn't want Chandra. see how good you are but no woman can act like that. this is not mahaanta. this is really weird. why they had to show her character like this??
I am not saying she should plot against Nandini like helena but atleast she can have feelings for her husband.

True. Being badass and negative are not synonymous. Badass simply means tough, brazen. The good girl falls for bad boy etc examples are not of badass boys.

I think there is something about a man/woman who can take care of themselves, have their own mind and stand for themselves. Some one who is tough, can handle stuff, doesn't act like a damsel in distress.

Also, love defies all logic :D

Why a man like chandra will fall for a irritating stupid and badass lady like nandini?

rather than falling for a sweet innocent and selfless girl like Dhurudhara?

The same is true of girls too

Why a girl like Dhurudhara love a irritating uncompromising and heartless chandra?

rather than falling for a man who will love and care her back as much as she does him?

What has dhurudhara not have or done for chandra that nandini will ever do?

Has she not helped him in grave danger risking her life? - like when he was hidding from the greek soldiers

Has she not fed him food when he was hungry for 4 days?

Has her father not given chandra nough money that ensured he won over nand and became samrat?

Has she not taken care of him spending sleepless night when he was injured in battle?

Has she not cared for him enough that she wakes up scared by dreams of his being attacked?

She has not even demanded like helena any position of importance or to get her anything in return

But still her hand burnt and chandra ran to save nandini?

Why do men love badass woman and not normal good ones?

True u r right
I love Durdhara
Why not chandra ?

Prem to tell the truth in reality no husband would tolerate a wife like Nandini leave alone loving her. He will love a girl like Durdhara or Helena. Durdhara is very good and childlike. So she will always be liked and esteemed as a companion by any man! If a man cannot and does not love a girl like he must be a fool! Chandra too loves and cares for Durdhara. At least that is what I felt! He does not realize what he feels for her is love, but to tell you the truth, it is love, and that too two-sided and reciprocal.

What Chandra feels for Helena could be trust, reliance and the partnership of two equals. But it is an extremely positive and constructive kind of emotion that he feels for both the ladies, Durdhara and Helena. Helena is narcissistic but all the same she supports her husband in times of distress and truly cares for him! Any man might overlook her giving importance to her desires, preferences, and priorities first before she looks into other's priorities, desires, or preferences!

After all it is not a crime to love yourself first and foremost; provided you have the space and magnanimity to love somebody else along with your own self, and have some space and concern for their interests as well! So as long as she loves him and his interests too, many men might not have a problem even with a woman like Helena.

But Nandini is a class apart! The poor chap will not even survive to hate her, leave alone love her! This is just a reel, fictional story! Love in real life is very different. But I suppose it hardly makes an interesting story for the CVs of a TV show! They thrive on drama and for that they need a Nandini. A Durdhara or Helena will hardly fit their bill of an ideal TV heroine on whom they can spin reams and reams of imagination!

Ordinary people like you and me cannot find it in us to understand the 'Amar Prem Gatha' of TV CVs with characters like Nandini, the love-hate tirades, the Saas Bahu and Sautan dramas which such ladies make possible in their script! Such hatred as Chandra and Nandini can sink into indifference at the maximum! There are all possibilities that the hatred on both sides will remain the same throughout their lives. But such intense passionate hate turned to love happen only in stories not real life.

So if we take the relationship of Chandra and Nandini on the show per say, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that some people rub us the wrong way or bring out the worst in us. Chandra and Nandini are doing that to each other. It is not just the case of their being polar opposites or enemies due to circumstances, it goes much beyond that. They see each other as a threat to that bit of their self identity that both of them hold very dear and close to their heart. They perceive it as being snatched from them when they are in proximity. They lose track of what and who they are. They lose their bearings. Hence they behave so viciously with each other.

I will narrate a small story which I feel will describe both Chandra and Nandini aptly at the present moment. There were two kites flying in the sky. They were flying high up above the rest of the kites. They could have peacefully coexisted at the top if they had wanted. But each kept tugging and pulling in the opposite directions because of course each kite felt that it was right and the other kite wrong. They fought, they reasoned, they argued, but the pity, they did not let go the quarrel and move on.

They were stuck with the kite whose tendencies and behavior they hated the most. They could not tolerate nor give the other kite the space to fly in its own sky; and in inhibiting the other kite, their own movements were getting restricted. They kept coming closer and closer though this proximity suffocated both the kites. After a time both kites stopped their own flight and stated trying to prevent the other from flying.

Finally both of them got entangled and yet they kept on fighting and resisting the other. The threads which secured the two kites started becoming a tangled and jumbled mass. Still neither of the kites would give up! The threads snapped! Finally both the kites fell to the ground in one corner each gathering dust but still tied to each other due to the tangled and jumbled mass of knots. They spent the rest of their lives and time fighting and cribbing with each other.

