Nope, models were always a part of film industry. Atleast they have the looks which the mainstream film industry demands. If bollywood industry was associated with high quality acting actors like Smita Patil ,Manoj Bajpai, Nana Patekar would be superstars . Bollywood often relied on gimmicks and now a days the standard has further deteriorated with the arrival of Industry kids . Now all the mainstream new gen actors despite of vigorous grooming, lacks grace, the beauty standard is below average and despite of multiple trial and error method ,acting is all about hype .

If you think Anushka Sharma is better actress than Priyanka then there is nothing left to say.

PC was excellent in negative or seductive roles. Which is why she did great in Aitraaz. She took time to improve in emotional roles and range she showed in Bajirao Mastani happened later.

This is not about nepo kids. There can be outsiders from non modeling background too the way we had Hema, Waheeda, Meena, Madhubala, Asha, Jaya, Nargis, Mala, Neetu, Shabana, Smita, Dharam, Rajesh, Sunil, Amitabh, Vinod, Shatru, Jeetu, Mithun, Govinda etc from non modeling background earlier.

Anushka and Preity are only actors from modeling background who have been good and promising from day one in recent years. Earlier there were Juhi and Meenakshi.

The most prominent factor which ruined Hindi cinema is it's obsession with remakes; musically or otherwise. The lack of originality ruined Hindi cinema.

If you want to discuss models ruining 'Bollywood', talk about their acting capability not their impact on the industry.

I think the focus on beauty queen standards of looks ruined it, like every actress especially has to 5 feet 7or 8 inches + and beauty queen type body

if you used this criteria none of actresses prior to 2010s will qualify

even beauty pagents didnt have those standards those days (example: juhi)

At max, they ruin the movie watching experience. BW is is ruined by its own faults. Even the most talented people are to be blamed for some of the things happening in BW.

Models were at least good looking n also they had to work hard to survive that's many of them gradually learnt acting. Also after a 2-4 flop movies we could get rid of them as main lead.

Also many ppl crushed on them as many were naturally beautiful n sexy.

Nepo kids neither look good nor act good. Before entering they get all surgeries done still r not charming.

And even after series of flops we have to bear tiger, jhanvi, ananya,arjun kapoor, varun Dhawan..

I wouldn't say that is the main reason for the downfall of Bollywood. Has it started a crappy trend for female actresses, and what is standard for them, yes to some degree! There have been very few model who actually have the acting talent, but it does seem bw takes on more models than anything. Sex and beauty are the selling points of actresses. Acting is secondary to none. Look at "ThE mOsT gOoGlEd AcTrEsS" and that tells you all you need to know. Bollywood doesn't care if the female lead can act. (not a model but see Jhanvi Kapoor still getting movies).
