PS1 has the biggest PR. I mean they were calling a regional movie a national hit, when most people from north, east and west India had not even bothered. Most people did not cared even if it had Aishwaria Rai.

PS 1 and Drishyam( a South Indian movie remake) are proper movies with impeccable plots. While Brahmastra is a dumb VFX show. So yes absolutely no comparison. South Indian movies are above and beyond any comparison with the dumb Bollywood movies at this point. The writing is on the wall with BW movies failing left right and center despite the over the top propaganda.

Stop calling bollywood movie dumb, when you are writing in bollywood forum. PS1 is not a national hit, it's a regional movie. Bollywood movies flowp agree, but so many south indian movies flop. So many of them end on YouTube by goldmines with 10 days after release.

I saw no hype in North, east and west india among non south Indians. I was travelling that time in all three regions. The movie had a huge budget over 150 crores and closed at collection of 275 crores. So 500 crores is not possible.

Did Aish speak to anyone outside Tamil industry.Was any event held in the city she has been living for decades? PS1 is a regional film.Brahmastra on the other hand was heavily promoted in the south states by the regional stars.not to mention SS Rajamaouli.I don't know how it fared in the south.

A regional film making 500 cr world-wide..with Aish ,its best known face is a triumph.

I watched Brahmastra in 3rd weekend in a packed theatre . Propaganda was against the movie.fake reviews, meme etc . PS1 was flop in Hindi belt.

Drishyam is surprise package working due to massive wom .

You're actually proving the OP's point. Without the hype, PS 1 did better Indian and worldwide collection than Brahmastra.

PS 1. Wiki says 330 from India (240 from TN), rest from abroad. Total 500.

Brahmastra. Wiki says 320 from India, rest from abroad. Total 430

Ie, PS1 outperformed Brahmastra without any hype and while marketing to only one quarter of India. Brahmastra was marketed to whole India and outside and made less.

And that is the OP's question. Why is Brahmastra being hailed/hyped when it actually performed worse?

Fans must promote their stars, their work.Why defend a film, which has not performed to expectations for various reasons.Alia fans should rage against Ayan.RK should be really angry with him for throwing around names of other stars for the sequel,while the film was still running.Has the films done wonders for your favorites? If not? Why defend it?

Have not seen Brahmastra so far even though it made it's entry into OTT.

PS1 is a visual feast beautifully filmed with very authentic looking settings and costumes. They promoted the movie in the beginning but they left it to audience to decide whether they should watch it or not.

One thing about the way the movies are promoted is the way the couth Indian film makers never fail to give credit to the writers cinematographers and other technical departments.

Rajamouli's every speech is almost entirely about the contributions made by his team vfx costumes music cinematography etc.

I happened to watch Brahmastra promotion interviews. So much was said about the people/organisation who pumped money into the film and a lot about the director cum writer Ayan Mukherji but very little was said about the VFx team.

This shows how much priority Hindi film makers give to the team. No wonder their films flop and the movies they make are not given enough consideration on international platforms. If filmmakers don't give respect to technicians they will not get good quality technicians to work for their films.The poor quality of Vfx in Brahmastra is a testimony for this.

OK. Then Brahmastra was a flop in North America. 😆 Doesn't matter if it wasn't made for this region and wasn't marketed to the audience. It was a flop here since it closed at 4 million acc to Google.

PS 1 wasn't marketed to north India. At all. It still made more than Brahmastra which actually was marketed all over India.

But somehow, Brahmastra is hyped as this super success when it's the other way around.
