She didn't know how long she had been sitting like this when she felt the softest of touch on her cheeks, fingers brushing against tear stained skin.
She jerked out from her grief filled trance , and suppressed a shriek of surprize at the sight of the very familiar figure of her favorite person on this earth standing in her dark bedroom, with his chiseled face half illuminated from the moon light coming through the balcony !!
Ahoy to the force of will !!
She gazed shamelessly at the silhouette of his face . He stood still as if a spell will be broken if he so much as moves a muscle. Around him even the air seemed to have become intensified and electrified. Or may be it's just her body's own natural reaction to his proximity.
Silence, utter silence prevailed in the room for some time. She waited for him to break the ice and say some thing. Say her name , may be greet her ?? She tried to control her emotions to the best . She'd not choke on tears if he had come to say bye. She waited. She's good at waiting by now. Maybe that's what she's made for when she was sent to Earth ?? An eternity of frustrating wait.
A discreet cough was heard at the door. The Head maid Urmila was standing at the door ,
" Shall I arrange for some candles, my lady ?? " After Ahan nodded in permission , she entered with a bevy of maids , filled the room with fragrant candles , served cold sherbet and sweets and left silently as they came.
And the infuriating silence remained like an invisible wall, all through it , without Ashok so much as nodding at her direction in acknowledgement of her presence.
She fiddled around a bit with the plates of sweet , placing them in front of Ashok, gesturing him to take sit on her bed, by her side. Ashok didn't show least bit of interest in taking sit beside her. He simply shifted weight from one hip to another and pinned her with his piercing gaze.
And then was the first time in an eon that she looked at him properly , with her heart beating so fast, she was sure even Ashok could hear the sound of it, if he paid attention.
It seemed to her that he has never looked handsomer than he was right then, standing in front of her , his jaw bones set in a grim manner , There were dark shadows beneath his copious eye lashes. His eyes had an odd expression, a weird gleam of some altogether new emotion . It was not the tender passion of a lover. It was not the genuine sweet affection and kindness of a friend. It was not lust. It was difficult to understand and nearly impossible to describe.
It was like .. like he's slightly feverish , his eyes had the kind of glow she'd only seen in a fevered person. There was a ruthless hunger , a kind of suppressed aggression and violence contained in his eyes, the slightest twist of his mouth , the way he was holding himself upright as if he can unleash himself like an ultimate nightmare upon any body who dares to breathe a wrong breath. He looked like a fine sword turned into human.
It was damn frightening and simultaneously mesmerizing in a deeply disturbing way.
Her knee jerk reaction was to throw herself hard in his arms and just let the eternity of time flow over them without separating them. But something in his face..some thing in his body language ..some thing in the embers of his eyes stopped her short.
She felt it in her heart. Ashok has changed. The boy she'd bade goodbye at the court room of Mauriya palace was not the person standing in front of him. She could feel the darkness emanating from him , she could see it, she could taste it in the air.
Suddenly she was a little bit afraid, and a whole lot turned on. Suddenly she wants to run away and suddenly she wants to become one with this guy...
