When your real-life husband is also your onscreen husband

Resshmi Ghosh and Siddharth Vasudev Show: BuddhaResshmi says they aren't a couple that goes 'Hi baby' on the set. "We are completely professional and we complement each other. I was offered the show in the beginning, but Siddharth was not comfortable with us working together since he is a bit possessive. He is a very private person. But when the offer came again, he agreed and I also felt that it would be nice to work with him. It's not just about spending time together, but about reaching that comfort level professionally, too. However, I have to be careful not to behave like a wife at work. Playing the dual role of a wife at home and on the screen is a task in itself," she says.

I thought of ending my life twice, when my career hit an all-time low: Amit Behl

I thought of ending my life twice, when my career hit an all-time low: Amit Behl
Amit Behl

Amit Behl on his struggles and how he coped with them

Telly actor Amit Behl, who is busy with two shows " as a vicious father-in-law in Jee Le Zara and as Guru Vachaspati in Buddha " says he had actually contemplated suicide when his career hit an all-time low in 2003-2004.

The actor, who debuted with telly show Shanti in the 90s, saw his career come to a standstill when saas-bahu shows became the trend. Says he, "There was a time when producers turned away from me as I did not fit into their scheme of things. On one hand, I was appreciated for my work in theatre, films and TV, but on the other hand, there was nothing to hold on to. TV was suddenly about women-centric shows and kitchen politics. It was such a bad phase that I thought of ending my life not once, but twice. When you have tasted success and suddenly no one is looking at you, you feel totally rejected. I even tonsured my head. However, after my son was born, luck started favouring me and I got into TV again. I did roles in Dekha Ek Khwaab and Savitri, but my role in Jee Le Zara has got me good reviews."

Dr B.K. Modi's Buddha - Rajaon Ka Raja on Zee TV will see a new highpoint this weekend with Siddhartha (Himanshu Soni) and Suddhodan (Sameer Dharmadhikari) being upset over the fact that Prasanjeet refused giving war expenses. On the other hand, Mangla (Reshmi Ghosh) would be excited over her brother Tapodhan coming up with a wedding proposal for her son Devdutt (Devyansh Tapuriah).

In the Sangha Sabha, all the Shakyan kings will be upset with Prasanjeet refusing to give war expenses. All will blame Siddhartha and Suddhodhan for this; Raja Tapodhan will also blame Siddhartha for not interfering in his state's political matters. Suddhodhan will get angry over this and will ask Tapodhan to leave the Sangha Sabha.

This will be when Siddhartha will come up with a plan to construct a new road which will help Magadh for trade, and in return would help them earn tax from travellers. On the other side, Mangla will get furious and counter Sudhodhan for ill-treating Raja Tapodhan in Sangha Sabha.

All this and more for the viewers to watch this weekend (9 February) on Zee TV's Buddha.

Alara Kalama to get to know of Siddhartha being the 'Yug Purush' in Zee TV's Buddha

😛

Siddhartha (Himanshu Soni), the prince of Kapilavasthu has taken to the jungles to master the art of meditation and find his answers about mankind in DR B K Modi's Buddha - Rajaon Ka Raja on Zee TV.

In this week's episode, Siddhartha will try his level best to persuade Master Alara Kalama (Arun Bali) to take him as his disciple and tutor him about the meditation techniques. At the other end, Siddhartha's faithful animal companion Kanthaka will pass away, and Suddhodhan (Sameer Dharmadhikari) will be pained by his son's absence all the more.

Yashodhara's (Kajal Jain) father Dandapani will arrive at Kapilavasthu and blame Suddhodhan for all that has happened, and will want to take his daughter back. But Yashodhara will refuse to go, and will insist on playing a waiting game to see her husband again.

After a lot of persuasion, Alara Kalama will finally accept Siddhartha as his shishya. Siddhartha will in course of time master meditation, by getting a hold on his breathing. While Dandapani will send his men to look for Siddhartha and get him back to his daughter, Alara Kalama will get excited and emotional when he will get to know of Siddhartha being the same Prince who would be the Yug Purush born to change the course of life of mankind.

When contacted, Arun Bali told us, "Yes, Alara Kalama will be ecstatic to know of Siddhartha being the same prince that Asit Munni had predicted of being the Yug Purush."

Catch the interesting story-ahead this week in Zee TV's Buddha.

I request viewers to equally support the transformation of Siddhartha to Buddha - Himanshu Soni

😛

Himanshu Soni, as the young Prince Siddhartha in Dr B K Modi's Buddha - Rajaon Ka Raja on Zee TV has put in his heart and soul into the character. He feels he has thoroughly studied the character, and has given his cent percent to work. And today, his efforts have been paid off as he has been appreciated by his fans. And the actor feels that it is a big achievement for him, when his family starts to cry when they watch him on-screen, as they feel his acting so heart-wrenching.

Now that the story in Buddha has seen a transformation from the royal prince Siddhartha taking to the jungles, we wondered whether Himanshu had to put in special preparations to get this makeover right. Himanshu answered our question saying, "Well, I did not even get a single minute to prepare myself for this transformation. Nowadays, I am shooting for both the characters, as I need to shoot as Siddhartha too. It will take few days more for the track of Buddha to start. I guess I will take some time to get a grip on the new avatar."

Talking further, the young lad said, "Shooting gets a bit hectic as I need to emote quite a lot as Siddhartha. And to play Buddha too in the very next shot can be tough. But I am managing both the roles and trying to give my best."

Himanshu who is a kind of recluse on the set does not talk much to his co-actors off screen. However, he feels that his on-screen chemistry with Kajal Jain was strong enough for viewers to appreciate it.

On the learning curve he has had as an individual post bagging the prized role, the actor stated, "I used to be a very short-tempered person. But with me playing this role for some time now, my anger has come under very much control. I am aware about everything happening around me, and believe in staying happy in the present."

On the next phase of storytelling, Himanshu averred, "The journey of Buddha is very difficult. Personally I am trying to take time so that I can study Buddha's character. Before the role of Siddhartha started, I had done a lot of studying. As of now, I feel I will get into the character of Buddha in the next ten days."

Himanshu has a request to his fans who are looking forward to this transformation. "I would like to tell them that they should equally support the changes, so that we can share more about the transformation and give them something new to watch. Overall, I am expecting a positive response from the audience."

When asked about what he will miss as he sheds off the characteristics of Siddhartha, he said, "I will miss the character a lot, and of course my co-stars. As you know, Buddha is a completely different character when compared to Siddhartha."

On the reason for the show not fetching high ratings, he explained, "The Indian public does not follow the show regularly. There are a few Buddhists who follow our show. The youth is not interested in such shows, as they prefer watching music and movie channels. This explains the reason for the TVT of our show being less."

On future plans, Himanshu quipped, "I am getting offers for films. But I will not jump into any negative role after playing Buddha. I will prefer to play positive ones."

Himanshu, we wish you all the luck for the next phase of Buddha.
