Some here are saying BW is still thriving which I don’t see at all in India or outside of India. But even if let’s see that’s true, it definitely isn’t thriving or watched outside of India anymore. I remember so many people from countries outside of India used to be crazy about BW. My family/relatives were huge fans of BW and would eagerly watch the newly released movies from popular stars like Khans and others every other week, but now no one even knows which new movie of Khans and others is releasing. No one bothers or talks about it anymore.
Heck, I don’t even know the last time I watched an Indian movie. It was probably that Pathan movie and that too I watched after years of not watching an Indian movie and just watched it for the old time nostalgia sake of SRK and because I heard the movie was good. Else, I wouldn’t have watched it despite being fan of SRK. And I know it’s the same with many.
This is not just with BW. It’s the same with Indian tv industry. Indian shows used to be huge in the 90s and up until at least few years before COVID or right until 2020. But now they are crap and the popularity of shows has gone down significantly. The Hindi entertainment industry as whole in India is at all time low atm.
You have industry peeps saying BW is over but nahin bhai BW is thriving according to some here and it is just over for our faves.
This is the reality, read the article below
@TotalBetty
Hollywood took a hit after 2019 because of COVID, like every other industry. But in 2023, things got even worse for them with the writers' strike. That said, they bounced back in a big way last year with massive box office hits like Inside Out 2, Moana 2, Deadpool, Wicked, and Gladiator.
The so-called "woke" movies or political commentaries as they were previously called have always been around. You made a good point about artists being worried about AI replacing them, it's a valid concern for any artist. The letter you mentioned was actually sent to the White House Office of Science and Technology in response to a request for input on AI, specifically to counter OpenAI’s letters. Trump remains whatever you described him to be, according to the Hollywood celebrities mentioned, because fortunately, they still have the freedom of expression, unlike in India.
I’ve not been on for a while, haven’t really watched any bollywood since Dunki lol. Will be watching Sikandar tomorrow so il be active on here again for a little while
Khans deffo bring the ratings
Because the block functionality is fairly good now
it's because indian cinema has become boring! It's the same actors/actresses, same kind of movies, same directors, same news again and again and the same faces. There is just no excitement anymore, there is no freshness or passion in the industry, all people care about is money and superstardom, thats it
Hollywood continues to thrive because there is passion and opportunities, new faces seen all the time, new actors/actresses, new directors, fresh new ideas, the industry is constantly evolving, there is cinema for everyone. Indian cinema is now stuck in this rut and it has no idea how to get out of it
and yes there is nepotism in hollywood, but not at the level at which indian cinema is doing it, hollywood still gives many opportunities to outsiders, even nepokids have to audition in hollywood. But in indian cinema there is an influx of nepokids who have absolutely no acting talent, no training, they are just there because they have no idea what else they can do so they become actors/directors, there is no real passion
I completely agree with you, I'm bored of the same old faces, same type of recycled stories - zero freshness!

If you check reddit you will notice that people posting on BBNG have reduced a lot too, including the engagement on the posts. I think Bollywood has become really boring now. People have no interest in watching Ananya, Sara, Janhvi and Ibrahim onscreen. Sadly, Salman and Ajay are sleepwalking through their films now. None of the songs from Sikandar have clicked with the audience. The hardcore fans are also done with them. Akshay keeps doing one film after another and no one cares. His real comeback will be Bhoot Bangla. King will be bakwas too but SRK will try his best to save it though corporate bookings. Horror universe is what people seem excited for. Bollywood is known for its music but these days all we get are remake of old songs or "chartbusters" only suitable for reels. Last bollywood album I truly loved was Chamkila. Stars that people loved to watched have either retired, taking a break or losing their charm (Salman, Akshay and Ajay). Katrina has retired. People loved to see her with Akshay but Kat won't work with him because he is flopping. Deepika is on a break. Kareena will announce her films when she is done with her holidays. March hasn't even ended but she has alrady been on 3 holidays. Priyanka has been forgotten long ago. Didn't see any excitement from the general public even after her comeback news in Rajamouli film. It will also release in 2027 so it's a long time now. Rashmika and her gnashing teeth performance in every film is making me sick now. Khans should work with actresses of their own age or in the age groups of Katrina and Kareena but they would rather work with 20 year olds who end up looking like their neices. OTT has made people aware of the wonderful content available from all over the world. I'm shocked to see that people on social media and also in my circle are more excited about Adolescence than Salman's Sikandar. Love and War looks like a flop to be honest. Ramayana will be a huge blockbuster. Sorry for the long rant.
How many Holidays Kareena goes every year? never seen something like this, she always in holidays
