Why does Justin have to sacrifice himself

Justin knows that he is weak and cannot put Siamak on the throne. He needs a person of his mother's calibre to do that. Either he kills Varahmihir, takes the blame and dies or lets him tell the truth and has his mother executed. He thinks that his mother is a stronger ally to his son than himself.

Also initially he wishes him mom to be off the execution grounds as he fears that she may get emotional tell the truth and get killed herself. That would leave Siamak devoid of a strong support. But when Bindu says that Helena has asked to execute Justin herself, he understands that the queen in Helena has over-powered the mother, she has decided to become the ultimate desh-premi by killing her own son, winning praja support and bhakti. This will help Siamak a long way, as the words of a patriotic God-Mother who goes to any lengths for the country has extreme weightage. Nobody knows that Siamak is Helena's grandson. So her supporting Siamak will not arouse suspicion.

Justin by his sacrifice has protected his mother and given a boost to the future of his son.

The other choice she had was telling the truth, getting herself killed and leaving justin who will be called as a traitor's son. Nobody will believe that he was not involved. This will leave a slim chance of yunani ascension to throne and thus revenge against Maurya Vansh.

It was a choice between the devil and the deep sea. Mother and son choose an option that is less harmful to their goal and purpose.

Yes. Helena is so hard hearted and cruel that she places her purpose above her son. But that was Justin's wish too. This heard heartedness leaves Chanakya stunned.

Fantastic post...

Loved the screenplay and execution of the episode. What a Game of Thrones!

Mother & Son see the bigger picture. There never was, isn't and never would have been a future for Justin. He is past all of that and then over and above a weakling. So he took the shortcut. He knows his mother will do everything that it takes to get Siamak to the throne.

After all CAS is about Ashok and his ascension to the throne. It was never about Bindusar or Justin. Love how the CVs spun the tale to make Siamak become Ashok's biggest rival/threat unknowingly.

There's absolutely no need to sympathize with a crook like Justin. He's not a 'doodh ka dhul hua' from any angle.
I don't understand all this so-called sympathy for Justin.

Even if Helena spoke the truth, Justin would still be hanged or atleast condemned to prison for life.

Remember he murdered a key witness i.e. Varahamihir right in front of everyone's eyes. This crime is sufficient for him being jailed.

Just bcoz he wasn't involved in lakshyagriha plotting doesn't mean he wasn't involved at all.

He knew abt this sinister plan a day in advance. If he wanted, he could have saved the lives of scores of innocents who died there. But No! He chose to only save Noor and Siyamak which shows that he supported his mother in this plan!

Also he was fully involved in all the previous plans to kill bindusar.
Multiple killings (Varahamihir and that soldier) both in the Sabha, betraying your motherland and also being an accomplice in all evil plans are MORE than sufficient to give a person a death sentence.

Justin did a great mistake of saving his cruel mother and greedy nikator. He sacrificed his life for his son Siamak.Poor Justin his death will go futile if Siamak will nt become the king. How is he damn sure that Siamak wud become the king as he is nt the only one aiming for the throne.Charumitra and Sushim are also fighting for it.In the future wat might happen nobody knows

His other choice was worse. He chose the easy way out and willingly so.

Exactly. The build up to the emergence of ruthlessness in Ashoka is well brouoght out.

Ashoka has just witnessed to what extent people in high places can go to win the throne. Even motherhood becomes an ancillary secondary commidity.😒

Exactly. The game of Thrones is so demanding and heartless. Yes there is very little heart, very little life, very little truth left in icy cold heights.

Mother & Son see the bigger picture. There never was, isn't and never would have been a future for Justin. He is past all of that and then over and above a weakling. So he took the shortcut. He knows his mother will do everything that it takes to get Siamak to the throne.

True. Justin takes the short cut and easy way out and leaves his mom to take reins as he knows that she will be a better stronger ally to his son.

Interesting of course. But just hope that it is crisper too.
