Folks,
NB: The quotation is actually from the 16th century Elizabethan playwright Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus. Ilium is another name for Troy, and topless is not used in the modern sense!
😆
The only entertaining bit in all this was Padmanand's suggestion to Amatya Rakshas, who is reluctant to impose a second yuddh kar on the Magadha janata, that in that case, the new tax should be named suraksha kar! I am sure Padmanand has been reborn in this age as a very successful politician!😉
True.😆
I was greatly amused by Chandra's vainglorious boast: Aaj tak aisi koyi stree bani hi nahin jo mera dhyan apni or kheench sake!- given that such stuff amounts to tempting the gods, and invariably comes before a fall
"Dil nahin hai hamare paas" - Doesn't this echo somewhere in the background. Infact it echoed in more pronounced tones in yesterday's "Hriday nahin hai hamare paas" to Dhurdhara.😆
Bitter breakdown: The part I really loved about Chandra in these episodes was his total breakdown after the loss in the second attack on Magadha. It showed that despite all of Chanakya's grooming and the years of training, this is not a military automaton. This is a flesh and blood human being, still almost a boy, with all the vulnerability that goes with inexperienced youth, not yet tested and toughened in the crucible of failure.
It made him more human, more real. You just wanted to reach out to him and put him to sleep on a comfy bed and tell him Robert Bruce's bed time story.😳
Helena: Strong , self-assured, and supportive : The first opinion voiced about Helena in this forum is generally shock at her selfishness and her disloyalty in encouraging Chandra to attack her own father as a means of securing the revenge she seeks against Malayaketu and, at one remove, Nandini. Many here in fact sound exactly like Bharatmata, who pontificates, with deep disapproval , about the difference between one beti, the self-centred, disloyal Helena, and the other beti, the sanskaari Nandini, whose loyalty to her pitamaharaj makes her the human equivalent of Gandhiji's Three Monkeys rolled into one.😉
Yes.🤣 And with a dash of arrogance and too much of self-importance.😡
Chanakya is as single-minded, as ruthless, and as devious as Helena is, of course in a cause which is far nobler than hers. But the thing is that if she had been a man, instead of a woman, the criticism of Helena's actions would have perhaps been somewhat muted!
She is also an excellent tactician and planner. Once she is sure that her father will not go to war against Parvatak and Magadha on her behalf, she wastes no time switching her focus to Chandra. A shrewd strategist, who understands human nature, she knows that she needs to give him something solid to get him to move in the matter. Whence the offer of her father's army. She knows full well that Chandra and Chanakya will, in their own interest, minimize the human losses among the Greek troops when they attack them, and that they will treat her father well. Which is precisely what happens.
The marriage proposal takes her by surprise, but she is intelligent, and realises at once what Chanakya's aim is in making it. She has no objection, for she will, on her side, derive the same benefit from the deal.
Helena was very impressive in these sequences.
Helena-Chandra 1: This, their first post-marriage scene together, is a perfect scream. An unexpected delight, in fact, being so very different from the kind of tripe that is routinely dished out in such situations.
Helena is in control throughout. This begins when she laughs at his opening Tum yahan?,then crooks the fingers of one hand and calls out to him: Yahaan aao! Though reluctant to comply with this invitation, Chandra does move over to the bedside , where he stands, looking down with considerable trepidation at Helena cozily stretched out on the bed, before shifting his gaze sideways.
When she rolls over suddenly, as if to make room for him at her side, and leans back with negligent grace, her head propped up on one arm, Chandra looks absolutely petrified. Rajat is splendid in this very unusual cameo of a bashful and most reluctant bridegroom
And he had that puppy wagging tail look that he donned for a greater part of JA later as he obeyed her call. Or more aptly as you called him - Mary's little lamb.
Oh Lord, I could not stop laughing!🤣
Neither could I.😆
Rare, elusive bond:
It is not just that she consoles him in his lowest moments. That is the less important part. What is vital is that she manages to cut thru the fog of depression enveloping him and to get thru to the real Chandra.
This is a special ability that Helena seems to possess, at times even more than Chanakya does, which is strange, but true. As I wrote in my last post:
More even than the crucial help she offers Chandra... what is striking about Helena in this sequence is her ability to infuse self-confidence and a fresh determination in her Sandrocottos.
