Shah Rukh dropped by Yash Raj, replaced by Ranbir

Shah Rukh Khan was dropped from Shimit Amin's next film after producer Aditya Chopra decided to start up his own project.

King Khan was expected to reprise his duet with Chak De India director Amin, but Yash Raj Films head Aditya hastily started work on his film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which meant it would have been impossible for Shah Rukh to work on both.

Initially, Shah Rukh was to spend the summer shooting for Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan, but this was changed to the winter as Aditya wanted a Shah Rukh and Yash Raj release this year. Karan was happy to postpone shooting of his film until year-end but wasn't prepared to wait any further. This meant that the planned Amin project had to, either be moved to mid-2009 or, begin shooting without Shah Rukh. The latter was the viable solution hence Shah Rukh was dropped and Ranbir Kapoor signed in his place.

Ranbir has checked out his new look, which includes him wearing a turban, the result, according to insiders, was spectacular. "Even Shimit is now convinced that Kapoor is the right choice to play the part," reveals a source.

that means ranbir was chosen only cuz shahrukh could not give them time for only one movie. aditya wanted srk for his that is why shimit had to settle with ranbir cuz infront of adi he doesn't have say. 😆
