Manu had been "ill" for 25 years...from the moment she decided to bash her homeland although knowing that she had said a lie...that never left her feeling and thinking, she just suppressed it...but the soul would react...it always react...it's the human core.

So, the border wasn't the 'real' issue...that's why the movie is far deeper than it seems...

I think that none of SRK's movies from PBDHH on has only one layer... Zero has five I noticed...

I thought we were watching a fictional movie, not doing research on how a tumor is formed.smiley36

SRK spoke about Vicky's scene where he was beaten up by goons but it wasn't in the movie, the only "action" part in which Vicky was involved was when he was hitting Gulati

Looks like the scene was edited

Tapsee in an interview told that none of her scenes had been edited which made me happy smiley1

Can I just say how underrated the scene was when Geetu calls Hardy a namuna and starts laughing at him, and so does the entire class, but but but, instead of watching pathetic display of ‘machoism’ and ego-maniac response, we see Hardy’s face dropping and he silently goes back to his seat.

In the age of nonsense ‘chad’ Kabir Singh or Ranvijay culture, I am glad to see this refreshing scene where the hero doesn’t beat up or act on his anger. smiley32 A true gentleman indeed. smiley40This used to be common back in 90s or 2000s movies like Billu Barbar, we’ve gone backwards in this aspect in last few years I believe. Entire Bajrangi Bhaijaan was on the concept of a nice decent man accepting on-yo-face insults in the most humble and non-violent way possible. Glad to see this back after a long time. smiley41

Namoona word was triggering for Hardy because he was called Namoona in his hometown. Reason was explained in his backstory. Thats why he went in shock reaction upon hearing Namoona and everyone laughing at him with that word being repeated. He was not angry but embarrassed kinda as it reminded him of that previous incident in his hometown. That's the reason Mannu stood up for him as she understood he had gone into shock.

Aahhhh...that's what I love, love, love about a movie discussion...the 'small' observations smiley27

I know that ShahRukh generally invents a story around his character with everything he gets to know through the script...he also touches the things on set when they belong to the character's life...it's a very unique thing to become the character as still being ShahRukh...it's like giving home to the character the time of the shooting...and if the character has traits of himself and it is a continuing shooting schedule, he may very well 'keep in character'...sort of.

When watching a movie that keeps with me long after the watching, I tend to make a story out of the movie plot giving 'life' to the main persons and their motivations for the way they act...

Okay so I have been saying I wanted "more" of SRK, I figured out "Why"

You see SRK is not the central character in this movie, it is Manu. He is doing everything for her, she has family, she has reasons, she is the one who called him, the movie starts with her and ends with her death

It was her story through and through, all other characters were just a part of her story

It reminds me of a discussion I once had about SRK where one said that SRK would never let a woman be the main character in a movie...

Already the song Lutt Putt Gaya told me that she will be the leading lady in the sense of "leading" ...

However, the movie gives a balance because SRK is leading during the journey (his position of expertise).
