yeah when srk said 'unrequited love is best feeling in the world' it doesn't make any sense at all. It's like 'getting slapped is best feeling in the world' lol! Kuch b? Also that dialogue 'ek tarfa pyar ki takat do logo me ni bant ti ispe sirf mera haq hai' also doesn't make any sense. How is it takat? The right word should be 'consistency' instead of 'takat'. ''ek tarfa pyar ki consistency do logo me ni bant ti ispe sirf mera haq hai'. Obviously srk's dialogue delivery made this dialogue pleasing to ears. Also there was a scene when alizeh slaps ayan coz he was trying to kiss her forcibly then she Apologizes to him immediately for the slap. Why the hell she apologized? Ayan should've apologized. Anyways i still enjoyed the movie becoz of its music, acting, locations, costumes. It's a fun entertaining watch but i definitely don't agree with kjo's views.Originally posted by: Clochette
ADHM was a v e r y self-centered, selfish and utterly wrong movie...even the content of SRK's cameo was wrong, imo. I know, SRK did the cameo just for his affection for Karan...unrequited love isn't his 'thing'...unconditional is. (it's quite different).
Clicked many pics while watching the movie trying to capture Srk smile and look in second half. Stopped when finally achieved clear good dashing pic.
It’s an srk film from start to finish it is about his love for Manu and his country. even taapsee has a solid and good role.
Hardy is a soldier and desh bhakt with his love for Manu coming closely after
Vicky’s acting and last scene stays with you after the film
Some moments heartwarming and some very sad. I liked when Manu(taapsee) stood up for Hardy (srk) in class, srk taapsee hugging on train, proposal scene and srk entry. I didn’t find lavatory scene funny. The film reminds of 2 old classic srk films veer zaara and ending like kal ho naa ho. Vicky scene and manu dying was sad. Some scenes could be funnier. Church kissing scene was funny and some other scenes were funny too.
Songs o maahi was nice, main tera rasta dekhunga and lutt putt gaya has nice tune/ picturization
3 idiots showed the reality of prestigious universities in India and dunki shows reality of immigration and finding a job.

Am I the only one who wanted more of SRK in it?

I posted my full review in the main Dunki non-spoilers thread and gave it 6/5 stars.
My only issue with the film was the ending. What was the need to kill off Taapsee's character? Was it the feeling that audiences won't accept a conventional or even bittersweet happy ending anymore? Perhaps the ending was too similar to Veer-Zaara so it was decided she needed to die? It felt very forced and unnecessary imo and I can't see why the couple couldn't have been happy together.
I am getting vibes from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil when in the last act, Anushka randomly starts to die just because for the narrative's sake, there is nothing else left to do. Karan said that Anushka's character had to be punished for not loving Ranbir back. I think it was more a matter that Karan wanted the film to represent unreciprocated love and so he couldn't have Anushka not fall in love with Ranbir but at the same time, audiences would not accept them not getting together and remaining friends, so she had to die to avoid both of those possibilities.
The ending made sense to me because Manu's sole reason to come home was the 1 month time period, he doctor gave her
She didn't contact Hardy for 25 years, she did it when she needed to come back to India
It was poignant moment for me when she died on the day, she came home.
It was like, she was alive to see her home as the lyrics play on her entry
"Jis Dharti Pe Janme, Us Dharti pe marna hai"
All 4 did illegal things, them getting a happy ending would have been like celebrating it or glorifying the process of Dunki
It was the issue I had with Animal, I was content when none who chose the wrong means of traveling got a happy ending
They just wasted their lives and realised that there was no point to it
Don't know...but as SRK can be like dope... well...
He had the best entry scene
Best proposal
Best wacky ideas
Funny 2 minute speech with fill in the blanks
Best scene when realising Balli doesn’t have luxuries in London
Most of the London parts were boring without him
The journey back from london to India was dependent on meeting Hardy
He undoubtedly was the one to rely on...(ah, Iove that... it's so apt relative to everything that matters to SRK)
Just came back after watching the movie.
SRK was awesome in the movie. I feel his performance in this movie was far far better than his performances in Pathan and Jawan. The songs were beautiful. I enjoyed listened to all of them. Vicky Kaushal as Sukhi was great too. I wanted to see more of him in the movie. Like most members here, I liked the second half more than the first half because that's where the story moves. The movie's message was really good. It focused on lot of issues, coaching institutes taking advantage of people's vulnerable situations and fooling them. Poor people's beliefs that going abroad will solve all problems as they can earn more money than India so in their desperation, they migrate using painful, illegal and dangerous ways and either end up losing their lives or face even more difficulties and struggles in the country they migrated. As Balli said, he earns more money in London even as a beggar but that life is not worth leaving one's own country and family. The 3 characters, Mannu, Balli and Buggu earned lot of money in their 25 years of stay in London but could never gain respect and mental peace in that country. The message was really good. If you want to move to another country, get a valid visa and make sure you have a good decent job before you move. If you don't get visa nor a decent job look for other opportunities in India itself rather than being desperate to go there and live even a more difficult and struggling life.
There are lot of loopholes in the movie. Sukhi thought he can go to London and rescue his ex gf from her husband and bring her back to India. It's not that easy as he thought to be. If she really wants to be rescued why couldn't she approach the police and get her husband arrested instead of being dependent on Sukhi? Instead of committing suicide she could have just called the police. Unlike others, I didn't find Sukhi's reason that reasonable. In fact I found the other three people's reason of moving to UK to earn money more reasonable. Also, why did Hardy join the IELTS classes if his intention was only to help Manu get a visa and not to move to UK? I also found his reason that we didn't get visa using valid ways so we'll go using illegal ways weird. Isn't that some form of gaddari towards his country? It was strange to see an Army man advising others to use illegal ways and then that same person is whitewashed by showing that he refused to say his life is in danger in India so he is a true and selfless patriot. Also, the movie's title should have been something on the lines of their struggles in London other than Dunki because Dunki scenes ended quite faster than I expected.
Overall the movie was really nice though not as good as Hirani's previous movies like 3 Idiots, PK, Munnabhai etc. This movie is doing really well here in USA. I was not getting tickets since last week and finally today I got them. NRIs love this movie.
