RRR is very popular here in USA as far as what I have seen and heard.

No , I question who am I n where I am 😆

Last sequence of Bheem rescuing Ram. So it wasn’t some one line reviews. Detailed ones and so it made me believe that the movie is genuinely liked here in USA.

May be not younger gen z. But millennials and older gen liked it.

West liked n not exaggerating tat they are crazy about RRR .

It takes time to digest n accept lol .5 stages of grief 😆

I have asked this to 15-20 people so far.

Why are Native Americans called Indians, do you know?
And everyone is like.. hmmm interesting question. Never thought about it.

I was like didn’t they teach you in history class. Coz we sure did learn it. If you wanna try, ask this question to an American and see them go hmm.

Columbus I think is more popular in India than America. 😆

Americans are kupa mandukaz , don’t know Wat they learn 😆

Fair point. I do think Rajamouli is in a very enviable position right now. Festival circuits and trade will line up for his next few films. Rajamouli single handedly opened the Hindi speaking markets for Telugu films. He could open up opportunities abroad also.

@vcs17 Also agreed. I think a lot anyway gets lost in translation. I can't speak for RRR, but I have seen subtitles translating a completely different movie with Hindi/Punjabi films. 😆

@Both I was just messing. I haven't seen the film. 😆

I was puzzled seeing your id 😆 but I responded to post a point which was on my mind

I mean. It's not their country. They wouldn't know much about France either, beyond Paris and Eiffel Tower.

Come to think of it, American whites don't know much about the U.S., either. So there is that.

And movie audience watches primarily for entertainment. What else are the movies for? 😕 Actually, RRR was primarily made as spectacle entertainment, and audience lapped it up,

Tho phir problem kya hain, people?😆

indians are a weird sometimes where they think everybody is looking down on only them 😆

they have brought others to such a state that every western utube reviewer has a standard dsiclaimer"we dont know about the culture blah blah .....but we are still reviewing" 🤣

its not like we know everything, all white ppl are the same to us mostly, i was also guilty of the same and still have lot to understand

and yeah, its finally a movie for entertainment, but some ppl are worried that what if they watch RRR and think we attack british with a troop of wild animals or jump from bridges to make friends

i know indians who think americans divorce and have affairs left, right and center seeing some random movies smiley36

I think Rajamouli is also supremely puzzled and is still figuring it out himself as to what ppl liked in what he thinks it is his usual movie with all typical telugu masala. of course with more polish and budget and effort

now he has decided no point thinking, just enjoy and keep making, this is what he sounded like 😆

I think what you said before is correct.

The West is missing the old epic type movies like Benhur and Cleopatra and Sound of Music and Gone With The Wind. All beautiful people and background music and somewhat black and white stories.

Nuance is good, but it has devolved into snobbery and pretense in Hollywood. No right or wrong. Moral ambiguity etc. Regular audience sometimes likes those movies. But the welder in central Illinois is not very diff from a welder in Pune. He's not gonna want to spend his hard-earned money to be lectured at. Peeps want entertainment. RRR provided entertainment.

I mean look at Tom Cruise's latest Top Gun film. I don't know how many expected it to be such a big hit.

Very well put

Rajamouli is at the right place and time and his movie was polished, all out and well made with non item songs, needless romance etc

It’s also the pandemic, ppl are emotionally, mentally exhausted, why only the welder even I who probably has a relatively privileged life want to watch a movie to be entertained

Agree, the amount of woke stuff in everything is mind numbing

Like I was browsing kids book recommendation list from our library and it was depressing as hell, every book is about bullying, gender, parental divorce, some ailment to a friend, loss. I was reminded of those scenes in our movies where every possible tragedy strikes a family, it was parodied in 3 idiots, like father is blind, mother is crying, sister is unmarried, brother is unemployed 😂
