If I have to draw a parallel with BW( for your better understanding) you can say Mahesh is like one of the Khans. Pawan Kalyan was another one at the top.The third position was shared between Prabhas, NTR and Allu Arjun. Charan was nowhere in the game compared to these people.

Now after Baahubali, Ala Vaikunthapuramulo/ Pushpa and RRR things changed drastically in the Telugu cinema. Mahesh babu is still a superstar but not at the top anymore.

Edit: oh, no idea about the BO. But Mahesh’s movies open big even if they fall flat on the subsequent days. All the Telugu and Tamil superstars have dedicated fandoms which take it upon themselves to fill the theaters on the first day.

This was in 2009, way back when PR and promotions were in vogue. South industries way of promoting their movies is to hold big audio and trailer release functions and invite everyone under the sun from industrialists to politicians and live broadcast it. It still hasn't changed much. This is still a bit vanilla, if you ask me.

He says that after watching Dhoom, if was disappointed because Bollywood has that level quality due to Hrithik, but having watched Billa's trailer he doesn't worry about it because Prabhas has surpassed Hrithik. He's not calling Hrithik useless.

Apparently, they just did one for Animal with all of them patting each other’s backs. and with Ranbir almost promising to shift his base to Hyderabad. 😆

It hasn't changed much as I said. That is standard movie promotion 101 in South. Ranbir seems to be learning the ropes well. Alia might have trained him following her flowerpot role in RRR.

Mahesh is trolled because his acting skills are terrible and he focuses on placing a message in every film. His looks basically hide every other shortcoming he has. If he was in Bollywood with no nepo connection, he'd be considered a Sid-level struggler. I'm being harsh but his acting has regressed - he used to be good

I used to like him when I was a teenager. Not anymore. He basically plays the same guy no matter the character. Same costumes, same hairstyles, same dialogue delivery, same cut and dry dialogues. Pokiri was the last time he attempted to act.
