Amrita Rao in between Shahid and Kareena?

There is a twist in the Shahid Kapur-Kareena Kapoor story. Amrita Rao, our sources reveal, is party to the couple's break-up. Kareena had begun to suspect Shahid's proximity with Amrita when he was shooting with her for Sooraj Barjatya's Vivaah.

A reliable source tells us, "The seeds of doubt were sown in Kareena's mind when she paid a surprise visit on the sets of Sooraj Barjatya's Vivaah. She saw Amrita coming out of Shahid's trailer van and felt that something was wrong. Her doubts were confirmed when Amrita shifted her residence closer to Shahid's. There was friction in the relationship since then, but both chose not to go public about it."

The latest on the ex-lovers is that they had a big showdown in Shabina Khan's residence on Monday evening. According to our khabroo, "Both Shahid and Kareena went to Shabina's house and fought like crazy. The bone of contention was Shahid's closeness to Amrita and Kareena's recent proximity with Saif."

Moreover, Kareena and Saif have remained least concerned about the media or public glare. Of late, they have become very cool about PDA (public display of affection). A few days ago, Kareena, Saif, Amrita Arora and Dino (Morea) were seen dining at a five-star suburban restaurant. At the restaurant, Kareena looked very tense, and Saif was seen consoling her. Their friends understood their need for privacy and left them alone. Not so long ago, Saif even went to pick up Kareena from the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa sets.

Despite repeated attempts, Amrita Rao remained unavailable for comment.


The plane truth

The latest on Saif and Kareena is that they left for Goa with Amrita Arora (who is Kareena's best friend) and her boyfriend Usman Afzal last week, and behaved quite intimately on the flight. While Kareena denies it, our reliable source tells us, "Kareena and Saif were seated in the executive class. Everybody kept looking at them but both remained oblivious of the prying eyes. They were enjoying each other's company. Both of them were not shy of showing their affection for each other."

A source close to Kareena says, "Saif even gifted a new high-end mobile phone to Kareena in Goa. Her old mobile phone had a problem and used to often get disconnected during conversations. Saif's gift is a red coloured E-90 communicator."

Kareena simply says, "If you are a star, there are bound to be stories and speculations about you. I have no problems on that as long as somebody is not maligning me."

We request her to put an end to the rumours, but she says that she and Shahid have taken a call and that they won't divulge what is happening in their personal lives. "We have made it a rule. And people should respect our privacy," she insists.

We tell her that she has changed. When she had started dating Shahid, she was open about it. "That's a recent decision which I have taken in my life. I won't talk about my personal life," she says, and adds, "Shahid too has taken this decision."

On the work front, Kareena's next release is the much awaited Jab We Met with Shahid. Lastly, she clarifies that she still hasn't signed the female lead role in South director Shankar's sci-fi film Robot (opposite SRK), or Saif's debut production to be directed by Sriram Raghavan as well. About the Boney Kapoor film with Shahid, she says that she has no clue to why it is not releasing. "I haven't heard from Boney and Satish Kaushik (director) on that for nearly two years," she signs off.
