Saif carrying olympic torch = hypocrisy?

I remember Saif Ali Khan wearing a Tshirt that said "Free Tibet" a few months ago. I was wondering then if he even supports what he wears.

Then I was watching Indian news this afternoon and they said that along with Aamir Khan, Saif is partaking in olympic rally.

I mean what happened to that great big statement he made by wearing that Tshirt. What a hypocrite... He should snap out of the teenybopper love and then think about real issues, he is indirectly supporting the fascist Chinese regime and the violence in Tibet.. Does he not have a conscience?

I hate it when people take serious issues/causes as something "cool" and just to make a fashion statement.

It is just like those Bollywood people who wear Che Guevara T-Shirts, I bet they do not even know anything about him.

Saif's comment

""I will definitely be taking part in the relay. Why shouldn't I? My government has not made any adverse statement against China and my stance is that of my government."
"

What? Is he implying he doesn't have a mind of his own, he would blindly support his government?

Has he lost the ability to think for himself?

At least the Hollywood celebrities aren't afraid to slam their own government when they think they're not right.

I am 50:50 on this issue... The Tibetan issue has been going on for ages and yes thy found the Olympics as the perfect platform, sure it is arousing awareness but for me Olympics - sports should be disocciated with politics - thats is how it has been for the most part and that is how it should be 😃

And just in case you blast me off I do know about the Tibetans state... 😳

As for Saif wearing a T-shirt, well if he did that just for fashion - then he is shallow. But if he did it suppoting the cause, then it is praiseworthy, he is generating attention.

As for his choice to take the torch - it is his decision solely. He is free to choose.

Oh if Saif and Aamir really did care about the spirit of Olympics then they would have even more reasons to boycott the rally..i am sorry but Olympics isn't about the sports anymore, its about politics, bribery, corruption behind it.. The Olympics is not owned by a cross between the UN and the Justice League of Superheros..its owned by private entity as the means to make $$$$..Supporting Beijing Olympics means supporting the regime..

And just in case you blast me off I do know about the Tibetans state... 😳
Umm you didn't say anything of the sort mentioned in my second post..you didn't call me jealous or randomly started attacking my favorites or personally attacked me with sms lingo.. so like that little retort wasn't actually needed.. you stated your reasons and i am fine with that😳

Well the reasons he cited for being a part of the rally to me says that he knows nothing about the Tibetan cause. The Tshirt as i suspected was worn by him to reinstate that little image he wants to create of himself as some sort of a desi "rockstar" .. because if he was aware of what is happening in Tibet and he really cared about the human rights abuse, he would not make an ignorant statement like "my government ain't doing nothing so i won't either"

As for his choice to take the torch - it is his decision solely. He is free to choose.
Yes everyone's free to choose.. people are free to endorse beauty brands that test on animals, people are free to support whaling, people are free to wear fur for fashion.. that doesn't mean what they're doing is right or ethical.. and Saif could partake in the rally, thats not the problem..he never appeared as the sharpest tool in the shade anyway.. but to wear a T-shirt that says "Free Tibet" and then carry the torch to me is hypocritical..and yes people could harp on about how China doesn't "own" Olympics.. but the revenue generated from the Olympics will be used to fund the fascist government..

Also several government around the world (mainly India), to please the Chinese government (for trade relations) are using brutal force on Tibetan protesters.. anyone with a conscience should not be a part of it.. many internation big names have spoken against it.. i suppose it only shows that Bollywood celebs are selfish and have no mind of their own.. no wonder anyone who dares to think outside the box are seen as outsiders

Well I understand the cause of Tibet. Their issues with China. But it would be wrong for India to just bycott the Olympics based on this issue. The Tibetians did well and with their protest have brought this issue to the front again and countries are begining to sit up and take notice. That aside - India also has to keep a good political stance with China...its beneficial to both. By hosting the Tibetians in India for so many years I think our stance on Tibet is pretty obvious. Now coming to the filmstars carrying the torch...as far as I know they are not representing themselves but their country. And when the country summons you to carry the torch in its honor - you must not refuse! It would be nice to see Saif wear the Free Tibet tshirt as he ran though :)
