Gauahar Khan speaks candidly on miscarriage, criticises Suniel Shetty’s C-section remarks

Gauahar Khan, actress and new mother, recently launched her YouTube podcast, MaaaNoranjan, where she shares personal and emotional stories about motherhood and parenting. In the debut episode, she opened up about a miscarriage she experienced before giving birth to her son Zehaan. Alongside this, she criticised actor Suniel Shetty for his controversial remarks about C-section deliveries.

The podcast marks Gauahar Khan’s first step into discussing sensitive topics related to pregnancy and parenthood. She revealed, with visible emotion, the pain of losing her baby after almost nine weeks of pregnancy. “It’s impossible to describe that feeling,” she said, emphasizing how difficult the loss was. Gauahar promised to explore this subject more deeply in her future episodes.

Her criticism of Suniel Shetty came after he praised his daughter Athiya Shetty for choosing a natural delivery over a C-section. Gauahar called his comment “misinformed” and “insensitive,” pointing out the many myths surrounding C-sections. “There are so many myths around this topic — that if someone is having a C-section, it’s the easier option. How can there be so much misinformation?” she said. She added that it was problematic for a male celebrity who has never experienced pregnancy to make such remarks.

Gauahar Khan’s stance brings attention to the stigma and misunderstandings faced by many women regarding childbirth choices. She said, “I want to scream at the top of my voice and say, how could you say that? Like, how?”

Currently pregnant with her second child, Gauahar and her husband, music composer Zaid Darbar, shared the news earlier this year with heartfelt gratitude. Their Instagram post read, “Bismillah!! Need your prayers and love. Make the world dance by spreading love #GazaBaby2 #allahummabaarikfiihi.”
