I might have previously written about the same. Here, I will just state BO facts. Everything stated below is for Telugu states only.Originally posted by: CrimeMasterToto
I mean if he has to bring down HR to prop up his Bachcha Prabhas, that shows Prabhas in bad light.
Curious to know How was Prabhas' stardom before Bahubali?
Prabhas made his debut as a hero in 2002. His first movie to get into All Time Top 5 Share (in Telugu industry Share is followed more than Gross) list was Mirchi in 2013. Yes, the film before Baahubali.
Prabhas had no Opening Day/Opening Week Records (overall) until Baahubali. Not even in single territory (had a couple second best openers in Nizam territory iirc). He has no highest-share movie of the year as well until Baahubali.
In comparison, before Baahubali (2015).
Pawan Kalyan had his first All Time Top 5 Share movie in 01 (debuted in 96), and then in 08, 12, and 13. The last three are the highest share movies of the year, as well.
He had 4 Opening Week records All Time (01, 08, 12, 13). First star to beat Baahubali's opening day numbers in 4 out of 8 territories (16).
Jr NTR had his first in 02 (debut in 2000), and then in 03, 07. The last one is the highest of the year.
He had 1 Opening Week Record (02)
Mahesh Babu had his first in 06 (debut in 99), and then in 11, 13, and 15. 06 and 11 were the highest of the year.
He had one Opening Week Record (12)
Allu Arjun had his first in 14. It was also the highest of the year. Had no Opening Week record before Baahubali.
In conclusion,
Before Baahubali, Prabhas and Allu Arjun were tier 2 heroes. They did not have the craze, box office, and business of Pawan Kalyan, Jr NTR and Mahesh Babu (in that order). Allu Arjun did get better of all these stars and Prabhas whenever he had a movie in competition or in the same season, though.
Mahesh Babu never had the youth following of Pawan Kalyan or the mass following of Jr NTR.
Pawan Kalyan and Jr NTR movies always open bigger than Mahesh Babu. He (Mahi) has caught up in the last decade concerning openings and, with better movies critically, has always had longer-run movies than those two stars, especially Jr NTR.
Post Baahubali, in the last decade:
Everything that's been posted earlier is somewhat closer to reality. Prabhas has reached the stratosphere. Allu Arjun will soon reach there. Jr NTR will try, Charan can try, and finally, Mahesh will piggyback Rajamouli and might/most likely deliver. And Pawan Kalyan will remain the star who will beat them all on his day and remain unknown to the rest of the world.
