Call me a person who lives under a ROCK, but I have never heard about that book. Usually, I am not really into mysteries. And it kinda seems like a mystery. Also, it does seem kind of interesting. I will definitely give it a try.

The quotes are just.. ❤️

Do we have to read all the books in order? Or can the books be read in any order (sort of like Agatha Christie or Sherlock)? Because this seems interesting. :)

It is not mystery per se.Vorkosigan saga defies description. It has been called space opera and that's short changing it. I'll quote the wiki for a better description.

"Bujold's approach varies, sometimes crossing genres. All the novels include humor and comedy, sometimes very black and juxtaposed with tragic deaths or losses. She mixes military adventure, political thriller, romance, and the whodunit in various proportions."

The main character Miles Vorkosigan is the son of a powerful political(and military) figure of a planet called Barrayar.Very reminiscent of Russia (and India to a certain extent). Because of the actions of his father's political enemies Miles suffered serious physical disabilities which disqualify him from joining the military. However he belongs to the Vor class -a sort of military aristocracy.Children of that class have been brought up believing that joining the military is the ultimate. However he hustles and manipulates and ultimately makes a place for himself in the hierarchy.

Start with The Warrior's Apprentice. The earlier books are about Miles' parents and how they met during a war.

Here are some more quotes

"I know my limits."
"No one knows their limits till they've gone beyond them."

"Never do yourself, what you can con professionals into doing for you."

Miles coaxing Ky Tung to agree to an almost suicidal mission.

"Think of the glory. Think of your reputation. Think how great it'll look on your next resume."

"On my cenotaph, you mean. Nobody will be able to collect enough of my scattered atoms to bury. You going to cover my funeral expenses, son?"

"Splendidly. Banners, dancing girls, and enough beer to float your coffin to Valhalla."

It is better read in the correct order beginning with The Warrior's Apprentice. The two earlier books Shards of Honor and Barrayar are about events which took place before Miles was born. How his parents were on opposite sides during a war, how they eventually came together, the accident leading to Miles' disability. Barrayar especially deals with the political events of that time and how Aral ended up being Regent to the young emperor Gregor.Since Miles' mother Cordelia came from a more technologically superior planet(think America) she had to adjust to the Barrayaran society and customs which she found ridiculous. You can go back to them after The Warrior's Apprentice. You get a better picture of Miles parents and the events leading to his birth. And you can ignore Ethan of Athos since Miles is not in it.

Memory is my favorite book in the series. However Miles' trauma is better appreciated if you understand the sacrifices he made and the maneuvering he did to be a part of the military. He was an Impsec agent a sort of secret service agent for the empire. To see the work of a decade being blown away and that too by his own actions was highly traumatic for Miles.

Its a trilogy and only recommended for 18+!

Summary for the first novel in the series: The Arrangement

Nothing will stop the Bratva mob boss from taking back what's his, and once he has her, he'll do anything to keep her...

Viviana "Vine" Carducci's and Anton Avdonin's marriage was decided more than two decades ago. The deal between leading mafia families has more on the line than anyone knew, even if the Bratva and Cosa Nostra shouldn't mix. When Vine's family is murdered and she's left with nothing more than her grief to survive the mob world alone, she believes the arrangement won't see the light of day.

Anton can't allow the one woman he was supposed to love get away. At the possibility of her death, he steps in to save her with guns blazing, knowing exactly what it might cost him: everything. But it's been nearly a decade since their last meeting, and he can't help but wonder if the woman he took back is the same girl he fell for all those years before.

Protected and loved, Vine is unable to forget their shared moments a lifetime ago, or the future she knows they're owed. When an old flame of Anton's shows up to rip the veil off the carefully constructed secrets he'd been hiding, she learns that nothing about her life is as it seems. But, that's nothing compared to the bomb about to blow. Can Vine see beyond the pain and blood to take what she always wanted? And just how far will the mob prince go to keep her safe?

In a world where violence, deceit, and greed reign, your life is not your own, and sometimes, love has to be arranged.

Ooh, ooh, Divergent. 😃

I have read them again and again.

And Harry Potter? Duh. 😆

You know after divergent, I read this book called 'Delirium' by Lauren Oliver. It's based on a time when love is considered as a disease and so people were treated at the age of 18 to prevent this. Though the protagonist's mother was in love and so she was tortured. And then the girl falls in love too.

It's a good read. Do try. 😉

Hurt. Romantic. Love. What else could I ask for? 😆

It seems like a perfect book.
I will give it a try.

And I'm 19. So don't worry. 😛

Thanks for sharing the summary.
