That author reminded me that I started reading his Can Love Happen Twice and left it midway, which is so unlike me. I too had this question in my mind for a very long time that why so many books on engineering and failed love stories??? Being an engineer myself, I have developed this thing in my mind that I might end up writing the same stuff again at some time. Imagination of Indian authors is restricted to love stories, I feel. There are so many of them.
The books like The Immortals of Meluha give me some ray of hope in this engineering stung world. Amish Tripathi did a good job.

And tbh I see myself writing something on the same line few years from now, but mine would have a successful love story in it.😆
ps suggest me some good books by Indian writers.

Try Arundhati Roy..she's fabulous writer. And will recommend Amitabh Ghosh & Amish Tripathi's Shiva trilogy too if you are interested in mythology. Also read Rashmi Singh's Love's journey. It's amazing.. Durjay Dutta is worst. After few chapters of "When only love remains" I got bored..though it had nothing to do with engineering and failed love but it was too filmy to relate with.

Arundhati Roy... another author who's been on my to-read list forever. I've been meaning to read God of Small Things forever.

My friend told me TGOST is depressing. It's been on my to-read list forever too.

Hi Everyone:
Just wanted to mention about my book - "Can I Have A Chocolate Milkshake?" based on my own true story. It went live in October 2015. The book gives a fictional account of my (at the cost of immodesty) inspiring journey right from the National Defence Academy (NDA) days, to IMA, to the Army, to a tumultuous accident, to losing my right arm, having to leave the Army, and how I then went on to join ISB and IIM Ahmedabad. That's the fighter spirit that the NDA ingrains into the minds - the spirit of never giving up and belief in - "It's all in the mind".

The primary theme of the book is of course "Inspirational;" the other elements are Action, Humor,Tragedy and (ahem!) Romance. It's primarily light-hearted and not preachy at all (just the way things happened) in real time.

It's available in many countries and on all platforms (paperback, ebook), links are available on my website - www.rajatmishra.co.in . Do share your review comments as well, I'm sure you'll enjoy reading it.

I still don't get why many like/love CB's books. I've read 4 of his books now and all I could say is they're not at all good. :/ The only book I liked was YDAMN of Ravinder Singh and Malgudi Days. As you suggested I've to try I romantic I hope there's no engineering thing in that. 😆

Sudha Murthy!
I like her, she's got some interesting stories up her sleeves and her writing style is clear, concise and simple.
She's good :))

Oh yes, Sudha Murthy writes well, too. Very simple writing style. I've read a couple of books (they had short stories), and they're nice, simple, heart-warming (or sometimes heart-breaking) stories of everyday life.
