So I have been missing Irfan Khan's acting talent onscreen. I was searching for a movie that I had not watched of his. I put on New York. I thought John was his usual wooden self but passable. Neil Nitin Mukesh was better than John. Irfan khan was undoubtedly the best. But Katrina was surprisingly impressive too. Not to mention she looked breathtakingly beautiful for the second half of the film. I did not like the wannabe American student styling during the first half. I agree with many she is not as bad of an actress as she is made out to be. I feel like she was mostly used for glamour in flower-pot roles that did not give her much to deliver. But she could deliver given the right script, direction, and role. Rajneeti is another good example of this. As well as Namaste London. Of course she is no Vidya Balan. Not portraying her as such.
The film handled the grey area of American discrimination and terrorism with a fair amount of sensitivity. It could have been better.
