I remember everyone mocking Rajinikanth and saying how can this guy be hero and wondering if audience down south has any taste. Dhanush was called everything from paanwala to rickshaw wala and people wondered how he got to be hero. Kamal Haasan was called 'quite fair for a South actor'.

Earlier Southern actors also used to be shamed for weight be it Sridevi, Jayaprada or some actors like Prabhu.

Weight part is less now but colorism is still there.

Yep …..he continues to get films despite flop after flop

Only solace is they aren’t big films and mostly mild romcoms which are produced by his own production house
