Shilpa Shetty inclined towards the Khans?
During the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend in Yorkshire earlier this month, Bollywood star and Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty celebrated her 32nd birthday.
And that celebration was proof enough as to show which Bollywood camp Shilpa is inclined towards amidst speculation that Bollywood is divided into two camps: the Bachchans – headed Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan by and the Khans – headed by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan .
During a surprise event organised by IIFA to celebrate Shilpa's birthday, a party was organised at the Victoria Quarters, which was attended by several film personalities, the guest list being an interesting one.
Considering during the day she had inaugurated the IIFA Celebrity Cricket Match along with brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan at the Headingley stadium she would definitely call Big B or at least somebody from his camp.
But learning from the Big B, Shilpa cleared her preferences by inviting some special people for her birthday party.
Participation in her birthday celebrations was by invitation only and the media was not invited for the bash.
To name a few biggies on the guest list, Salman Khan , Karan Johar , SRK were all present and nobody by the Bachchan surname was invited.
Shilpa is very close to Salman and this is a well known fact especially since the time he helped her during the Praful Sarees case.
Shilpa on her part has tried to be a true friend whenever Salman needed her.
But Shilpa herself was so busy that she had little time for the 'private' party in the evening and made a brief 'guest appearance', minutes before midnight.
The party was supposed to be a private event for Shilpa to celebrate her birthday in the company of other celebrities from the film fraternity and other invited guests.
But it turned out to be almost a public affair with over 250 guests turning up.
Celebrities like Preity Zinta , Bobby Deol , Upen Patel , Jay Sean did not stay long when they realised that the private birthday party had taken on a rather different colour. Quite a few stars were also upset at the way they were being mobbed and hunted for pictures and autographs.
One visibly harassed celebrity said: "We were told that this was a private party. We are happy to interact with the media and others, but this is not what we had expected. One man kept hugging and kissing me. It was all so disappointing".
The party started at around 10 pm and Shilpa made a brief appearance 10 minutes before midnight accompanied by her parents. The Celebrity Big Brother winner, who was presented with a necklace by a sponsor, cut a three-storey cake and left the scene.
By that time many of the disappointed celebrities had already returned to their hotels.
