Carry On Jatta 3 obliterated all records for Punjabi films as it collected around 4.50 crore nett which is almost double of anything the industry has seen before. The film stuck to winning formula of the previous film and has been rewarded and how. If Hindi films have had it bad post pandmeic its been no different for Punjabi films but this will film will be top grosser of the year before the extended weekend is finished.

The trailer of the film has seen a huge response and with the franchise value records were likely but its the distance they have been smashed by. There was a chance East Punjab may hit 3 crore nett but its gone to 3.50 crore nett while outside East Punjab its even better. Here around 50 lakhs is even difficult but Carry On Jatta has done 70 lakhs in Delhi / UP alone and 30 lakhs nett in the rest of India. In many cinemas of Delhi city it was beating the numbers of Satyaprem Ki Katha.

The overseas results will be huge as Canada will be phenomenal and Australia has crossed $100k mark on day one (Thursday) and is five times higher than Satyaprem Ki Katha. The first day was a national holiday so that has helped collections but a film like this can do without an holiday also. The target for India now should be 40 crore nett but that will be depend on the weekdays and Punjabi films sustain well through weekdays of the first week. The top five opening days for Punjabi cinema are as follows.

1. Carry On Jatta 3 - 4,50,00,000 apprx

2. Honsla Rakh - 2,53,00,000

3. Shadaa - 2,40,00,000

4. Carry On Jatta - 2.37.00.000

5. Sardaarji - 2,25,00,000

Carry On Jatta is a successful franchise, so no wonder.. but I highly doubt the WOM will be good. Films seemed trash from the trailers.

Carry On Jatta 3 Maintains Extraordinary Collections On Day Two

Carry On Jatta 3 maintained extraordinary collections on the second day as it collected 3.75 crore nett across India. The drop is under 20% post the holiday and that is coming of a huge number on day one. Simply put the film is on a different level compared to other Punjabi films before.

The film hit 3 crore nett in East Punjab again on Friday and that means four consecutive days over 3 crore nett in the circuit when there have been hardly any films to get over 3 crore nett in a single day with Saunkan Saunkne released last year getting 3 crore nett on Sunday

Saunkan Saunkne holds the opening weekend record of around 9.25 crore nett which will easily be smashed by Carry On Jatta 2 as it should be at least 13 crore nett for the first three days. Saunkan Saunkne was also the last BLOCKBUSTER for Punjabi cinema so its been a long time coming and HISTORY seems to be on the way though it will be weekdays that will confirm if its HISTORY or not.

The film was also fantastic in Overseas on Thursday though being a working day collections get held back a little but on Friday there was no stopping the numbers. Canada saw a huge jump on Friday while UK stands at £100k in two days and Aus is around A$250k in two days. The film is way ahead of Satyaprem Ki Katha in like to like markets. UK for Satyaprem Ki Katha is £50k despite wider reelase. The first two day collections of Carry On Jatta 3 are as follows

Thursday - 4,50,00,000 apprx

Friday - 3,75,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 8,25,00,000 apprx

Bit stupid to release Satyaprem on more screens in Canada, UK and Aus than COJ.. all these places are Punjabi hubs.

Its budgets is also more than twice that of any other Punjabi film. Three times any Punjabi film if you add in the promotional cost. Sonam looked Chinese and ugly as usual.
