Ari, I don't think anybody has mentioned The Deliberate Sinner by Bhaavna Arora. It is not engineering. Look up the book, I heard about it just a few mins ago. I might read it some time soon or I might change my mind after talking to a few people who have already read the book. I thought I should mention it because this is a non-engineering based book.

I read one by Indu sundarsen a long time back, don't remember the name but it was about Shah Jahan's daughter; nice read.
I have a Ravi Subramanian book but haven't read it yet.
Heard about Ashwin Sanghi... Some chanakya book...

A book that I found interesting when searching was

A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry
"Why did I dislike him so much, she asked herself? Where humans were concerned, the only emotion that made sense was wonder, at their ability to endure; and sorrow, for the hopelessness of it all."
"Flirting with madness was one thing; when madness started flirting back, it was time to call the whole thing off."

"After all, our lives are but a sequence of accidents - a clanking chain of chance events. A string of choices, casual or deliberate, which add up to that one big calamity we call life."

"What an unreliable thing is time--when I want it to fly, the hours stick to me like glue. And what a changeable thing, too. Time is the twine to tie our lives into parcels of years and months. Or a rubber band stretched to suit our fancy. Time can be the pretty ribbon in a little girl's hair. Or the lines in your face, stealing your youthful colour and your hair. ... But in the end, time is a noose around the neck, strangling slowly."

"...God is a giant quiltmaker. With an infinite variety of designs. And the quilt is grown so big and confusing, the pattern is impossible to see, the squares and diamonds and triangles don't fit well together anymore, it's all become meaningless. So He has abandoned it."

Whoa! Definitely going on my reading list! Thanks for sharing the quotes! (More effective than sharing the synopsis would have been. )😳
