Actor Kangana Ranaut comes clean on her Bollywood ambitions, dream man and Aditya Panscholi
You've been touted as the most promising newcomer.
It's good when all the hard work and energy that you have put in your job pays off. It feels nice to win respect and appreciation. It makes you more honest towards your work. I feel on top of the world.
What do you think makes you unique amongst your rivals?
At times, I stand in front of the mirror and ask myself, 'Why are you here?' I am not here to sell my lips, my eyes or make my bucks. I just want to act and be a part of this industry. I don't like fake things. That's why I do not like make-up as well.
What do you have to say about your alleged relationship with Aditya Panscholi?
It has been blown out of proportion.
What kind of a man would you want in your life?
I want somebody tall and handsome as I am very tall myself. He should be good-natured. I don't want to marry someone from the industry. The schedules are so hectic, so who will look after the kids?
What did the crisis in your sister's (she suffered an acid attack) life teach you?
It was a very depressing phase. I felt sad for my sister — a beautiful 22-year-old girl. It was as though I had fallen into a deep, dark well. At 19, I was standing by my parents and availing of the best treatments for my sister.
Her treatment will go on for six more months. At one time, I would ask my parents for pocket money. But now, I am like a son to them. I learnt that life is all about falling down and getting up again.
What should aspirants remember?
They should take care of themselves, eat well, and work out. They should have a back-up option in case stardom doesn't happen. That's why it's important to complete your studies.
What's your role in the musical 'Shaka Laka Boom Boom'?
I am playing Ruhi - the love interest of both the guys (Upen Patel and Bobby Deol) in my life. I play a practical girl who knows her mind and what she wants in life. She cannot be diplomatic. Rather, she's very honest.
