That's my thought exactly. I just listen to the same old stuff. Appreciate it even more.

Amit's voice is quite distinctive. Zinda from Lootera is one of his best songs. Currently him and Pritam are the only dependable music directors in Bollywood cranking out hit after hit. And he admits that he's not comfortable with remixes and tries to deflect them to Tanishq Bagchi's way. Double points for that.
Woah. I’ve been listening to Zinda for ten years and never once bothered to find out who the singer was. What a shame. I was always amazed by the lyrics. It is a such a beautifully written song. Kabr par mere sar uthake khadi ho zindagi, aise marna hai mujhe gives me goosebumps every single time. The voice only elevates it. I’ll listen to the other two songs you posted here. I am pleasantly surprised to make this discovery today. Thank you!
Now the 80's were an embarrassment as a whole.
How can you say the music scene is dead with gems like these that take you back to the days of Hemant Kumar, Geeta Dutt.
This man is a genius!

I assume you are implying 80's were really bad. I disagree.

There may be some strays here and there but the 80's for me are synonymous to Mithun's cringe movies where he plays a messiah for the downtrodden^ nth.
All that stands out to me are songs like Tirchi Topiwale, I'm a disco dancer, in comparison MPK came as a glimmer of hope at the tail end of that decade.
I have a strong aversion to that decade in general, grimy movies, shitty fashion filled with lycra, polka dots..

Some really good albums, right from the top of my head, the ones I can recall right now are
Karz,
Asha,
Bazaar,
Betaab,
Ijaazat
Masoom
Chashme Badoor
Love Story
Ek Duje Ke Liye
Silsila
Sadma
Jaanbaaz
Hero
Tezaab
and quite a few more.
However you are right to an extent, the music was not really great as it should have been, initial part of 80's had good music, somewhere in mid 80's the standards deteriorated but there were still a sizeable number of good albums being produced.
The same cannot be said about movies, especially from earlish 80's.
They only pay for who is the star in it. They don’t pay for the quality of music. Anurag Kashyap has expressed his experience of working with...
