The rain was pouring down. It seems like it wouldn't stop. Ashok was attacking the soldiers with his sword. all you can hear was the clang of swords and cries. Some tried running away, but no, ashok wouldn't let them. He was angry, pissed and out for vengance. He had lost his inner battle long ago, letting the darkness in his heart ressurface.

Once their was no body in sight. Ashok walk away from the bloody area. He wasnt wounded, but he felt like it. He walk slowly, looking straight ahead. Heading back, back to where though. Ashok heard a noise, he turn to see Chanda. She gave him a questionable look, and he stare before opening his mouth " you should go back"

Chanda walk near him " where's Kaurvaki? "

Ashok staid quiet, the words wouldn't come out of his mouth. He refuse to say the word, that would cause him to come back to reality. His Kaurvaki, and his mom...dead. he wonder how many more people he love will die because of him. He watch as chanda move back holding her mouth. She fell on the floor, crying. Ashok turn away, he didn't want to see this. He Didn't want to cry as well, no...he refuse to cry.

He turn and walk away, ignoring the cries. He continue to walk on the roads, ignoring some people stare. " Ashok? " the voice says, ashok turn to see his mom. His eyes widen " ma!?"

Dharma smile at him " ashok, what's wrong?"

Ashok couldn't say anything at first, he could only watch. His eyes starting to sting. " your not real" he mumbles, Dharma laughs " what's this ashok, of course I'm real. I haven't left you, I'm still here" she says pointing to his heart.

Ashok stare at her with teary eyes, he turn to his left when he felt a hand on his shoulder " and I am here too" , Kaurvaki says smiling. When he saw her the tears finally drop. Both women look at one another before joking about ashok being a big baby. Then they tease each other before laughing. Ashok seeing this finally broke down crying. He thought he had no more tears left, but he was wrong.

He knew this was a figment of his imagination, this moment wouldn't happen, but still he had hoped. He wipe the tears and continue walking. When he was almost to his house, he saw acharya. His guru, walk to him and told him the time has come for him to take the throne. Ashok told him, the throne has not only cause him to loose the people he love. It has also cause rivalry between my brother's, and now this throne will cause me to loose my Dharma.

Acharya told ashok he doesn't have too, but ashok denies it. " if I am to sit on that throne, that would mean I would have to leave my humanity behind in order to show no weakness."

" it doesn't have to be like this "

Ashok chuckle " I thought so as well, but see what happens when your weak. You get manipulated and eventual killed"

Acharya watching ashok, knew he would be a fine king. But something wasn't right, he look unstable. Ashok turn to the sky that now stop raining. " my brothers plotted against me, to kill me. But I should thank them, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have decided what kind of king magda needs"

Ashok looks at Acharya " my mother once told me the best king is the one that's calm and patient. And doesn't let his enemy see his emotion or see him sweat. I will make sure this time I have the upper hand. When people see me, they will fear only me. They will see sushim and my other brothers as weak. I will be known in history as a ruthless king who killed his brothers."

" what ever is your decision, I shall help you, but let it be known. If you stray on the wrong path then I shall leave."

Ashok smile " good, then I will need a favor from you" he says

Few hours later, sushim and the prince's. Were having dinner in their secret hideout. They we're enjoying and laughing at ashok Missouri. " our plan worked, ashok is as weak as a baby"

" his probably crying right now"

" who would have thought, kalinga princess was that pretty. I would have taken her as my own, if that was the case" the third says

" your forgetting kalinga is our rival"

" I didn't forget"

A servant walk in with their food. He set the food down and walk away.sushim told them not to get comfort, because they don't know what ashok will do. Siamak told them enough talking for one night, and open the food that was covered. when he did he drop the lid. " what is this?"

The brothers stood up. The third was angry " who dares to put my brothers head on a plate." He questioned

Sushim watch silently. " do you have an idea what this could meaning"

The six rub his chin, " it would seem, that our brother has declare war against us"

A men is seen running. He look back to make sure he wasn't being followed, but he was wrong. The people seeing the other men coming, quickly ran, some close their business and enter their house. The men running, push things out the way while speeding. The other men in the middle of the market, jump down from his horse, and start walking like a preditior. He could see his target heading to the forest area.

So he starts to run. While running, he left heavy marks on the floor. Showing he was here, and leaving his mark. The men became scared, he turn to see the other men gaining on him. He beg for the men to forgive, but the other men had no intention on forgiving. He grab the rope tide around his belt and spins it then he throws it. Hitting his target. The men starts to choke, but the other men didn't care. He slowly starts to pull the men, making him choke even more.

He drags the men back to the village, and calls for everyone to come out. When they did, he squeeze the rope around his neck, tightening it. " apparently, you all don't understand that a thief will always be a thief in my book. Theirs no mercy or forgiveness. I will have to show you all again what happens to people who double cross me."

Earlier,

Sushim and the prince's. Were talking about ways to destroy their fathers power house. Maybe start with the alliance bindu has with foreiners. " father is already a weak king, but if we can remove every powerful house under him then the council will see him as weak and remove him from the seat."

Fifth says " that's good an all, but your forgetting. Removing them will start a war. And we don't want that."

" your right." Sushim says before turning to fourth prince. " how is the revolt coming "

" it's getting good, the people have started protesting against ashok rules. "

" that's good , ashok wants to build a bridge that crosses the water, he thinks it would be quicker then sailing on a boat"

Siamak smile " the more people revolt the more, they wont help him. his plan will fail and bindu will question him."

Meanwhile,

Ashok was observing some of the workers working. The bridge is almost complete, he just needs three more days. Then his people can walk on it. He stop , when he saw two men fighting. It soon turn to a big war. Ashok march over their and asked them what they were fighting about.

" we are tierd , we havent had a break all day. How long must we do this" one says

Ashok knit his brow " did i not say this would be hard. Did i not pay you all for working under me.", when he said this they all became quiet. " i dont like people who complain. If this continues, you all will be punish" he says making them afraid.

