The two major releases of the coming Friday are going to be Rohit Jugraj's SUPER STAR and Planman Motion Pictures' MITHYA. Of the two, the Kunal Khemu-Tulip Joshi starrer SUPER STAR is expected to have a better initial outcome than the Rajat Kapoor (BHEJA FRY) directed Naseer, Neha and Ranvir starrer, MITHYA. However, both the new releases are not expected to cut much ice at the ticket window.

Last Friday's only major release was Oracle Entertainment's RAMA RAMA KYA HAI DRAMAAA. Directed by Chandrakant Singh and featuring Rati Agnihotri, Anupam Kher, Neha Dhupia, Amrita Arora, Aashish Chaudhary and Rajpal Yadav, the film was off to a poor start across India, including the small centres. Trade predicts that the film has bleak chances at the ticket window.

Rohit Shetty's SUNDAY seems to have reaped the benefits of the Republic day during its first weekend. The collections are quite decent in Bombay and Delhi city, as we had predicted in our last column. The Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan and Ayesha Takia starrer may just about pull through to safety, but only in Bombay circuit. Checking out the numbers, SUNDAY collected 2.45 crores from Bombay, 55.25 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.45 lakhs from Himmatnagar, 6.70 lakhs from Rajkot, 3.15 lakhs from Jamnagar, 2.65 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 2.25 lakhs from Gandhidham, 1.30 lakhs from Adipur, 1.95

lakhs from Solapur, 6.20 lakhs from Nasik, 1.30 crore from Delhi, 16.10 lakhs from Noida, 9.20 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 20.15 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.20 lakhs from Agra, 1.60 lakhs from Bareilly, 2.80 lakhs from Aligarh, 12.70 lakhs from Gurgaon, 4.60 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.65 lakhs from Panipat, 16.10 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.35 lakhs from Jabalpur, 2.15 lakhs from Amravati, 1.85 lakh from Akola, 3 lakhs from Raipur, 1.20 lakhs from Wardha, 1.70 lakhs from Chandrapur, 13.50 lakhs from Indore, 1.15 lakhs from Sehore, 24 lakhs from Jaipur, 1.60 lakhs from Bikaner, 1.30 lakhs from Guwahati and 34 lakhs from Hyderabad. In its first week SUNDAY has netted a below average 13 crores from India. However, SUNDAY has performed better in the UK (given the cast) with $303,143.

Nagesh-Shreyas's BOMBAY TO BANGKOK faces a horrific fall, in just its second week. The film netted a paltry 15 lakhs for a two week all India total of 1.75 crores. BOMBAY TO BANGKOK is a supreme disaster.

Coming to the Santoshi-Devgan project, HALLA BOL, the movie is also faring quite poorly. The week saw 8.50 lakhs from Bombay, 1.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.60 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.10 lakhs from Noida, 4.25 lakhs from Lucknow, and 1 lakh from Agra. Adding another 45 lakhs, HALLA BOL has netted a poor 14.50 crores in three weeks from India. The Pankaj Kapur, Ajay Devgan and Vidya Balan starrer is flop in India and has also be rejected in the UK grossing a poor $159,118 so far.

TAARE ZAMEEN PARMeanwhile last year's TAARE ZAMEEN PAR continues its steady run, though it had a pronounced fall for the first time. Aamir Khan's directorial debut venture collected 52.75 lakhs from Bombay, 11.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.65 lakhs from Rajkot, 1.25 lakhs from Jamnagar, 1.70 lakhs from Nasik, 38.10 lakhs from Delhi city, 4.15 lakhs from Noida, 2.10 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.60 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.20 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.05 lakhs from Faridabad, 8 lakhs from Nagpur, 1 lakh from Amravati, 3.50 lakhs from Indore, 3.35 lakhs from Jaipur, 1.50 lakhs from Aurangabad and 14 lakhs from Hyderabad. With another 3.50 crores during its latest outing, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR has netted an impressive 55 crores in six weeks from India. The Darsheel, Aamir and Tisca starrer is now a blockbuster hit in most major circuits of India. TAARE ZAMEEN PAR has done very well in the US, grossing $1,223,869 but has under-performed in the UK with a gross of $675,177. But given the overall collections in the Overseas circuit, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR is a hit there.

In the end, let us once again checkout Anees Bazmee's WELCOME. The film takes a huge fall in its sixth week. The Firoz Nadiadwala produced venture collected 17 lakhs from Bombay, 4.70 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 6.70 lakhs from Delhi city, 1 lakh each from Noida and Ghaziabad, 2.80 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.10 lakhs from Nagpur, 2 lakhs from Jaipur, 1.55 lakhs from Aurangabad and 3 lakhs from Hyderabad. Adding another 75 lakhs WELCOME has netted around 73.25 crores in six weeks from India. The Feroze Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer is already a blockbuster hit in India. WELCOME is also a superhit in the Overseas, grossing $1,790,460 in the UK, while the unofficial US numbers are said to be over $ 1 million, though it has not been validated independently.
