Hi Sandhya, how have you been? Good to see you.
Warm Regards
Kaana
Hi Kaana,
Nice to see you too.🤗
After the JA experience, where I expected historical semblance if not historical accuracy, esp with the brilliant cast and the wonderful first 80 episodes, my expectation bar is very low for Ashoka, another favourite Emperor of mine, the only other addressed Great. Hope he has better luck.
I am totally prepared for the malice called NR this time.😆
Evil sorceress in the form of Charumithra a la Ruqs, Helena a la Maham Anga, Saazishes called Kshadyantra here, Justin a la Aadham (there it was a host of baandhis and here the queen herself...😲...gulp!) . The only relief is Chanakya. I dread the entry of Devi with her quota of Indian-tele-serial-heroine-formula nektha and mahaantha and always-suffering melodramas.
Nice to see many here with whom I have had a nice time arguing and agreeing with views.
Wish you a very happy Holi.
Regards,
Sandhya.😊

Nope! Not such a huge NR for sure. Read that Chanakya's spy Nirjara who impersonates Dharma earlier in the court is the dead lady. Chanakya had appointed her to protect Dharma 24*7 and she saved Dharma and faced the killers. Dharma's face was not shown clearly during the attack and her face was blotched by the artificial tiger claws by the killers. So till Dharma makes her re-appearance after a brief time, there will be more drama, more tears and more single string violin plaintive notes to cash in the TRPs.

Hi Sandhaya, so nice to see you on the Ashoka forum...you debate well..I enjoy it...but nothing personal here...no Rajputs and no cholas( or any other madrasi kingdom) ...neutral ground where we can discuss history without offending our ancestors...I am very protective of my Rajput heritage,,,,,,I bet you feel the same about madrasi people and their history.

Hi Cleo...🤗
Nice to see many old friends here. Many with an inclination for historicals are with Ashoka too.

Yup. No misunderstandings or personal/ community sentiments here. (Thankfully)

I am as much proud of the Cholas as of Rajputs or any wonderful lineages that ruled India. There are greats, traitors, fools and excellents in all clans, in different percentages though. What irked me in JA was only the partiality to one at the expense of another. If Tipu Sultan was made to look like a coward/idiot to glorify any 'Madrasi' king, i would have been equally irked.

Anyway as you said, Ashoka stands on neutral grounds. Debates if any will be restricted only to characters not clans and communities.

If we can forget the NR the presentation has been good so far.😊

@Bold - you said it! And absolutely, Ashoka needs all the best wishes. Looks like even enemies of the great heroes would not have treated them so bad as the NR does! And I agree with you whole heartedly, the brilliant cast of JA has been wasted big time.
I am totally prepared for the malice called NR this time.😆
You said it. Me too. These shows mature us up and develop dipassion is us!!!

Wow! what a comparison. Bang on! Every shows follows the same pattern. And with CSA, there are similar tracks and dialogues also in MP and Ashoka. How I wish the creatives are creative to portray a different storyline, differnt kshadyantra-s, making it a little interesting that way. I am getting tired of the same storyline and one can easily guess what is coming next. And to the extent, that a son (like Justin) would be created to comply to the unwritten rule of these storylines
Nice to see many here with whom I have had a nice time arguing and agreeing with views.
Yeah, same here. Your posts are always enjoyable with its logic and debate quality. Looking forward to it.
I am not regular on forums, please bear with the delays in response.
Wish you a very happy Holi.

Sandhya.😊

I am deleting this post for the following reasons
1. PM from the most polite moderator...this is out of respect for you.
2. My wonderful best friend who is a keralite...she wasn't offended because she knows me...the only time I sound religious or clanist is when I am dealing with offensive regional radicals with a chip on their shoulder. I will do ithis for her. I know that I cn be contacted on the PM by anyone who wants a "debate".
Thank you all!

Hi Cleo
Missing your posts after reading these here :)

Just a small request - Pls use S Indians or the specific name of the community instead of Madrasis which really bugs me most. Just as all N Indians are not Punjabis, all S Indians are not Madrasis. There's a whole plethora of cultures and communities down south. 😊

Carry on your convo! Enjoying the debate and waiting for Sandhya's response.