They all went back to work. One guard told ashok that some people are still protesting and to look into it. Ashok says he knows. He told him to gather his soldiers " anyone that's against my decision and the kings order, will be removed"

And so they head to the riot. One men told the people that the bridge is a bad idea. He says this is an access route for all the enemies to enter magda. Ashok jump down from his horse. " you want to die?" He says

The men turn to see Chanda, he became scared. But he compose himself so his friends wouldn't see him shake " no, but we will if this bridge finished"

Ashok smirk " so your opposing my order"

They all nod, ashok says since they want to be brave, then they shall all be brave together, he turn to his men " lock them all up. Make sure they don't come out until I say so"

The people start mumbling before some start to run. The men in charge ran as well. Ashok men managed to grab all of them except one. The people started begging ashok to leave them, but they we're chained. And ashok lock them up. He took them to the people working on the bridge " I hope you all won't make the same mistakes as them" he points.

It was night time , ashok was home. He was playing with mahendra. Devi came out asking him how was his day. Ashok told her people are starting to question his ideas. He says they don't know, how much the bridge will benefit them.

" I'm sure if you give them a break, they will stop judging you."

Ashok gives mahendra back to Devi. When he saw his mom. " you should stop spoiling him. He needs to learn to be on his own"

" his a baby ashok"

" no his two, he should be practicing to walk."

Devi shook her head " you can't expect him to learn like that."

" no, but if you keep babying him, he will never learn"

Devi frown, she told ashok she was going to bed and went upstairs. Ashok starts to think, he says " everyday things keep getting worse. Ive been going easy on them, but I guess I will have to show my worse side" , it wasn't long before he heard a knock. He opens to see his soldiers " we have a problem sir" he says

Few hours later, ashok was back at the construction sight " so they all escape?"

" yes sir"

" how did they get out?"

The men became nervous " t-they took the key while one of the soldiers we're asleep"

The soldiers came up and bow " I'm sorry sir"

" no it's fine, this is good. They not only stole from me, but went against my order. Find them all, especially the one who freed them. I will deal with him personally."

" yes sir" they said

Ashok and his men, search til morning. It wasn't long before half of the protesters we're found. Ashok got word of the leader warebouts, and quickly head there.

He search for a pole, and tied the men on it. The men curs and scream telling ashok to let him go. When his soldiers arrive , he told them to separate his legs and tie the rope to the machine. The people start to mumble, the men saw his wife and kids. And told them not to look. His wife, had a shock look. It was like they could read each others mind. She covered her daughters eyes, telling her she can't see this. " but it's daddy "

" no it's not lets go back in" she says

Ashok seeing the men looking, stops the women. He told her no one is leaving anywhere until he gets his message across. The women was now tense, the men told ashok that's not right, he said he doesn't want to see his family watch him die. " that's more reason to do it" " start " he says

The soldiers start to spin the wheel. The men scream. His legs and arm started stretching , it stretched until it came off. The people turn away when the blood hit their face. They we're scared. The lady fell on the floor screaming and crying while ashok laughs. " let it be known, that anyone who double crosses me will be punished"

Soon words got out about ashok punishment. People we're becoming even more afraid.

Ashok is seen finishing the bridge after the workers left. The next day ashok line them all up on the bridge, he told them to run because each of them will die today. They we're all shock

" Bindu is getting worse everyday. This is our time to get the council on our side."

A women is scene dancing, everyone is infatuated by her. One Men calls her over, but a guard stops him. He shrug his hand and told him to leave him. A women walk in asking why the men was disturbing the environment. The men drunkly told her, he just wanted the lady to pour him more drink.

" that's not part of her job, please understand that.".

The women turn to the guards before telling him to kick the men out. He look at the young women with short hair, that looks like a Bob. She smile, " she is our most prize possession. We don't know where she come from, or who she is, but the gods blessed us with her."

" indeed they have" the voice said

The women turn to see her king. She quickly bow before asking what he was doing here. " I simply came to see how my friend is doing, but now I see how flurashibg. She's doing. "

The women smile " it's all because of you my king"

The men laugh " I wouldn't take all the credit. Charuvaki seems to be popular, even though she's mute"

" your right, she has improve greatly in her dancing skill. She's more talented then you think."

The king smirk, " she is a mystery, but we will keep it that way. Its best for her not to remember her past."

" your right"

When the dance was over, Charuvaki went on her break. The next dancer showed up. She sat down in her room and wipe the sweat. While staring she wonder where the scar on her shoulder came from. She removes her clothes and look at the scar. She touch it, and suddenly got a headache.

She held on to something, before calming her racing heart. When it was over, she put her new clothes on and step out.

Meanwhile

The protesters watch as ashok continue building the bridge. After what happend last time, they were afraid. They knew ashok will punish them, but they didnt know when. Three days ashok continued working, he didnt stop to take a break, he made them watch him even when it rained.

at last the time has come. Ashok stood proud watching his work. He was tierd ... yes, but he still had unfinished business. Ashok turn to the people who were cadged " do you see this, i..ashok...in three days accomplished something ten men could have done. Now see how i test my new work."

He nod to the guards and they release the mens. The guard grab their rope and near them to the bridge. He freed them, and told them to go. They hesitated at first, before they all started walking. While walking they suddenly felt the bridge shake, some turn to ashok, who laughs . " i will suggest you run, before i cute the ropes"

The mens were shock. Some quickly push each other and start to run. Ashok continues to watch " release the ropes" , the guards quickly nod and release.the rope. The people on the bridge scream, before they all fall.

Ashok turn around , smirking. He stop when he saw Acharya, he wasn't pleased. " your father wants to see you"

" OK"

Few hours later ashok is in the courtroom greeting bindu. Bindu looking over things asked him how the bridge was coming along. " I manage to finish it. Now we can use this to not only help people travel, but also for our enemies."

Bindu look at ashok " good work, I will check it out soon." He says, but stop to couph.

Ashok told him to rest, but Bindu refuses saying he has to make sure everything is right before leaving. He throw a scroll at ashok and told him the people in uujain. Have been sending him letters about the third prince. He old ashok to read it and check it out.

Elsewhere

Sushim and his mother we're in Chandra house. Chandra came to Sushim to wash his back. She told the maids to leave and approach him. Sushim seeing her asks what she wanted. She told him it's her wife duty to take care of him. Sushim, thought of ahankara, but stop when he remember what she did.

He told chandra to come closer, before pulling her to him. He told her he was ready to consume their marriage, before kissing her.

