Even in Hollywood , smaller movies are not working . It’s clear that in a post covid world only big spectacles can attract audience such as Brahmastra . Movies like LSC, RB, VV should have released on OTT directly . BW needs to decide where to release what or they will suffer more.

Well who would have thought VV would do such weak business? Releasing on OTT is a bad move since the OG movie is already on OTT for VV....

RB was produced by Akshay's family, his sister is on producing board. He made back money from the movie even if it was flop on paper.

LSC was a shock, and the only reason it did bad was because of Aamir's statements. It all came to a head against him because there was a "legit" reason for people to dislike him. His regular audience did not like the subject of the movie.

Smaller movies can work, the problem is that stars are charging more and inflating budgets. They will make less money but they should be made on less money.

OTT should be reserved for flop and small-time actors like vicky kaushal, kriti sanon and gang

The Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and now Drishyam 2, none of them required big screen viewing.

Yeah, I have been saying that audience just isn't here for what they consider OTT movies post Covid.

Two of them are sequels. TKF is the only film that's unusual.

More than big spectacle films, it is entertaining movies that are actually doing well.

BB2, KGF2 RRR, Drishyam2, Kantara, RRR yes some of them are big spectacle mass movies but movies like BB2 or Drishyam 2 or TKF are not big on theatrical experience, the movies are entertaining and does not bore you, yes some scenes are problematic but overall the movies are entertaining.

As long as the film does not bore you and keeps you entertained, the film will do well.

Stars should stop charging massive amount and budgets will come down.

LSC or VV were not entertaining.

Brahmastra had potential and was quite decent, it would have the potential to be great but was let down in a lot of parts and especially the love story and acting of the leads. It did good business but the budget was just too high for the film.

Moderate budget and entertainment is the need of the hour, it is no more about stars(very very few).

The success of a TKF, Kantara proves that.

In the same way the trailer of Adi purush got a lot of flak where as a small budget no star Hanuman teaser has created immense buzz

Like Vidya Balan said, films work on entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. 😆

There's no formula which works: spectacle (Adi Purush postponed), big stars and epic films (LSC, VV), failed

Small films - TKF, BB2, Drishyam2 succeeded.

This is what you get when you move away from cinema for the masses to cater to SoBo audiences. Bollywood producers/directors were/are busy slating the "taste" of their own audiences.

Never seen such counterintuitive absurdism in any business around the world.

Yeah Bunty Aur Babli 2, Satyameva Jayate 2, Badhaai Do, Heropanti 2, Khuda Haafiz 2, Ek Villain Returns, sequels are no longer a guarantee for success.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Drishyam 2 still didn't require big screen viewing despite having franchise value. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was also a completely different film with a new story and new lead actor.
