Sallu says hello to Katrina!

Chetan Bhagat is on a high.
First his novels Five Point Someone and One Night @ the Call Centre became runaway successes amongst the youth and then they were taken up by Bollywood filmmakers. And now, the fact that Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif star opposite each other in Hello, based on One Night, is the icing on the cake for him. "Literature is coming alive," he says.
"Nobody has seen what the movie looks like till now and this scene (the picture above) is where it begins and ends. Salman plays himself in the film an actor who is touring various places as a part of a concert series and Katrina plays the goddess who narrates the story to him," says Chetan, adding, "In the book, this entire episode happens in a train but in the movie we've changed that. Director Atul Agnihotri and I thought that we'd be under-utilising Salman if we shot him in a train. We wanted to make his appearance larger than life and hence we changed the train sequence to a helipad and lounge scene. In the film, due to technical problems Salman is delayed from flying to his next concert and while waiting in the lounge, he meets Katrina. It is in this scene she tells him that she'll tell him a story only if he agrees to make a film on it. Shot at Karjat, this scene was filmed over a five-six days schedule. Since the scene is set at night, the two actors stayed up all these days to complete their scenes."
And what were Kat and Sallu's reactions? "Katrina had read the book and she told me that she enjoyed reading it and shooting for the film too. As far as Salman is concerned, I get a lot of respect from him, as his father is also a writer and Salman himself is a painter. He understands creativity and all that stems from it. And he is a part of Atul's family and is also supportive of all his endeavours," says Chetan.
And how is their chemistry onscreen? "It isn't what one would call a romantic pairing but I'd say that the two share a natural chemistry. Katrina has moved into the bigger league of Bollywood now and she understands how films are made," he answers.