Meanwhile,

It was night time charuvaki couldn't sleep. She was having nightmare , but the people face in the dream was blurry. She got up sweating. Shaking all over. She couldn't breath, and needed air. She quickly put her stuff on and step out in the cool night. She shiverd, but she enjoyed it anyway. She walk around, until she spotted a beautiful tree, and sat under it, and look at the sky. Just then she heard noises and a women screaming.

She got up and walk behind the tree to see the kings men misbehaving with a young girl. They remove her dupatt when she tried running. charuvaki was angry. She marched over there, and push the men. Then she grab the girl and told her to run.

The guards we're angry now " do you know what you just did?"

yes I saved a young girl from being molested, she says in her head

"Can you not hear, or are you just mute?" the other says

When she didnt speak.They undress charuvaki, before telling her she will take the girl's place. the lick their lips and move closer. charuvaki move back. They tried reaching for her, but she Dodge. They we're impress. " you move pretty quick, but you won't for long."

Both men grab her and tried taking her clothes of. charuvaki struggled. She saw the sword on his side and grab it. Before slashing one of the men. The other friend surprise, took his sword out to attack , but charuvaki was quick, and stab the men. Surprise at her action. She drops the sword. What have i done, she thought. How am i even doing this?.

She look at the men holding his stomach before taking his last breath. The other men, glares at her, and told her she will regret it, before running. Charuvaki, staggered back, shaking her head. She quickly turn back and ran. When she reached the haram, she ran in. She bumped into her boss, and she asks her what's wrong. Her boss watch as she tried signing. Her eyes widen.

" no one can know about this, you hear me. Now go back to sleep." She says

Ashok sees the third prince pushing devi of the stair case. And told everyone she tried to cheat him, and attack him . People surround devi who was bleeding on her head.

" bindu is getting worse everyday.this is our time to get the council to agree to remove him from the throne"

The next day all the dancers got ready , but they stop when soldiers entered. The king waLks in calling for all of them. They were all scared, because they hate being the one the king takes his anger out on. The king look at each of them and ask for the head and charuvaki. The womens look around before whispering. Suddenly the two appeared " you ask for us , my king" the women says

The king cleared his throat " my soldier here told me that one of your dancers, killed one of my men's. You know that's treason"

The women tried not to look him direct in the eyes " are you sure it's one of my dancers. It could have been another women"

The king thought about it. He turn to the soldier asking if he was sure, the soldier nod " it was a women from here, I'm positive "

Charuvaki nervously unclentched her hand. The head says " by any chance we're you drunk when that happened? "

The men hesitate " we drank a few"

" if you we're intoxicated I'm sure you didn't see her face well. It couldn't possibly be my dancer."

The king had to agree, he glared at the nervouse soldier. " we are done here." He says before apologizing for disturbing them and holding back their business. The head told him it was no trouble.

" anything else I can assist you with"

The king shook his head, but advert his eyes to Charuvaki for a quick second before turning to leave. Once he was gone, everyone sigh with relief. The head told them to get back to work. She drags charuvaki to the room to get ready. And start applying some form of makeup on her face. Charuvaki frown, she had protested about the makeup thing, but they refused her request.

She sign through the mirror saying " why did you help me?"

The head look at her " everyone in here is like family. We don't like to do what we do, but we have to cause we gave up our happyness long ago."

She look at Charuvaki face, that holds question. " all of us have a story here, just like you. "

She sign " me?"

" yes, now come, we have work to do" she says leaving

Charuvaki looking at herself, wonder what kind of story she has to tell.

Elsewhere

Ashok and Devi we're on their way to the temple. Mahendra was jumpy the whole way. People we're moving away seeing ashok. Which made her unease. When they reached, she told ashok she will head up, and asks if he would join. " I will observe from here"

Devi nod, and walk up the stairs. When she reached, she was about to walk in when the third stops her. Well more like the monks, " why are you stopping me from entering? "

" the priest, says if anyone wants their wish to come true. They have to contribute first."

" contribute? "

The monks point to the junket. Devi frown " why should we pay for praying to the gods. This is wrong"

" wrong you say?", the third prince step out

" yes it is" Devi says.

" the only God these people should be praying to is me. I bring them good fortune. These people luck ran out long ago, until I stepped in. Now they practically worship me"

" so why shouldn't I charge them"

Devi was appalled, she told them to move aside, but they wouldn't budge. The third looks at mahendra, and frown. He finally realize why he didn't like the baby. He could see the baby luck which was very high. He suddenly realize the baby was his brothers. He told her to leave, she's not welcome. Devi refused to move. The third grab her and pull her to the steps. She nudged her hand, and slip...falling while holding Mahendra " ashok" she scream

Ashok turn to see Devi fall, and people surrounding her. The people look at the prince, the prince seeing this says " that women, tried to cheat and harm me. Will you let her get away with it?"

" no!!" They scream. Now turning back to Devi who was holding her baby while bleeding from her head. They started attacking her verbally, and telling her to leave.

They all stop when they saw ashok . They move back while ashok stand before them " you dare to accuse my wife"

They all staid quiet. He look down at Devi before bending to pick her up. He turn and watch the third prince who was smiling, before turning to leave.

Few hours later ashok was talking to acharya " the king wants you to handle the situation, what will you do?"

Ashok while watching Devi sleep says " the third prince is making people pay him in order to pray in the temple. not only that he has harm my wife. So I will play by his rule."

Acharya raise a brow " what are you planning? "

" he believes his above all gods. So I will show the people that his nothing."

Ashok got up and left the room before walking back to the temple. When he reached, he call forth the third prince. Everyone stop and look at him. The third prince comes out " what is it brother? Did you come for revenge" he asks

" no I came to test your luck, you claim you are gifted and a God. So you wouldn't mind a small challenge "

The third cross his arm " what is this challenge "

Ashok smirk. " in these five vase theirs a snake. His one of the deadliest amongst all snakes. You and I will pick a vase one at a time, and stick our hand in. If theirs no snake then your safe, but if the snake is in their you will die bye that snake. "

The people gasp , the third prince on the other hand was confident. He believe he will win. And ashok will die today. " OK I accept your challenge "

Ashok turn to the people and told them to stay in their house. Once the snake comes out, he will one after them. The people quickly ran home, but some near hide while watching.