Prem you are free to apply this story to Chandra and Nandini as they are on the show now and draw whatever conclusions and morals you like from it!

There is a phrase in French "Suis-moi je te fuis. Fuis-moi je te suis." which means follow me I will flee from you, flee from me and I will follow you. 😆 More someone shows attitude to you and treats you like you mean nothing to her/him, more you will get attracted to that person. More someone will show you love and more you will just take him/her for granted. Human nature.

However, Nandini has every reason to hate Chandra's GUTS (at least right now). Mahapadmanand might have been rotten, but he was her dad, and he was an incredible dad. Also, she has no clue of his past, and even when she does, I am not sure how she'll respond to life after the great revelation. Yes, agreed she's bratty, like a lot of young women from our generation who like to have things their way. Besides, she has been Magadh's only princess and daddy's favourite all along, so a big ego is almost synonymous. But now all of a sudden her world has been turned upside down, because she's faced with this 'gory' situation almost overnight! So her revulsion for Chandragupta is more than justified. I know this is the exact same reaction I would have had if faced with something similar. Like I have this beautiful house and a lovely family (no matter how rotten they are, mujhe kya pata...they love me and I love them)...who are suddenly killed by some outsider (no matter how just he is, but I don't know it)...and now he enters my house and owns it...and I am turned slave! Come on, I'd kill.
Anyhow, ye fiction drama hai, which is (very) loosely based on facts (sure!) 😉, so obviously the leads will have to fall in love. And I know what the general consensus about their pair is, but I beg to differ. I think they look stunning together, and also complement each other's performance and energy level.

Spot on..loved your analysis..I have similar views and don't understand the lot of negativity around nandini in this forum.

Every boy spends pocket money on girls like nandini not dhurudhara types

Not much difference in 4 BC and 21st century in that sense

Here dhurudhara hand burnt and chandra runs off to save nandini, why he cannot just tell maids or gaurds to inform and take care of his childhood friend

There is attraction in unknown and badass behaviour that normal behaviour will not warrant such things

Whyismyquestion?

Because the likes of Dhurdhara and their affections and devotions are taken for granted. Like the liberty we take with our mothers They are like the ground that we stand upon. The normal tendency is to look up to the sky.

Most know the value but don't go about chanting it everyday because it is undersood mostly. But for the rest, only when they come close to losing them, when they come close to losing the ground beneath their feet do they realize its importance.

Nothing surprising either...
The inclination archie had for Veronica over Betty
Ashley had for Scarlett over Melanie...

Do not fret Prem. These badass types are just for spending pocket moneys. Boys are generally smart. When it comes to settling down they invariably opt for the Dhurdhara types.😆

And Chandra ran to save Nandini AFTER applying the medicine for Durdhara.

Very good post! Nandini may be good as a human being with her own set of positives and negatives but she is not the right life partner for Chandra at the present moment just as he is not the right husband for her. There is a lot on both sides that makes it highly unpleasant and difficult for both the married partners.

The other person's very presence in their life is going to be stifling for their existence. They are like poison to each other both literally and figuratively. In real life such marriages may never end in love. So it becomes very difficult to understand how Chandra and Nandini end up falling in love. In comparison his marriages with Durdhara and Helena are somewhat more promising.

I have always felt that Nandini was hypocritical and adopted double standards apart from being pampered, bratty, delusional, and blind to the faults of her family. Not really unforgivable faults realistically speaking! What is actually a bit lacking is nuance and subtlety in the way the actress is portraying this character. She is not endearing herself to the viewers or creating an empathy or striking a chord in their hearts. When I can accept Helena's vengeful and narcissistic nature, I could accept a grey Nandini too.

But I have definite problems with making the female lead stupid in many places and passing that off as signs of a genius or prodigy. But rather this is the script doing disservice to the female lead's character and story over all. Similarly I get irritated when Nandini's strength of character is insidiously and systematically boosted by the CVs and all the previous women in a polygamous marriage situation are either dumbed down or made to look villainous or vampish so that the female lead deliberately looks like a paragon of all virtues in comparison to them.

To this day, I have never understood if Nandini sees the reality and is blind to it, she has not seen the reality and is ignorant of it, she sees and understands what suits her convenience and conscience deliberately ignores the rest, her judgment and principles are highly prejudiced and conditioned by systestematic brainwashing, or she knows the truth and has no problems with it personally. You know all this leaves me confused what this girl really is. An average viewer would plainly be irritated with her as he/she does not understand the character or her motivations.
