Actress Gauahar Khan is all excited about her next film, Fever, opposite Rajeev Khandelwal. The reason: this is her first lead role in Bollywood.

Says she, "I've got a role, which will allow me to stand out; I'm not just a prop. This film has given me the kind of opportunity that actors can only dream of. Rajeev is an incredible actor, who chooses projects that break the norm.Rajeev Jhaveri (the director) has made anexciting project."

With 2012 being a good year, especially since she won accolades for her role in Ishaqzaade, Gauahar says, "I was fortunate to get a role that also required me to do songs other than just item numbers. With two good films " Rocket Singh Salesman Of The Year and Ishaqzaade " from Yashraj Films, I'm hoping there will be more."

Gauahar says she doesn't want to stick to any prototype. "We always get categorised, but I've tried to break the norm. Every time someone says I shouldn't do something, I say 'Watch me' and surprise them," she says.

While the actress loves to be part of films, she says that her USP has been that she has never stuck to doing one thing. From reality television to VJing, it is variety that keeps Gauahar going.

She adds, "If I did a show like Khan Sisters, it was for fans to connect with me on a personal level. I did Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa when I needed to showcase my talent. A live musical like Zangoora, which has already had over 1,000 shows, helped me connect with the audiences live. If you have the will and confidence, everyone appreciates good work. If you're worth it, work will come to you. Ultimately, I'm an actor at heart, be it in front of a camera or on stage."

Quiz Gauahar on where she sees herself next and she says, "I see myself doing lead roles, which will showcase my acting potential."