Ashok before starting asks his mother and Kaurvaki to protect him. The prince step up saying he will go first. He look at each vase, nothing different about them. They all look the same. He went around observing , the vase were lined up in a square position. He ignored that before choosing the vase in the middle. He opens and stick his hand in. He smirk and removes his hand. " nothing ", the monks cheered for him

Next it was ashok, he easily picked the one on the right end. He stuck his hand, and waited, when nothing happend he move back. The third told him he won't be so luck next time. He walk to the one on the upper left, ashok told him the snake was in their, he says he saw the men move this specific vase. The prince thought ashok was trying to trick him, so he would choose a different one. That was even more reason for him to choose the one he did. He cockily opens it before putting his hand, he told them this game will be over very soon.

He froze when he felt something and yell when the snake bit him. He quickly move back and the snake got up in his full glory. The monks and the people near by we're shock. It hiss, and move around, getting out of the vase. The third look at ashok, who was smirking " your luck ends now"

" you tricked me"

" no, I told you the snake was in their, you didn't listen"

The third curse ashok. The snake wrapped it's body around the third. Squeezing him. " if I can't kill you, then my brothers will." He says before the snake devour him. Leaving his shoe behind. The snake turn to ashok, and move closer. Ashok was ready, but it stop when ashok raise his hand. Ashok look at what the snake was looking at and smile " even though your not with me, your charm still helps me Kaurvaki."

The snake hiss, and turn when he heard the nagin tune. He started slithering away, out of sight. Ashok told the people now they can pray without paying. The people said nothing, even when ashok walk away.

Months past, and ashok and his troops we're giving a task by bindu. To capture the men that calls himself the king of kalinga. Turns out he has captured the whole palace, when the young prince was away. Jagannath was dying slowly.

" time once again repeat itself " he says laughing " how ironic "

Ashok and his men walk in the haram, causing the snow to fall inside. " find him" he command

Charuvaki was told to wait for the king in one of the rooms, when the door opens, she closed it from behind" welcome my king" she says closing the door, and touching ashok shoulder intimately. Ashok whole body was on fire.

" so you've stopped the problem?"

Ashok nod, " unfortunately our brother was attacked by a snake, and now is dead."

" I see, I will have to contact third prince mother. This is unfortunate." He says

Hindu, sadly got up, but stop when his heart starts to hurt. Ashok walk to him, but he stopped him. " don't, I will be fine."

He told ashok to go home. He has nothing else for him right now. Ashok nod, before leaving. When he reached home, he sees Devi playing and teaching mahendra about his surroundings. He smile, " I won't let anything happen to you both. Your the only family left, I need to protect from this feud"

When Devi saw ashok she excitedly told him to come. When he did, Devi told ashok mahendra said their name. She told mahendra to say it again, and he concentrate hard before saying it." Ashok smile

" my son" he says

And so month past and ashok got some respect from other countries. Right now he was on his way to kalinga, seems like a men calling himself king has stolen money from magda safe. And is now taking over kalinga, calling himself king. Ashok was angry because some one was able to pass his tight security. He wonder how they knew and enter the palace, unless someone from the inside did it.

If ashok had to guess it was either sushim or siamak. Now concentrating on the path ahead, he was surprise to see snow falling heavily. He hope nothing happens on his journey.

Elsewhere,

Charuvaki, was talking to some of the dancers. Yes, after some month she was able to get her voice back. They told her that the king is executing the head, but before that he will sleep with her. Charuvaki was surprise, " why is she being executed?"

"Because of you"

" me?"

" yes, he wanted to marry you, but the head refuse. And you know what happens when someone refuses." Charuvaki nod

" we can't let this happen? We...I mean...I have to do something

" what will you do? He is the king. His stronger then us, unless you kill him he will only continue to do the same thing. "

Charuvaki thought about it, she remembered the day she was found, and the head took care of her.

Charuvaki made up her mind. She told them she will save the head, no matter what. When she left the two girls smile, " didn't the head told us not to say anything to Charuvaki"

" who cares, as long as she's gone, it doesn't matter."

Meanwhile,

Ashok and his men entered kalinga. They head to the palace, but no one was around. Ashok told them to search the area, he describe the king, and they split. He search everywhere, hiding from guards. He went down he dungeon to see some one chained. Jagannath he says. The head turn once more, and was surprise " you, what are you doing here?"

Ashok laugh " history repeats itself, how ironic"

Jagannath wasn't laughing, he has lost all energy. Ashok asks him what happend to his castle, and why an unknown men is king. Jagannath told him when he was sick, and was still moaning over his wife, they ambush him. He couldn't get his son because he was away. I believe someone sent him away. The men took control and lock me up.

Ashok listening, was surprise to find out kaurwaki mom was dead. Jagannath asks why he was here and if his daughter sent him. Ashok knit his brow " your daughter died five month ago while fighting sushim men's "

Jagannath, head hang low. He was crying terribly. He said he wanted to apologize to her, and tell her all was forgiven. And that he was sorry for being an aweful. Father. Ashok felt his pain, but got over it. " what's done is done. Because of us, she ended up dying. All we can do is think of the happy times."

Jagannath told ashok in this time period, theirs no happyness. Theirs only sorrow. Ashok search for the keys until he found it, Jagannath told ashok to go. He says the soldiers are coming. Ashok asks about him, he says he will survive. Ashok nod and left the key in his cell. " if your ready, just use it"

When he stepped out of the dungeon, he met up with his soldiers. " sir I found out the king goes to the haram. After his meetings "

" a haram? "

The soldiers nod, " then let's go. We shall observe his moves before catching him."

" yes sir" they said

Ashok and his men have been watching the the fake king for a while. They we're planning when to ambush him. It wasn't long he heard two women saying the king will sleep with a women name charuvaki. He smile, he told his men the time has come for them. He told them to move out. On the other hand, Charuvaki was preparing herself. She got everything she needed before closing the blinds and turning of the light.

She thank the other girls for showing her which room the king will be in. She waited patiently.

Meanwhile, ashok and his man walk to the building. Their face we're hidden. Only their eyes could be seen. When they entered the snow covered the ground. Everyone froze. Ashok told his men, to search around. Some guys drunk told ashok to leave, he was unwanted here. He even went as far as to spit on ashok shoes. Ashok grab his sword and cut of the men arm.