👏
Helena is a rarity on TV. A woman of will, who can love with zest and go to any end to attain it, or have her revenge with the same zest if wronged. No embodiment of virtues, but certainly an ally whom you can count on. She has her own notions of right and wrong, and stands by it, come what may, notwithstanding the general rules for 'uttam nari'. She is a delight so far. Both the character and the actress. 👏
The actress whom I thought looked too old and inappropriate for Rajat seems so much a part of him, when they are together on screen. Proof positive that performance, spontaneity and ease matters more than merely looking gorgeous. The actors playing Chanakya and Helena fit into their roles like hand in gloves.👍🏼
Helena and Chandra share a rare comradeship. One of necessity. One of understanding. One of shared lakshya. And both of them are not the parasitic type who will pull out once the aim is achieved and both know it as well. Hence there is trust as well. Both know each other's weaknesses, fears, passion and commitment to their respective causes. They can read each other very well. Comfort each other and pull each other out their lows, more easily than any other. Chandra did, when Malayketu dumped her, and came forward to give her a glimmer of hope for revenge even when her father backed out. Helena too has instilled confidence in Chandra whenever he felt low, after each loss in war.
In short, it has been a beautiful relationship so far. Much like the Jalal-Ruqaiya(Smiley) relationship in the early days of JA. I wouldn't be surprised if Helena too is soon made to screech, throw things around and plot once the embodiment of virtues, golden haloed, never-wrong, mahaan, nayi soch waali naari shakthi heroine makes her entry into Chandra's life.😡
But thankfully Nandini is none of those as of now. No-one calls her perfect or a never-wrong girl. She was outright rude and arrogant yesterday with Mura. Hope she stays that way. I can't suffer another dose of mahaanta.
honestly what does nandani has that chandra dont to make him mahan chanaykiya was his mentor its ektas man gadat bat and nothing else and nadanis character doesnt make sense to make him mahan not one quality she has and he already has two strong women Aunty i like dudharas theory to marry her best friend one should always look after one selfOriginally posted by: Shinning_Stuti

I am so much liking the dynamic duo of Chanakya & Helena...Chandra is so lucky to have this two strategic brain behind him. I would love to see this equation between them exploring more and more till CVs are meherbaan on us... cause every excellent factor that developped till now have high chances to hit the rock bottom in future... well I prefer to enjoy the present tracks without worrying about upcoming...
I loved the shot at the very beginning where Chanakya and Helena found an emotionally devastated broken Chandra and helena wrapping her shawl around him. Then both of them supported him and made him stand up.. at the moment Chanakya and Helena absolutely looked like the strength of pillar for chandra to me, symbolizing that whenever chandra would be broken and devastated, these two pillar of strength will be there to support him, to drag him out of the darkness of self devastation and make him rise again!...And then coming to our pita maharaj ki priya putri. till the time i just felt that she is a stupid spoil princess but yesterday it prooved me that she was not at all less in terms of cruelty like her father!!.. why should she even go to moora all the way just to bash her son and predicting his future... It feels like she has a thought that she could let down even the huge army of chandra with her hateful speech!!.. Miss nandu, just have some reality check!!... Your father's years of torment couldn't extinguish her hope and u are hoping that your threatening would work?!!...Even hatered has a classy way to express... the over speech screaming doesn't add to the flavor rather than making the whole scene into unnecessarily comic.all i was rooting for a grey shaded female lead but actually she emerged out as stupid, cruel and blind...yesterday i really felt that Nandini was not at all required in the story... CGM already got two worthy queens in form of helena and dhurdhara... and to me even Dhurdhara seemed much more matured than her... she knew the difference between reality and fantasy... through the whole life she nurtured a dream of her perfect groom but when reality struck her she understood what was good for her and like an wise woman she choose chandra who can provide her security and respect her always. Give importance to her... i don't think any woman need much more than that from her life partner rather than the so called amar prem!!...(Now i badly want to abandon the nightmare of dhurhdra befriending Nandini cause it will be like betraying her priya mitra chandra!!😕).. I feel that as Chanakya and helena would be chandra's strategic minds Dhurdhara would be his soul's comfort during the time of havoc. All of these person would play their parts in his life .. I don't know what purpose nandini would have in Chandra's life?!...I'm confused man😕...any way coming to the acting department.. another phenpmenal pergormance by RT in the scane when he was revealing his true identity to chanakya and helena... I had tp give special mention for the scene cause i feel that his voice sounds perfect in the scene... earlier in the war scene i noticed that there was some discussion about his speech problem... well honestly even i feel that his voice was sounding not so powerful during the time, specially when he had to scream but his acting made me overlook the tiny fact and i knew really well he would overcome it eventually(and also I think it was due to some technical fault rather than him)... i have grown up watching this fellow and i knew what actually he is capable of.. yesterday he proved me absolutely right... his voice sounded absolutely perfect even in high speech...Chanakya and helena didn't share much screen space yesterday but they were as usual eye soothing in their scenes..Sanvi as Dhurdhara doing a decent job... yesterday i found her acting good...Shweta... girl you had to work really really hard cause you are surrounded with so many excellent performers.!!...thts my two sents abt yesterday eps...PS: Can God listen to my wish so that Nandini would die along with her father in battle rather than left behind for seeking revenge...... So that Chandu-Nandu's not so awaited amar prem katha can never happen... I am so happy with CGM's both current wives.. dont want them to be sidetracked and turned into mere vamp or chamchis for this cruel and stupid nandini... nd most horrible Chandra loosing his brain and being the doormat of his 3rd wife...🥱

