Acting is spiritualShahrukh Khan reinvents himself as anchor for Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hai? and co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders. Voices catches up with the superstarWhat has been your success story so far? I was often told during my theatre life that I must please children to become a successful actor. I tried my level best to follow it throughout my career. So far it has been successful because children appreciated my movies and they still do.
Were you interested in acting since your childhood? Yes, I was very much interested, I used to act in plays and Ram Leelas even when I was younger than you, I used to take real good interest in acting in those days. In fact, I used to organise some plays myself.
What does acting mean to you?If there is anything spiritual in my life, it's acting. It's a spiritual experience for me.It provides me the peace that people get through meditation.
Tell us something about your childhood days…I was a very naughty kid, ekdam nak mein dam kar dene wala baccha tha main, hamesha school bus miss karta tha aur sabko pareshan kar deta tha… (Smiles).
What would have SRK been if not an actor?(Thinks)... Probably a sportsman!
You were the captain of your college hockey team and then you acted as the coach in Chak De India. How did you feel when you had to showcase your hockey skills once again after such a long gap?I loved playing hockey and when the CDI script came to me,I was overjoyed to hear that I had to play the role of a coach who trains the women's hockey team for the World Cup. The feeling was so intense that I really can't describe it, it was a real good experience to have been back on the hockey field at least in a film.
Let's focus on Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hai?This is entirely a different concept from KBC. How was it working on this format?
KBC was totally different. This is yet another concept obviously. Here I am working with five kids and I am not alone on the set. It's much more comfortable and exciting. I always liked working with children and am simply enjoying it.
If you are asked to take the seat opposite where you sit, will you be able to prove that you are 'smarter than a fifth grader'?Well! I guess I won't be able to. (laughs)
Rapid Fire Round...Family or acting? Both are important, I guess.
No... just one.Family.
Sourav or Shoaib? (As a cricketer)Sourav, our very own dada! (Smiles)
Favourite co-stars, Juhi or Kajol? Can't answer this. Both are my favourites as my co-stars and both are my good friends.
Kolkata or Mumbai?Both... (Smiles)
Chak De India or Om Shanti Om?Chak De India.
