would like to answer that question you posed yesterday.

his first dhak dhak.

i can almost hear it inside myself. asr's brow furrowing, his breath gaining pace, becoming louder. he is confused, confounded, what's happening to him?

something that started months ago, when he saw her the first time, when he snapped the pearl dori, when he saw her tears, saw her in a red saree, saved her in the rain and held her close a bit longer than necessary, when he couldn't stop thinking of her, when he uttered her name calling out for the first time "khushi" in the guest house, panic gripping him, when her tears fell on his hand and he was stricken, when he just couldn't help himself he had to touch her face, tuck back her hair. when he gathered her up in his arms and carried her to safety for the first time, when he just had to look at her before leaving, had to look at the wound on his palm, a cut made by the same bangle that had hurt her, when he felt that inexplicable need to touch and feel that wound, when he said sorry the first time, when he berated himself for letting her stay in the dark alone and get fever, when he couldn't control his rage whena ruffian touched her, when he...

so many when's.

at this moment all of them seemed to come together and find an expression finally. a resolution. a clear indication as to what it all means. his heart thudded. his eyes met his own in that reflection on his trustee window. how often he'd stood there gazing out, pondering life. tonight it seemed to want to tell him something.

and the word escaped his lips.

khushi.

did you hear how much was in that one utterance? as though he breathed through that name. dhak dhak, dhak dhak.

my rational mind said, corny. what's this? khushi yes, but asr dhak dhak-ing? what saved it, of course, was barun. how very concentrated asr he was in that scene. wiped out all silliness. just left you gazing at a man laid bare before himself, his being moved by a realisation. she had become part of his heart, his breath.

he heard the beat, he wondered why, he connected. khushi.

it was more than an alarm, it was recognition of a feeling for a person. at last.

my take, may not be what it was. 😳

@ritu- yes IPK had some amazing lyrics..I especially liked kyun khwabon pr tere...

@all- regarding first dhak dhak...indi di you very well described through your words his amazing journey...of his first dhak dhak...I was reminded of very beautiful VM that I saw on that scene where Arnav looks at unconscious khushi from window when he brings her back from Guest House...song was Dil kyun yeh mera shor karein...and particular lines from that song for scene so aptly described his feelings...

Shuru ho gyi kahani meri,

mere dil ne baat na maani meri...😳

i so agree.ipk was one of those rare indian telly that has got brilliant ost. just the starting of rabba vey still give me a chilly spine😳