Interesting discussions going on. I still can't understand why the hell the makers chose Nandini against Chandra as female protagonist when there are already two wonderful women, especially Helena in his life perfectly complementing him. Does Nandini actually stand in front of the personality of Helena? It's pity to see her face in the banner of Nayi Soch campaign by Star Plus. When it is going to end? 😡
The same story could easily run with the name of Chandra-Helena, with idiot Nandini as a mere side character. 😆 But since the CVs are possessed by the idea of Hate-To-Love journey, they are bound to include a female character forcefully in this whole story, who will have all the so-called great mahaan qualities of TV soap heroines and will hate the male protagonist wholeheartedly at first and after some months will start dancing on his head!😡 So the exquisite characterization of Helena is bound to degrade herself in order to elevate the mahaan naari Nandini, who is going to teach Chandra the meaning of love and relationship!!😡 🤢I am quite confused actually after watching Nandini yesterday! When she was introduced as a bubbly nonchalant girl, I imagined that OK, she is just a very common daddy's daughter, and like many ordinary daughters, she is not concerned about her father's deeds and is completely dependent on father; she has clear views about right and wrong, and she has placed her father in the place of man-per-excellence based upon that view without trying to know him.I had hardly thought that Nandini knows about Moora, and had an impression that the childhood confrontation with her, where Moora told her that she is captured by a demon, will leave a mark in her heart, and she will be able to feel Moora's pain with heartiest compassion of her natural humanity which will clash with her blind belief on her father...But Monday's and yesterday's episode told a different story. She knows about Moora, but does not know how her father has wronged with her and neither she wants to know the fact. It never raise a question in her mind that why a woman is captive and is tortured in her father's prison, and why she always rants on her son's arrival! A man enters in her room with blind rage and threatened her to kill her family to avenge her mother's humiliation, he insisted on how her father has tortured and tried to molest her from a long long time, and she keeps on listening with dumb head and did not even a question come in her mind that why this man is saying all these!Yesterday's episode was height where she loses the least humanity in her; meets Moora in prison and threatened her in such a cheap manner, clearing that not only she is blind in her father's love, but also she inherits all the qualities of her father!🤢 She is not only foolish, she is extremely cruel, arrogant and insensitive. Till yesterday I had an idea that she does not know anything about the autocratic reign of her father, but after yesterday it looked like she knows and she has every right to involve in royal acts, but she does not care as she believes that her father is always right. She has been brought up that way, and she is just as bad as Nand! As someone has raised her voice against her father, she thinks that she has every right to smash that head under her feet without even judging if he is right or wrong, just like her father does with all his citizens, and the way he killed the man in the 3rd episode who had protested to pay illegal taxes. The actress did no justice with the scene... rather she reduced the arrogant spoilt princess of the cruel ruler into a jhagrili irritating village girl by her acting and killed the least impact of the scene!!I remember I found it pathetic when it was told in the first episodes of the show that the consequences of Nand's deeds will tell upon his daughter. I did not like the idea that Chandragupta will torture an innocent girl only due to his grudge on his father. But now it is looking justified, as Nandini is not an innocent daughter of her father, rather she is a reflection of her father, and it is not unbelievable if Moora and Chandra reminds Nand every time they encounters Nandini! No idea how Chandra will fall for Nandini. Vice- versa can be possible, followed by a transformation of Nandini from Nand's arrogant daughter to the life-partner of Chandragupta Maurya... Nandini's characterization has to be broken from it's core, and then the crude to be rebuilt and reconstructed in Chandra's hand. She is a shapeless clay-pot now who needs to be broken first into the crude soil with the truth of her father, then to be purified in the fire of repentance, then to be constructed to a beautiful idol made of clay reconstructed by Chandra...But as it's a Hindi daily soap where only men can be changed, not the women as they can't be wrong, and already Star-plus and Bharatmata has certified Nandini as an ideal daughter and ideal wife, and it is already told that Nandini will convert Chandragupta to Mahaan Chandragupta with her love, what can we expect! After some months Chandra may repent to kill Nandini's fathers and to make her orphan and may fall on her feet!😆