The men scream, ashok told them to kill anyone who stops them. The dancers hearing this scream and ran. Soon the place was in chaos. Ashok ignored all the noise, and searched for the room. He stop at the room that smelt like flowers. He open it and walk in. As soon as he did, the door shut. " welcome my king" she says with confidence.

She walk to ashok and touch his shoulder. Ashok half turn to see familiar eyes. His heart started picking up. He remind himself, that she's dead. Charuvaki touch his hand and whispered something. Causing ashok body to burn up.

" who are you?" He question

Charuvaki sush him, and pulls him to the bed. Ashok didn't know why his body was betraying him. He let her push him, making him sit down. Then she starts to shake her hips. Ashok felt mesmerized. Their we're candles in the room. So he was able to see her choice of clothes.

He watch as she walk towards him and stood between his knee. She pushed him, making him fall on the bed. It Was still dark even with the candles. She got on top of him, both legs on each side of his waist. Then she put a hand behind her back, revealing a dagger. Charuvaki hate what she was about to do, but she had to do it. To save the head. I'm sorry ramji, I have to do this, she thought.

Ashok seeing the dagger quickly twist her hand and flip them over. Surprising her. She yelp before dropping the dagger. " I surrender... I surrender " she says

Ashok watching her, wasn't thinking about the intimate position they we're in. Neither was Charuvaki. Ashok finally seeing her gasp " Kaurvaki?"

The women who was chanting under her breath praying for someone to save her, open her eyes. She could finally see the men. She felt connected some how. But she suddenly remember her situation. " please don't kill me, I was just trying to pinch you a little with the blade, nothing else."

Ashok ignored her rambling, and continue watching her " how is it your alive?" He says

This shut her up. " what?"

" do you know how empty my heart was."

Charuvaki could see the love in ashok eyes.His honey eyes full of emotions we're so overwhelming that she could melt just by staring at it. She suddenly snap out of it when she realize, what she thinking. " I don't know who thi-" before she could speak he kissed her.

Elsewhere,

The council we're hosting a meeting without bindu. One member says " I'm speaking on behalf of the people. We must appoint a new king.".

Another member says " theirs no need when bindu Will be back soon"

Another denies that, he says bindu has a rare condition. No one knows how to cure it. We must appoint a new one before it's to late."

Acharya says " bindu has been a good king to his people. He went through so much, he will over come this illness."

The men who happen to be a relative of the third prince says " you say that now, but what if he doesn't. No one will take the thrown "

" who would be willing to take the thrown?"

" we have many prince who would die for the thrown"

" yes, but only one can truly rule patna. Someone like the late king."

" let's take a vote, to remove bindu of the throne."

Some of bindu supporters we're tense. Suddenly the door open, and a weak bindu walks in. " no one will do anything " he says

Everyone became quiet. Bindu slowly walk to the thrown, once he made it. He sat down. He look at both side of the court " no one will remove me because I have made my decision on who will be on the throne."

Everyone was curious now. Bindu held his breath before saying he thought about this a lot. He says this person will be someone people will learn to trust. He will change along with his people. And will grow from his mistakes." He did wrong many times, but I believe he will change from this. Besides i can not ignore our old tradition."

" enough with the speech and tell us already" one member says

Bindu holding his chest, could feel it kicking in. He was running out of breath, he knew it won't be long. He has no more time " the person that will be Patna future will be my first son Sushim"

Everyone was shock, while a few smile. Acharya was disappointed. He didn't know what bindu was thinking, but stop when bindu fainted. Everyone quickly call his name, before running to him.

Sushim watching bindu on his death bed, starts to cry. Bindu told him to change his ways for the better.

Ashok is seen talking to jagannath, he told him he will bring his daughter to him, when he left.few hours later Jagannath vision starts to get foggy , he heard someone speaking, and says ashok. Before dying

"Bindu has appointed Sushim as king, we have to stop this."

" I agree with you, we must inform ashok, before Sushim finds out"

Chapter 42

Bindu open his eyes. He look at acharya who was standing by the door, thinking. " I know you must be surprise by my decision ", he says.

Acharya walk to bindu " a little, I can't understand why you would let sushim rule over us then ashok."

Bindu look up " just like sushim, ashok has a lot to learn. Your forgetting ashok isn't royalty. The people would reject the idea of him being king because of that. A few years back I would have suggested Ashok...but people have started to be afraid of him. I don't want a heartless ruler to rule over the people."

Acharya object to this " I'm sure once ashok gets on the thrown he will change. Remember radhagupta vision. Of ashok becoming king, he wouldn't have supported ashok if he wasn't a kind king."

Bindu couphs, " that was the past, the future can be altered or change, that's why you shouldn't anticipate for the future, but instead focus on the present."

Elsewhere,

Charuvaki was surprise, she tried moving away but ashok held her from moving. Angry, she bit his bottom lips causing ashok to gasp, and slap him. The slap was so loud, you could hear it around the room. Ashok stare at her " you slap me?"

" I'm sorry, but I needed you to let go. You we're molesting me"

" molest?"

Charuvaki push him and got up. Embarrassed. Ashok starts to laugh " you started this, trying to seduce me, but then when you failed you tried playing innocent."

She hide behind one of the curtains. " I thought you we're the king"

" king? So you we're planning to do this with the king", when she nod ashok became furious. He was mad that his beloved wife, who he just found was alive, was going to get intimate with a stranger. No... he won't let this happen. He got up to move, but she stops him, telling him to stay back.

Ashok wasn't one to listen to anyone. So he walk closer to her. Charuvaki, moved to the next curtain, she told ashok to stay where he was or she will do something. Ashok asks what she will do, she stammered. Before looking for an idea. She quickly grab the dagger and told ashok she will cut her wrist.

That stops him for a second. Ashok looks at the way she was holding the dagger. It was held weakly And her hand was shaking, it was different compare to how his Kaurvaki held it. He wonder if she really is his wife.

When ashok took a step, she cried saying she will really do it, ashok challenge her. He told her to do it since she's so willing to kill herself. Charuvaki Was surprise, she was really hoping he would stop and listen, but instead he was daring her.

