The creaking chair at the end could have two meanings:

Jug uses the chair (which may always creak) as a helping tool in the therapy.

Jug really became a bit 'too' fond of Kaira.

So, it is up to the viewer to interpret that

As for Alia: I never read about another actress Gauri Shinde would have had in mind.

To me, Alia was perfect...an adult woman with a serious profession but totally insecure on an emotional level and quite ambiguous in her love-relations (also in the ones with her family). She emanated what she really was: an imature woman, still quite childlike, having to learn to not lie to herself to fit into a certain image...

Alia should have learned from that movie...she did not...missed opportunity, I would say.

Alia looks underage teenager to be playing a grown woman. That role deserved a grown woman who actually understand the depth of what the character is going through. Alia said she never went through experience like that with mental health and it showed. With highway she had the director and male lead actor helping her act her part. But in this film, there is no feelings or connections with her at all. I did not feel for her character at all. She was the worst choice for this role that I stopped watching her movies after this movie. The way alia acts is annoying. So many actresses could've done this role way better than alia.

when I was watching the roundtable, shefali shah was asked to talk about darlings the movie she did with alia and she said "Sorry can I talk about delhi crime instead" I have not seen darlings movie or delhi crime but I did not blame shefali for avoiding to talk about alia movie. lol I would've been annoyed too.

Cast again, we can remade the film with better cast.

I thought too. Especially after I heard the role was originally written for Kat, I understood the disconnect. Not that Katrina is that good of an actor but feel like Kriti of today or PC from her dostana time would've killed the role.

Also after watching Ananya Pandey in Kho Gaye hum Kahan feels like she would suit these kinda of role better.

Alia in DZ felt no different from Alia in Kapoor and sons.
