Then why not say current movies are loud and crass without dragging *the south* into it? Which, btw, are 4 wildly different movie cultures.

Which 4 cultures ? I admittedly think Tamil/telegu/Kannada are all similar and lump them together. I’m not that well informed on it.

Apart from lack of good story, poor execution, mediocre acting, sloppy presentation and absence of entertainment, it's also other choices/ media available to viewers like OTT platforms, web series, TV series, You Tube, Instagram, Tiktok etc

Caveat: the following is a generalization.

Telugu: Masala, big budget, larger than life

Tamil: some artsy movies, some masala

Malayalam: lots of art house, new age type. Down to earth characters. Many newcomers.

Kannada: I'm not a frequent watcher, so unsure how to characterize

Marathi is the language of Maharashtra. Mumbai is the capital.

Geographically south. Culturally north.

If you meant Malayalam. Southern tip of India.

Nuh. You don't get to tell me to calm down on seeing bigotry.

Bollywood has little talent and imagination and is lazy. That's no one else's fault but theirs. Don't drag the South into it.

You are quite annoyed by the south word. But that will stay as a fact. South movies are commercially more known for mass entertainers than any other genres. Because one person found success in them, BW started producing them than the stories it was known for and what the thread started for. I never favoured BW for it.

That is what infers from my statements that Bollywood has majorly worked towards south style action movies which will always be equivalent to no repeat values like the examples given in the thread start!

You or I as a viewer don't represent the huge public viewings which favoured such genres.

Additionally you have been quite rude in this argument. So just in your own tongue, take rest and calm down again! There is no need to take this argument further because of your volatile mind of hearing the word south and thinking everyone is bashing it.

I have never blamed South at all and I already did say BW lacks talent. Why are you falsely accusing me of blaming South?

Hahahahaha! Punjabis made Bollywood WAY BIGGER THAN what your regional cinema is. Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Rafi, Vinod Khanna, Chopras, Johars, Dharmendra, Deols, Dutts, Kapoors, Anand Bakshi, S Mohinder, Oscar winner Gulzar, Om Puri, Pran, Amrish Puri, Poonam Dhillon, Geeta Bali, Kirron Kher etc are all Punjabis. Amitabh is also half Punjabi.

Most legends of BW who took it global are Punjabi. Deal with it.

That classy talk show host Simi Garewal is also Punjabi.

So much for calling out Punjabi work ethic when there is not many who matched contributions of these legends.

Rather Bollywood remakes Punjabi songs to cash on popularity just as it recently made Laung laachi song because that Punjabi song is first Indian song to cross 1 billion views on YouTube.

Their biggest hits like Gadar, DDLJ, K3G are set in Punjabi characters.

The jealousy and hate shows. Cope.

First produce as many legends as Punjabi artistes did then talk.

Punjabis, Sindhis, Marathis, Bongs made Bollywood for what it was. Deal with it.