" go on" he says

Charuvaki gulp, before saying one last time she will do it. When ashok didn't budge she raise the blade to her wrist, faster then lightning. Ashok grab her wrist and pinned her to the wall. He say " did you actually think I would let you kill yourself again." He whispers " you are my life, it doesn't matter how many times you leave me. You will always belong to me" to prove his point, ashok grab the knife she had. And held on of her wrist.

Charuvaki scared asks him what he was doing, ashok sush her and carved an A on her wrist. She cried out when the knife touched her skin. When he was done. She almost fell to the floor, but ashok held her still. He grab her duppat and gently wipe the blood of her wrist " this will be a reminder that you belong to me, your body, heart and soul."

He let her hand go, when they heard a scream. Ashok became alert. Charuvaki snap out of it " I know that voice, it's the head" she says

Ashok says the fake king might be there. He quickly left the room follow by kaurvaki. When they reached the other room, they saw the head body on the floor. The fake king turn and saw ashok. His eyes widen. Ashok told him he was coming back to magadha where he will be punished for his crime. The king laugh, he told ashok he wasn't going anywhere. He says if anyone should be punished it should be siamak, and the fifth prince.

He says they told him to take the money from the safe. And rule kalinga. Ashok wasn't surprise, siamak was another person in the family that knows the passage way to get to the safe. The fifth didn't know. That only means he went along with siamak. Ashok smiles evilly. " this will be easier then. Killing two birds with one stone. "

He quickly grab his sword and kill the king. The blood splattered in the room. Charuvaki scream seeing the blood. Ashok turn to her and fold her to be quiet. She move back to leave, but ashok men arrive at the door. Ashok told them to hold her while they leave. When they we're out, he says to the soldiers " the head of this place is dead. Theirs no use for this harem anymore. Burn it to the ground. The soldiers nod.

Charuvaki asks ashok not to, she says this is the only place some of the dancers have. Ashok told her, he won't if she listen to him and come quietly. Charuvaki seeing the fire being built says she will. Ashok told them to drop everything because their heading to jaganath palace.

Charuvaki look one last time at the place she staid in before leaving. They walk through the heavy snow until they reached the castle. Ashok stopped them, and told them to stay while he grab Charuvaki. " you are coming with me" he says

" why?"

Ashok turn to her " you said you would come quietly "

This shut her up. When ashok reach the dungeon stairs. He told her to stay while he goes down. When he walk down he saw jagannath on the floor struggling. " jagannath? What has happened to you?"

" some soldiers came and attack the palace.they manage to attack me." He says

Ashok holding him, manage to get blood on his hand. Ashok told him he will bring his daughter to him . Jagannath nod. When ashok left his son arrived. He was surprise to see his father wounded. He walk to him " what happend here father? Who did this to you"

Jagannath loosing his breath. Thought ashok came back. He knew he was dying now. With is last breath he says ashok name. The prince was shock.

Meanwhile, ashok grab Charuvaki. She question about the blood on his hand, he told her not to worry about it. Ashok stopped when he heard voices. He hide behind the wall, before telling Charuvaki that their not welcome. " let's go"

Confuse she wonder, who the voice we're. While they left, she heard crying, she felt sad for some reason.

On that day Charuvaki / kaurvaki didn't know that her father had died. and a new king will rise which will start the beginning of a war.

Sushim watching bindu on his death bed, starts to cry. Bindu told him to change his ways for the better.

" how long will it be until she remembers? "

" I don't know...maybe years"

" I will kill all the people that we're their in that court, sushim should not know about fathers decision. "

The soldier watch as ashok carry Charuvaki to his horse. She was chained and was not pleased. She was demanding him to put her down. Ashok stops and look at her " didn't I tell you before to come quietly"

Charuvaki nod. She was about to say something when ashok cut her off " I played nice because you are my beloved, but now I won't be so nice."

Charuvaki turn her neck to stare at ashok. She hope he would be afraid if she stare long enough, but he ignored her. " look... general.. or chand sir. I'm not this Kaurvaki person, and I've never seen you in my life. If you don't let me go I will scream. Someone will find me"

Ashok soldiers snickered. One told her to do it, they told her no one will come. And even if they come, they will just turn back around because of him. Charuvaki told them to stop praising ashok. She says he doesn't scare her. Ashok raise a brow " you want me to let you go?"

Charuvaki nod. Ashok calmly says OK, this surprise everyone. Charuvaki smile, " than-", she never finished when she fell on the snow. She quickly got up shivering. Ashok soldiers start laughing. Ashok told her, she should think before she speaks next time. " now come" he says tugging on her chain.

The soldiers wonder how long it will take before she attempts to ascape. Again. Yes, this wasn't the first time. After they had left jagannath palace. they we're resting in a cave, Charuvaki manage to sneak out, and ran, but ashok followed her foot print and bring her back. The second attempt happen when ashok went to search for food. She had Told one of the guard she had to use the bathroom. At first they didn't believe her, until they saw her pants. Turns out she had pour water on her pants to make it look like she peed.

Ashok was furious when he found her gone. He told them she didn't get far, and that he will drag her back. When he found her, she was covered in snow. She had clung to ashok for warmth while heading back. And the third attempt so far was the hair clip attempt. Some how, she was able to find a behive. And pour honey near the tent the soldiers we're building. She had use her hair pin while they we're getting rid of the bees To ascape. ashok had told them not to worry, she will find them.

He told them the area is like a maze, she had no where else, but here. True to his word, she did come back, but she wasn't happy to see ashok and his soldiers.

And so here they we're once more. Walking, the snow was slowly melting on the floor, Kaurvaki, face was red from the cold. He knew her outfit choice wasn't suited for this kind of whether so he told them they will stop at the nearest market.

Meanwhile, bindu was on his death bed. Acharya told bindu that ashok and his men are still not back yet. Bindu told him this was for the best. He said he rather see ashok hate him then him weak. Acharya finally click things together. " is that why you sent ashok away, because you knew your time was up."

Bind U look at the ceiling " their many reasons why, but it's best if ashok feel like I have betray him, by making sushim the next in line. Ashok love his family, he needs to work on building a good relation with them in order to rule one day."

" one day? What are you up to bindu?"

