That’s a fair assessment.

Alia is definitely missing the IT factor that Deepika has in oodles. Whether it’s screen presence or sex appeal or the ability to stand out (figuratively). I’m even gonna add beauty and looks even though it’s subjective. But I think Deepika’s beauty is a big reason for her screen presence and her ability to stand out. Alia is cute, very cute, but she’s not a stand alone beauty. In short Deepika has aura and Alia does not. So I agree that Deepika is better than Alia as a heroine and as a full package Indian actress.

As for acting, neither is Smita Patel or Meryl Streep. Heck I don’t even think they’re Sanya Malhotra or Fatima Sheikh. Alia is not as good as she’s made out to be and Deepika is not as bad as she’s made out to be. Contrary to popular opinion on IF I think Alia has a much more aggressive PR than Deepika. I don’t believe that she’s the best in India in this generation. I think her acting talent is directly correlated to the quality of script. In a good script she’s good and in a bad script she’s bad. But even in a good script can we objectively look at any of her roles and say that no one else could have done this part? Alia’s PR, with the help of KJo, has made her out to be way more than she is, which is why when the right script isn’t there she falters big. Most recent example of this in the context of script and PR would be international reviews of Heart Of Stone. Deepika didn’t get labeled as an Meryl Streep after her second movie so her PR has always been more focused on her star value than anything. As every other actress out there some roles have been great and some not so much. But can we imagine anyone else doing Piku, or Gehriyaan, or even Chennai Express (though this wasn’t anything in terms of acting but Deepika made an impact). And this is very subjective but I think Alia lacks subtlety in her acting. When you see her in a movie you see her acting. Deepika on the other hand portrays subtlety and nuance much better than Alia as was shown in Piku and Gehriyaan. This is why I disagree with the argument that Alia could have done Piku as good as Deepika.

Every person is meant for different roles … I can’t imagine alia matching up to Deepika’s aura in roles like jawan / Pathan. The same way I can’t imagine Deepika in roles like raazi. Both are still average actors. Most versatile is Priyanka.

Deepika has the quality of a quintessential Hindi film heroine whereas Alia is a talented actor. Deepika is incredibly enchanting. I loved her as Veronica in Cocktail. 🙌❤️

I really don't find aliaa is the best actress in Bollywood. If we only comparing her with deepika. Because I love deepika off screen personality, she is always smiling and laughing that you want to go and watch her work. On the other hand Aliaa has such a teenager personality. That i am not interested watching her movies. The only movie I watched of her was Love you Zindagi and that too only due to Srk. Her off screen personality screams i can get whatever I desire. Deepika has earned to where she is today, either you like her or hate her. But Karan Johar the mentor has given Aliaa everything. I don't think she will ever understand the meaning of struggle.

Since I only watched aliaa's only one movie and i watched Deepika many movies, it will be unfair to give my verdict. But even in Love you Zindagi I think she was Alright, the scenes given to her was amazing but she was pretty alright, nothing wow or amazing. If it wasn't for SRK, movie was average and incredibly boring.

For me how an actor is off screen makes a big difference for me to watch the movie. How their interviews are, what are their opinion on the role they played. Deepika had a role of 15 or 20 minutes in the movie jawaan. On social media everyone were praising how audience got emotional. That is what you call a powerhouse performance.

On instagram there was a reel i watched a scene of aliaa of Rocky ki Rani, she was loud and that is not acting. Maybe that is what director had asked for but God bless to the people who watched it.

I hope a time will come where we can see who the real aliaa is. Either she is copying Kareena or Deepika.

If Aloo had done Piku it would have been as cringey as Rani Saree & hair flowing flipping everywhere with background score

Deepika is prettier and has better screen presence but Alia is a powerful actor and far superior. Just Udta Punjab, Gangubai are performances that speaks volumes. Deepika has a range she has not been able to break out of. She’s very good with expressions and silent angst, but I have yet to see her deliver a powerful monologue with good voice modulation

Its all about “opportunities” . Alia got those opportunities and films very early on her career.

Alia’s debut was Student of the year.. any other actress who started that way would have had to struggle and seek out to get their next few films. But not Alia.

Alia’s career roles have been cherry picked by KJO and team. Alia projects herself as this sweet girl but she is quite driven and competitive in what she wants and gets it by hook or crook.

Even Highway, KJO requested Imtiaz Ali to cast her, Dear Zinfagi too Kjo got Gauri to cast Alia. He got Raazi for her.. etc etc . Which other actress gets such opportunities in the first few years of their career ? Most heroines have to do flowerpot roles and much much later if lucky get a breakthrough with a meaty role. Imagine by 30 these are the opportunities she has had.

So logically Alia is incomparable with any other actress coz she has never struggled.

Deepika is biggest bollywood actress after Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit in bollywood film industry

She looks good in both western and traditional clothes and roles

She can do comedy, action, serious or emotional roles (shes no nargis but shes much better than others in last 18 years an all rounder) like piku, coctail, bajirao mastani, chennai express etc

Shes good looking like a traditional bollywood heroine super star of before like madhubala, hema malini, madhuri dixit

And shes being compared to alia bhat who has no looks no dancing cannot do action emotion comedy etc

Alia bhat is like some small time heroine who shall never be remembered after 30 years by most

But Deepika is like top 10 to 12 heroines of all times in bollywood or india basically a super star actress like madhubala, nargiis, hema, madhuri, sridevi

Deepika has charisma and swag and IT factor of a bollywood heroine and is the top heroine after Madhuri Dixit

If you to remote village of india deepika poster on hair cut saloon or bangle shops not alia bhats. Only sridevi, madhuri, hema has got that honour in last 50 years

I would not say that about Katrina although shes also super star because she neither can do comedy or emotional or power packed roles only dancing and action may be

Also Alia has powerful bhat backing and KJo and many others to recommend her for RRR, bhansali movies

Deepika was not recommended for big movies by anyone she got it on her own climbing ladeer up by working

If someone told me in 2010 also Deepika will be super star i would not believe actually not till bajirao and piku came could believe she can be super star

But alia since highway they say shes no.1 and best actress all PR shes not best actress at all of her times too forget ever
