The actor cited date problems but sources say he didn't want to be a side show

As reported 'It's not all in the family' (HiTLIST, December 3), Akshay Kumar will not be a part of The Unforgettable tour in 2008.

Akki was to be a part of the entourage with Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh, Shiamak Davar along with the main draw the Bachchans (Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya) for the tour.

A source close to Akshay says, "Wizcraft (producers) kept changing the dates of the tour. Though Akshay has deep respect for Amitabh Bachchan, and wanted to be part of the show, he couldn't because of date problems.

Next year, he's starting Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakht Ishq, PPC's Eight By Ten, Vipul Shah's Singh Is Kinng and Rohan Sippy's From Chandni Chowk To China Gate."

Real reason

The source reveals, "People want to see a solo Akshay Kumar show in the UK, USA and Canada. After Namastey London, Heyy Babyy! and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Akki's considering his own world tour and that's also why he turned the show down. Hrithik Roshan also dropped out for the same reason."

There was also a buzz that Akshay demanded $250,000 (approx Rs 1 crore) per show and that became the issue.

Sabbas Joseph of Wizcraft says, "There was never a money issue with Akshay. It was basically a date problem. We couldn't get Akshay's dates. The show is in July and Akshay wasn't available then." Amitabh adds, "Yes, Akshay Kumar has opted out of the world tour due to date problems."
