What irked me the most in Ghajjini was she never got to know ''he is the guy". I mean atleast one look at him....and see his face.

I’m watching Turkish show called Bambaska Biri right now and the way the story was set up from the very first episode I knew it won’t have a happy ending unless they turn it into a fairy tale which won’t be fair to the audience or characters. I don’t know how I will feel about it once I get there but I’m so invested in the characters I probably will be sad but I don’t think I would hate it completely maybe because I’m already expecting it and prepared for it but when I was younger I hated such ending. Aman from KHNH comes to mind I remember how devastated I was as a teen when I saw the movie but now when I rewatch it I feel like it’s the appropriate ending and I still feel sad but it’s not the same as when I was younger. Another movie which had a sad ending that pissed me off so much cause I don’t think they built it up the idea of the lead male character dying is A2 and I have never seen it again. More anything else that made me angry I wasn’t sad or felt bad for the guy I was just angry 😂

A friend (whom I don't consider my friend anymore) suggested this drama and I couldn't tolerate it

The only thing I wanted from it was death of banshee who kept screaming in every episode, thankfully, I didn't watch many just read synopsis to find out what is happening

It depends, if the story warrants it then it's fine, but sad ending or shocking twist just for the sake of it then naa

Just like sex scenes or sick scenes or violence just for the sake of it is smiley11

I feel they do it just to prove their ability to push it, and show off to their peers more than the layman audience

But I digress

Coming to the topic, sad endings in a movie bothers me less than TV dramas... I guess bcz we watch at home every day or week waiting for it and get more emotionally invested.

Kamalhaasan recently claimed (after the director’s death) that the Sadma ending was his idea. The original ending planned by the director was she getting cured ( I would like to know how can someone get cured overnight like that that too with traditional medicine) and just getting on the train and leaving with her parents

He suggested him coming running for her and all that failed attempt to make her recognize him and becoming crazy at the end

On side note nobody can cry like Kamalhaasan, it’s just gut wrenching to watch him cry

And then there are movies which has bittersweet endings. They stay with you for the longest time.

I can never get over the ending of La La Land. That last scene at Seb’s with both of them looking at each other with the piano playing in the background breaks my heart every single time.smiley28

Yeah, my problem is more with the way they choose to portray certain concepts just for The shock value. Shock value seems to matter to them the most, either death scenes or sensitive scenes You can expect them to drag It with all gruesome details that are not strictly necessary .
