Amitabh has had insane mass following across generations, succeeded in films and on TV and gets work at this age too.

He is respected a lot by his rivals, colleagues, juniors. His voice is also copyrighted and in demand.

He is a trusted brand and gets lot of work. Even Cadbury took him to clean their image after worms controversy.

Can there ever be a female star who gets work and remains as popular as AB Sr or Rajinikanth at old age?

Hema has come closest with ads, politics, stage work she does at this age but she gets no work in films. To some extent Rekha too. But no female star has had as much work, meaty roles or success at old age as AB Sr or Rajinikanth.

Is it possible for female stars in future to attain AB Sr or Rajinikanth level of success and being in demand?

Do female stars lag behind as they do not develop personality beyond glamour? Is there any female icon who has long lasting and timeless credibility and popularity? In music there were Lata and Asha who were iconic beyond age.

Sri Devi would have been if not for her untimely death.

But Tabu has no mass appeal and respect like AB Sr. I know she is admired a lot but her stature is not even same as MD, Hema, Sri, Rekha. Her appeal is quite niche.

We already have a female icon…Nargis. She was the top actress BO wise despite the sheer amount of talent and fame her competitors also had, and after her voluntary retirement, was incredibly relevant through politics. Also literally being Mother India…a movie that defined India for many people internationally.

Because of the age of photo, video and PR, Amitabh Bachchan managed to re-invent his image after multiple mistakes and disasters, politically and at the BO. I find that impressive and also ofc he likes working in movies. He’s still working and happy about it.

Sri Devi if she was interested had gotten a ton of feelers, especially since she was popular pan-India, but she was never interested in branching out any further (understandably she wanted to enjoy family time) The reason why Sri gets more flack based on her family situation was her lack of PR.

Madhuri had a PR firm, one of the first actresses to do so constantly, but her cultural relevancy began to decrease as she focused exclusively on her Hindi/NRI audience, but her bargain paid off financially.

Hema is quite savvy, she’s pretty popular (on a smaller level than the likes of Amitabh Bachchan) but still quite revered by the generation that saw her on screen.

Yeah it's that the women don't have personally. Nothing to do with the way audiences treat men and women.

Be serious.

I think it is not what women lack but not many cultivate a unique persona.

Rekha, Hema and to some extent (artsy types) Shabana, Smita, Vidya are only ones who managed to try and form an image.

Like Rekha has worked on her voice, cultivated mystique and looks young through all surgeries or dresses like courtesan or keeps rumours about AB Sr alive to keep others talking about her.

Hema did TV, theatre, politics, became editor of women's magazines, besides films and somehow her beauty and fame sailed her through backlash she got for marrying a married man and her inarticulate and entitled persona.

Most actresses are focused on mainly beauty and are not well spoken or articulate. Madhuri has sadly reduced herself to just dance. Her apps, SM presence and YouTube channel are good efforts to stay relevant though. She speaks better compared to Hema. Sridevi was also not articulate. Juhi also has poor articulation and is stuck in cute mode.

Amitabh or earlier Dilip Kumar or now SRK are all quite well spoken.

Just look at Jaya Bachchan!

She is even a step ahead of Amithabh, doing podcast with her grand daughter.

But in that audience you must include that even female fans dont treat female actress the way they do men. Thats ironic isnt it 😆
