If you thought the hot bods always ate right, steering clear of sinful food, think again
The 'you are what you eat' theory definitely holds good for our screen idols, for most of them look the way they do because of their carefully chalked out diets. In an industry where image rules, eating right almost becomes part of the job.

Actress Divya Dutta, who's lost about seven kilos in the last few months, has been following Madhuri Dixit's advice. "Initially, the Punjabi in me would eat whatever I fancied. But now I have stopped eating parathas for breakfast. If I'm very tempted, I take a bite. Breakfast comprises egg whites, brown bread, idlis at times, and milk. I have a glass of juice around noon and half a chapati, oil-free sabji and raita for lunch. I make it a point to have my dinner before eight even when I'm shooting," says Divya.

But if you thought the hot bods always ate right, steering clear of sinful food, think again. Riya Sen, for instance, was addicted to chocolates till she went through a detox programme. Even model Bunty Garewal drinks 20 cups of tea a day. Most, like actress Kim Sharma, admit they indulge in bingeing once in a while, sticking to a strict diet round the year. "I eat as healthy as I can. But sometimes I binge. My breakfast consists of toast with eggs and a glass of milk. Lunch would mostly be chicken, dal, roti and yoghurt. I love rice, but avoid it in the afternoon since it makes me drowsy. I avoid carbs for dinner and eat either chicken or fish," she says. Bollywood is also where fad diets find the maximum takers. From the Atkins diet, to the Pritkins diet, which is a low-fat , veggie diet, stars are willing to try everything. But sometimes they're also required to gain weight for specific roles. Abhishek Bachchan, for instance, was asked to put on weight for Guru, for which he had to eat fattening sweets and turn his diet regimen upside down. To lose those kilos in a short span, most resort to crash dieting, though few will admit to it.

Proving that losing weight is no longer the prerogative of women alone is Shayan Munshi who follows a book called Eat Right for Your Type by Dr A'Damo . The book advises people to eat according to their blood groups. "My blood group is B+, which means I need to follow a low carb, high protein diet. I eat four proper meals - oats and milk in the morning; rice, dal and mutton in the afternoon; toast and eggs with a protein shake in the evening and fish (mostly pomfret ) with a sabji at night," he says.
