No. Neither male nor female actor can replicate AB's success.
The adulation for AB was on another level in his peak days. He's now a respected senior artist.
I don't see anyone else, male or female, who fills both criteria.
A FEMALE icon of Amitji's level? Are you kidding? It's Hindi filmindustry!
It would be another question if put on the level of cinematic art which would encompass Indian Cinema as such looked at also from outside ...and then, Amitji's position would not be the same anymore.
I remarked on audience as a general word. That includes all genders.
I do agree female audience is hardly as loyal towards female stars as they are for males.
Come on. She is hardly doing films and was never a star of Hema's or Rekha's or even Zeenat's level.
You're kidding right?
Waise to be frank, female artistes hardly even get as author backed roles and tailor made scripts as male ones.
Male villains also used to get solid roles unlike women who just had to act nasty and sleazy to be branded a vamp and had no good dialogues or well designed characters like Mogambo or Gabbar Singh.
Bollywood would cater to ANYTHING in demand.
Therefore it's up to the women audience to show that's what they want...or
Do the women audience really want a woman icon ?