Bindu smile " ashok have the potential to be the next king. Until he learn to rule with a gentle fist, sushim will take the thrown.how long it will take, will determine on him." He says

Acharya frown, he knew ashok won't take this lightly. For the better of the country ashok has to be king. It wasn't long before sushim walks in. He was just standing their watching bindu. As soon as Acharya leave he crack. " father, are you really unwell"

Bindu sigh " sushima, you have grown so much. I can still see the love there. I wish you would show it more and show that you are a kind prince"

" you've never showed me love. I've always had to fight for your attention with ashok. Mother always say you will see if I tried harder, but ashok always get the better end."

Bindu puts his hand on sushim head " you don't have to compete with ashok sushim. I may not show it, but I have always been proud of my sons. I wish your mother didn't influence you, I wish she had encourage you to be better instead of fill hate in your heart. But I never hated you"

Bindu smile " I always over looked what you do, because I believed you will change for the better. That is why I cho-" before Bindu could finish he drop his hand and took his last breath. Sushin surprise calls for Bindu. He told him to wake up, but he didn't. It wasn't long before people heard his crying, they came in to see Bibdu dead.

Charu held her tears, she ask sushim if Bindu appointed him as king. Sushim glares at her " father is dead, and all you think about is the crown."

" I know his dead sushim, but your forgetting your father never love you, he felt you didn't deserve the crown. Now is our chance to speak with those council and convince them that you deserve the crown."

Sushim, didn't respond but instead walk away.

Meanwhile,

Acharya was speaking amongst some of the council. They we're also not pleased with Bindu choice. " Bindu is dead. I'm sure Charu is plotting to give sushim the throne. We must inform ashok before it's to late."

One council says " ashok is no where to be found. How will we find him?"

Acharya smile " when theirs fear in people, ashok will be there. Besides he always leave a mark."

Elsewhere, ashok and his soldiers arrive at the market. When people saw them they became curious. The people seem happy to see them. Ashok wonder if he manage to enter the western area. The home of Helen. Their we're mumbles, but ashok ignored them. He walk to a store, and ask the shop keeper to find clothes for Charuvaki.

The men couldn't understand. Ashok tried to make the men understand, when he couldn't he was about to raise his sword, but someone answerd. The men walk to them and gave ashok a hug. Ashok looking at the Men realize he was one of his father ministers. The men ask ashok what he was doing around this area. Ashok told him he got lost.

He said his looking for a way to get back to ujjain. The minister told him it would take him an extra two days at the rate they we're going. He says he will show them a short cut, but first ashok should rest. He look at Kaurvaki who was amazed to see different things. " is she your wife?" The men asked

Both Charuvaki and ashok look at one another. Ashok was staring with so much love. While Kaurvaki cross her arm.

"Yes"

." No"

The minister said he would let them stay with him, but his house is full. He said he will just rent them a hotel. Ashok thank the men. The men told to follow him, before leaving he bought the clothes for Kaurvaki.

Few minutes later...

" unfortunetly you two will have to share this room. The soldiers occupied the remaining one's " as soon as he said this he quickly left before ashok could protest.

Ashok and charuvaki/Kaurvaki didn't move. That wasn't until Charuvaki decides to check out the clothes he bought her. She move to grab the bag, but she ends up hitting ashok chest. She glare at him, and ashok shrug his shoulder. She tried again, but the same thing happen. " what are you doing?"

" your forgetting the chain is short. You can't move further without me."

Charuvaki, stubbornly tried again. Ashok crack a smile, he grab the chain and pull on it a little hard. Causing her to fall on him. They both fell on the floor. Charuvaki turn facing him, while she sat on his lap. " your always clumsy, but thats one of the things I love about you." He says

Charuvaki blush, before getting up. " you must love this Kaurvaki A lot"

" yes, she is my other half."

Charuvaki smile, she said she wish someone would love her and value her like he does for his wife. Ashok came behind her,and touch her shoulder . " you already have, and that's me" he says before leaning for a kiss. She move away making him frown.

" look, chand sir, don't Co fuse me with your wife. And please stop doing romantic things with me, it's not fair. "

Ashok eyes became stern " you are my beloved, and wife...Kaurvaki. why can't you see that"

Charuvaki step back. She shiver seeing ashok anger, ashok walk near her, but she move back. Seeing her scared face frustrate him. He wanted to hit something, and that happen to be the wall behind her. Charuvaki eyes widen. All she wanted to do was get away from him. Luckily the bathroom door was next to her. She reached for the handle and walk in. Closing it on his face.

When she was gone, ashok calm down. He was angry with himself and her for forgetting him. He wonder and hope she is pretending because she was upset at him for not telling her about Devi. He would rather see her upset over that then forgetting him.

Elsewhere,

Devi and vit. Were doing laundry when they heard some people mumbling. Surprise, Devi asked them if it was true, they nod. Vit. Says " we have to go back, theirs no way his dead"

When they arrive they saw everyone at the funeral. Devi starts to cry, while vit tries to go in. He was stopped by a guard. Charu told the guards his not welcome here, and for him to go back. Vit was upset, suddenly Vit heard Devi scream. He turn to see her on the floor. " Vit... please help me. ..my baby... it's coming"

Vit panicked. He ask an old women for help, and she took Devi to her house. Their she gave birth to a girl. She was so happy. Vit said we should wait for bhai before naming her.Devi agrees.

Meanwhile,

Everyone was moaning over the loss of bindu. Acharya says they should wait for ashok, charu says ashok has been gone for four days, he could be dead. She says " as bindu first wife, we will continue the preparation"

And so they burn bindu body and said their farewell. The citizen we're now questioning who will rule them. Some of the council who missed the meeting says ashok is gone, " how can he be king if he missed his own father cremation"

" it's an insult"

" calm down, ashok would have come. Bindu sent him on a quest."

" how long will the thrown be empty, I'm sure bindu appointed someone." Charu said looking at ashok supporters

Acharya said " if he did, you would be the first to know"

Charu didn't believe it " are you sure Acharya? You sure your not hiding things, after all you we're there by his side"

"Enough mother, let's go back for now" sushim says recalling Bindu words.

Once they left Acharya head to Helen.

