Way too early to tell.
Aamir Khan’s USP was his ability to pick up good scripts and make good movies. When TOH failed all the blame went to YRF and the director. With LSC it was his own production company and one of his own protégés who directed it. So that USP is on very shaky ground right now, and Aamir is fully aware of it. Calling the movie Sitaare Zameen Par is his way of indirectly associating the movie with TZP, which is still one of his most beloved films. I guess that’s step one in marketing of the film
.
He’s playing the coach in this movie so we’re assuming he’s a regular run of the mill guy and Aamir does those roles very well. And Aamir Khan Production always churns out quality craftsmanship so it will be a very well put together movie. Whether story connects with people or not? Again, too early to tell. I never expected LSC to fail 🤷🏽♀️
This is very anecdotal but I read one post on IF and two people on other platforms mentioning that they wanted to see LSC but didn’t want to deal with their families asking them why they were watching an Aamir Khan movie. So were these just outliers or was there really a social backlash against Aamir back then? And if it’s the latter has it all subsided?