@Sandhya : Hi, have you completely left JA? Miss your arguments too 😊

Cleo nice to see you after so long i m a punjabi and mughals have been brutal to our sikh gurus with the exception being Akbar and that is why my respects for him which has nothing to do who is playing the role and rajat is a great actor whats the harm in praising him...we mainly bash PS'jodha and some illogical dialogues given to her and we also bash jalal when we do not like his role..sorry to intervene as your post was for sandhya!
And when such things happen there are no personal attacks intended to each their own and i believe in healthy discussions which we all have the liberty to do when we agree or not agree! But you yourself see cleo since you are a learned mature person why all credits are being given to jodha forcefully when none of us have read much about her in history just because Akbar was considered an outsider who almost changed into a hindu before he died! Bechara na ghar ka raha na ghaat ka!

I may be novice here amongst great debaters, but this whole s vs n is truly in bad taste...CSA, I think is the heritage of whole India, as is Akbar, Pratap, Jodha/ HK, Noor, PRC or even a Jai Chand or a Mir Zafar...black, white or grey, like it or not history has varied shades which we can't chose but learn and feel.

I guess TM will take a note of this, and try to avoid

I agree with you Mishti. S.India vs N.India is in really really poor taste, completely uncalled for, and completely unwarranted.

I don't know what irked you so much Sandhaya? ...I hv read your posts on JA...Mughals weren't without flaws...akbar was/ is being glorified more than he deserves...and Rajputs were shown as flawed...yes, Jodha was exceptional...but can we hold it against her because she was a native North Indian ????i hv been very active on JA forum... And, I believe that most of jodha bashers are Madrasis( and Pakistanis)...not sure why? ,,,cannot understand why some people from a certain part of south India dislike North Indians so much( Mughals who " defeated" northerners are more acceptable...rather hailed as heroesthis is India's biggest irony... Please don't come up with an intellectual sounding response...be honest...why do you bash Jodha and Rajputs( including one the great Indian heroes Mahrana Pratap so much...just because they are not Cholas????i want to know)...I try to understand this hatred...choosing to love an invader over someone from your own country( Best if no one gets started with how flawless Akbar was...I read my history and am aware...I will be forced to post how he used Islamic radicalism to his advantage...n kill Hindus )...and what was the biggest fault of native North Indians??????To fight for their independence!!!!! They were bashed by Madrasis on JA forum like there is no tomorrow,,,,,Really...or is it just about the hormonal response to Rajat Tokas...he can play Hitler and Jews will be the Target...this is sad.
I am very very very busy these days...if you post something in response and it takes 7-8-9 days for me to respond, please, don't think, I am ignoring you...I will respond as soon as I get the time to read your response.
Best,
Cleo

It is this racism that has irked me most. The moral science teaching shade and the i-am-never-wrong that was given to the Jodha of the serial was not appreciated by many. But any comment was immediately linked to the clan and supposed to be derogatory. The makers were making an idiot out of the able king to suit the standard heroine-mahaanta formula. Love, i can understand but such majnugiri ? Well, anything that was criticised on the charecterisation was again taken as an insult to the real MUZ and her clan. Where does thequestion of clan come in at all? Most of the comments there used to be serial based. If you really had to complain it had to be against the cvs.

I have no partiality to Mughals, only to Akbar as i believe he WAS indeed a great king. Not flawless or perfect but nevertheless great. I am no fan of Ghori or Ghajini. And where have you read anything derogatory about Maharana Pratap. And Ashoka, whom i have mentioned in this very thread as another favorite emperor is very much north indian. If there is any other Chola/pallava king who belongs to the list, what is so tease-worthy about it. In fact, my hometown doesn't fall under the Chola zone at all.

May i ask the reason for your contempt by continually using the 'Madarasi' term. It is a pity that you see clan and race everywhere and in everything. You need to remove your coloured glasses dear and judge people by what they are, what they speak and not what clan/ community they belong to esp your north indian/south indian attitude.

Speaking of Rajat Tokas, yes, he is an exceptionally good actor. But again, aren't you hitting below the belt by terming appreciating him as a harmonal response.

I am quite disappointed at your thinking. Anyway you are the boss of your thoughts and are free to your opinions. I didn't want to argue on this totally unrelated topic here but Infact you were the one who brought up this argument in this thread of Abhay that was on Chanakya. I don't want his thread to face any warning, so i call it quits and am not coming back to argue with you.