With ashok,

Ashok felt bad for scaring her. He wish she would open up so he can see her. Its been two hours already. " open up Kaurvaki"

When he got no respond, he tried again. But she still refused. Sighing ashok thought of an idea. He look around until he spotted a mouse running. Quickly he grabs it and puts it under the bathroom door. Ashok told the mouse to help him out. He shoo the mouse and it went under. Few second later ashok heard noises and the door clicking.

Charuvaki came out running, while screaming. Ashok pull on the shackle causing her to bump and fall on him once again. They both stare at one another while ashok wrap his hand around her waist. " I'm sorry" he says

Charuvaki eyes widen " is this a trick? Are you gonna kill me after this" she says

Ashok chuckles " I would never hurt or put you in harms way. Its just I've been away from you for to long. And knowing that your near, but can't remember me, upsets me. It makes me want to lock you up and keep you near until you remember "

Charuvaki soften " I understand, but you have to understand as well that am not your Kaurvaki. I'm Charuva-" she never finish when she got up to use the bathroom.

This confuse ashok. He ask if she was fine, she says she's feeling weird. Ashok told her to rest, he will sleep on the wall.

Kaurvaki while sleeping kept having dreams, it was blurry once again. She saw a lion walking away from a young men, who was dead. She kept mumbling something in her sleep. Ashok stir and walk to her bed. He tries waking her, but she wouldn't budge. Decided he sat next to her bed, and hold her hand. The whole night, before the sunrise.

Acharya met helan , helan asks if bindu Was really dead. Acharya nod. Helen broke down crying. Acharya says the council's are planning on making sushim king. He says he needs Her help. Helen told him she has no power, bindu took that rights from her.

" half of the council has connection with you. Maybe you can convince them to give the throne to ashok."

" it's not that easy acharya, I will have to give them a reason why ashok deserve the throne. With the way ashok is doing things, it won't be easy." She says

" you can try." He says

" what will I get from this?"

Acharya smile " your freedom"

Helan thought about it. She sigh before agreeing. She ask him where is ashok. He says that's why he needs her help. Helen was now confuse.

Elsewhere,

Charu was talking with sushim. " third prince uncle says he would gladly back us up. So two third of the council wants you to be king. We're one step ahead of the throne" she says

She looks at sushim who was staring out the window. She walk to him and puts a hand on his shoulder " what is troubling you susheema?"

" father was about to say something to me before he died. Something important."

Charu asks if he was sure. Sushim nod. " maybe it had something to do with his successor "

Sushim agreed. He recall bindu words over and over. Wondering if bindu was really gonna say he will be king.

Meanwhile,

Charuvaki and ashok we're getting. Charuvaki came out the bathroom having problem putting the toga on. She stop when she saw ashok back. She couldn't help, but blush seeing his muscles. She gulp, waw for a dangerous man he has nice body. I wonder how it would feel being held in those arms, she thought.

She stop thinking when she saw ashok looking up. She quickly turn around frozen. Ashok seeing her asks if she was done already. Charuvaki, nod. She was embarrassed that she even think about it. When she felt the rope on the toga fall down her shoulder, she tried putting it back on.

When it was on her shoulder, she turn. Ashok breath was taken away. She was looking pretty in the white toga. She cursed when it fell of her shoulder again, showing her milky skin. Ashok walk to her, he was now staring down at her. He grab the straps of the togga and circle his arm in a hug like fashion. " w-what a-are y-you d-doing?" She stutters

Ashok look down at her. " I'm helping you, do you want me to do it or not?"

Charuvaki feeling warm allowed it. Ashok on the other hand was enjoying it, he was taking his time tying it. He didn't forget to touch a little flash while doing it. Charuvaki cheeks we're now red. She whispers if he was teasing her. Ashok got on her level. Both staring with their lips close. " I am" he says " is that a problem kaurvaki? "

Charuvaki knew if she move a little bit, their lips would touch. But she refused to. She snap out of it when they heard a men speak. " it's time "

Few hours later, ashok and his men's we're walking, the men told them they will have to be careful while going up the mountain path. Charuvaki looks down. She became scared seeing trees down below. She told ashok she can't do it. Ashok sigh. He told his men to keep moving. " kaurwaki, just don't look down."

" sir , the pathway is to thin, and were just going to keep going around. If this is the way im going to die, then i refuse to move"

She was looking down everytime, watching as rocks fall down.

Ashok told her if she trust him. She quickly shook her head and said no. Ashok frown. " give me your hand"

"Why?"

When ashok said no words, she extand her hand. He grabs it and starts to walk. He told her to only look at him. while walking she felt weird. She felt warm watching ashok guide her. She suddenly had a flashback to the time she took rounds with ashok. She wonder what that was.

When they reach the other side, ashok let her go. They continue walking until they reach the river. The council man told them his stopping here. He says if they cross this river then their in uujain. Ashok thanks the men. He signal his men and they started crossing. Charuvaki was about to when her head starting hurting. She felt dizzy. She watch as ashok walk across, she mumbles his name.

Ashok turn seeing charuvaki, looking lost and sick. He quickly went back and lift her up just in time before she fainted. " kaurvaki!!...kaurvaki?"

Quickly ashok cross the river. He told them to go to his house. He will be their soon. Ashok quickly ran another way, heading to the women he knew will help.while running he met with acharya and helan. He was surprise. Ashok told them, he will talk with them later. He says he has to help his kaurvaki. It was in the afternoon that ashok reached the house.

He knocked and chanda open. She look at ashok and the women in his arm. " come in"

Once everyone was in, she asks how kaurvaki was alive. Ashok says he doesnt know. Chanda check her body, and pulse. " do you know whats wrong with her?"

Chanda sush ashok to see. She check kaurvaki stomach and eyes widen. Acharya told ashok they have to talk , ashok told him they can talk after. Chanda calls ashok, " did you find what is causing this?"

" yes, it appears you will be a father"

" what!?"

Ashok denies the child. Saying its not possible. " i havent seen her in three years this cant be my child." He remeber her in the harlem and got angry, he points a sword on her neck " you cheated me"

Ashok and his mens kill the councilS who were against him.

Charu asks One of the dying council, who was made king. He says sushim. Charu was shock. She told the guards to gather everyone and find sushim.

Ashok is seen walking in the palace with his soldiers. Blood was on his face. The councils were behind him, so was acharya. Charu says " you all have betrayed me, now i will remove all the alliances i did , and you have made a new enemy."
