h Aamir Khan Actor Aamir Khan, who had already turned producer with Lagaan, has now expanded his repertoire by turning director with Taare Zameen Par. And next year promises to be an even more important one for this Khan. He has bought the rights of Shekhar Kapur's Time Machine, and is on the look-out for a director who can do justice to the script that has comic interludes. Apart from that, he will be seen in the Hindi adaptation of the Tamil film Ghajini to be directed by A R Murugadoss. The original version of the film was inspired by Memento. Khan, who has vehemently been against remakes, claims that film Ghajini is not a remake of Memento, and even says that he dislikes the film and cannot understand the story. He was also supposed to be part of Mani Ratnam's Lajjo and was to produce Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na where he was going to launch his nephew Imraan, but there is no news on those projects right now. There are also talks of him producing a film to be scripted and directed by his wife Kiran Rao. He's also likely to be in the news next year as Halla Bol opens -- The film is reportedly based on the Aamir-Narendra Modi feud. And who knows, while juggling all these projects, he might finally agree to get his statue done at Madame Tussauds! This year was not a great one for Ajay Devgan. Cash and Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag were major disasters. But next year promises to be a fabulous one with many firsts. In 2008, Devgan will make his debut as director with U, Me Aur Hum co-starring wife Kajol. This is likely to be one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year. Then there's Halla Bol, marking the comeback of director Rajkumar Santoshi and the director's other two films as well - London Dreams and Ramayana. The latter will see him play Lord Ram, possibly the role he will come to be known by, and one which is sure to quadruple his fan following. He will also be seen in Golmaal Returns, and is also doing Anees Bazmi's Naam. His list of releases for 2008 runs into several lines. First on is Warner Brothers' first Bollywood film Made In China, produced by the Sippys and directed by Nikhil Advani. The film, which will see Kumar opposite Deepika Padukone, is reportedly the first ever to be shot in China. Kumar, who hasn't done a full-on action film in several years, is undergoing training in the martial art form called Wushu for the film. Kumar also has two Yash Raj films - one, already on floors is Tashan, directed by Victor Acharya, who penned Dhoom and Dhoom2; and Shaad Ali's Tevar. He will also be doing Singh is King, for which he has trained under Tom Cruise's action director Danny. The film is produced by Vipul Shah and directed by Anees Bazmi. Interestingly, Kumar has a lot of experimental roles up his sleeve as well, like the thriller Eight by Ten directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The other films in his line-up include Hera Pheri 4 and Nagesh Kukunoor's Tasveer. He is also reportedly doing producer Bunty Behl's film starring Salma Hayek and Irrfan Khan. He will also be seen in Sajid Nadiadwala's next called Kambhakt Ishq, that is said to have its share of an international cast. | ||
Saif Ali Khan This actor, who has surprised audiences with his talent and range over the past few years, is all set to turn producer next year. His first film will be Agent Vinod, inspired by the Rajshris' thriller Agent Vinod in 1977, and will be directed by Sriram Raghavan. He's also doing Yash Raj's first out and out animation film Roadside Romeo. Then there's Race, directed by Abbas Mustan. He will also be seen in Tashan with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Anil Kapoor, a role for which he especially grew a moustache. He is also reportedly doing Karan Johar's next project to be directed by Tarun Mansukhani and also Kunal Kohli's next. What next? Perhaps, the director's chair? She's the nation's favourite, and her fans have an unwavering loyalty that is not affected by the number of films she does, or how long a hiatus she takes. In 2008, Kajol will be seen with hubby Ajay Devgan in their home production U, Me Aur Hum. She will also be seen in Tashan. And after eons, the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol magical pairing will be seen together in Karan Johar's My Name is Khan. |
